We are very pleased to announce that Mass Effect 2 for the Playstation 3 has GONE GOLD! This means that we have finished working on it and it is off to manufacturing to be turned into copies so you can buy them.

To help celebrate ME2 PS3 going gold, I stole a little time with Producer Jesse Houston so he could explain exactly how cool Mass Effect 2 on the PS3 is. You can hear Jesse talk about the changes made for the PS3 version, how fan resonse helped them make the game and even mention a little about Mass Effect 3 and teh PS3.

You can listen to the Podcast with Jess Houston over on the BioWare Blog.

I'm more amused by the fact the announcement page has 69 topics at the time of this post.

Can't wait to get an indirect sneak-peek on how Mass Effect 3 will look. :)

"we really listen to our fans.."

Does that mean that there will be a helmet toggle in ME2 on PS3?

Those visuals look fantastic. It is coming out a year later so it better be superior -

Absolutely loved the Podcast! :)

I'd love to see more, and maybe have a podcast featuring a Voice Actor as a guest?

Mark Meer, Martin Sheen, Seth Green, Tricia Helfer, Liz Sroka, Yvonne Strahovsky...

I'd LOVE to hear from them!

Not that much difference, tbh. Just sharper.

But then again, ME3 will use new design and textures so slapping ME2 textures unto the ME3 engine hardly makes it (the new engine) justice, I think.

Will any of the changes made be available as patches for the PC and 360 versions?

They can't update the engine to a whole other level. That's just unrealistic.

I volunteer to go podcast Yvonne Strahovski. Of course it will be 2 hours of me drooling into the microphone, but still.

As others have said, day 1 purchase for me even though I have it on PC. Finally I'll be able to play LotSB yay :D

*runs around the room like a sackboy with the biggest grin you can give one in LBP, then goes back to setting up potential PS3 playthroughs*

From the comments on that video... I'm beginning to reconsider wanting PS3 users on this forum. Oh god I feel a console flame battle ripping through this forum. Then again it can't be worse then that whole Talimancer thing... can it?

Negative, PC died in August (before LotSB came out) and as I'm only working temporary at the moment, not had time/money to get it fixed or get a new one. Trading a few games in so that I can get ME2 (and LBP2) when it comes out in January on PS3. Am hoping that I can at least get my save files off my old HD on PC so that when I do get it fixed I can continue the story with those Shepards (had 8 in total).

Hmm, the talk of the control switch to fit the PS3 got me wondering as I'd started listing down all the corresponding buttons between 360 and PS3 but it sounds like PS3 system is different (although we can swap to the system the 360 had). Intrigued as to what the PS3 controls will be, guess I'll find out next week when we can play the demo :)

Edit: @Sparda, well, there will always be silly fools who think it's fun to do console wars on both sides of the line (or all 3 sides if you include some PConly players). Personally my view is, everyone should be entitled to play games on whatever systems they like. So what if something is better on one system or not, for the most part it is very minor things that won't spoil the overall enjoyment of a game so there is no need for people to start making flame posts about their system being the best. It just makes the poster look childish.

I've witnessed just about every stupid console war imaginable. They always die down if the loudest people doesn't get their attention.

Congratulations! I was thinking of getting this when there were rumors about it, but unfortunately the first game is a necessity for me when playing ME. I can't just jump into the trilogy with ME2, even with an interactive comic. It's not the same. Hope it goes well though.

Ok, just listened to the podcast and I'm gonna take you guys up on what you said about listening to the fans - Don't add multiplayer to ME3! That's all.

I already have the Xbox version, but I think I'm going to get the PS3 version too. Especially now with all the new info we've gotten it sounds worthwhile.
