If you check out the podcast with Jesse Houston he drops that intruiging nugget. So what do you guys think about this?
I'll be watching videos of the PS3 version very closely, given it shows us what we'll be in store for with ME3.

Not surprised that they would roll out the red carpet for Sony.
they've got to. they are releasing me2 a complete year after it was released on ps and 360. plus, they never even released me1 on the ps3. if they want ps3 gamers to jump aboard, this is how to do it. give them a fine product, and the masses will indulge themselves.

All of the games are using the same engine. ME2's engine is just optimized from ME1's, and ME3's is a more optimized version of ME2.SpectreWarden91 wrote...
Maybe somewhere down the line they will re-release ME1 and ME2 with the ME3 engine.

Not profitable enough.

But it would have been nice to have Mass Effect 2 on X360 looking as good as the PS3 version (don't mind me, I'm just jealous).

Remember, it uses old textures and designs. It's simply copied and pasted unto the new engine. Mass Effect 3 will look even better, I am sure of it.

Buy a nice PC rig and max ME2 out and it'll look as good if not better than the PS3 version will be. I don't want to start a console flame war here but they are able to optimise the PS3 version since it's being released later to make it use the horsepower the PS3 is capable of. If it can handle it then why not make the best product they can for the platform instead of selling themselves short so it matches the X Box 360 version.

This is actually good news for everyone because if the engine was updated early enough for it to be implemented in the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 that means they have had all this time to craft the story and gameplay for Mass Effect 3.
Not to sound mean or anything but Bioware has been saying that for ages now. It's sad no one listens to them =/

You're right, but I don't care as long as all versions of ME3 are equal.

Lol. How does this have anything to do with Sony? <_<ReconTeam wrote...
This is BS. The PC version won't get upgraded? People still ask why I hate Sony?
Bioware made this decision on their own to kill two birds with one stone. Rather than porting the engine of the second, they port the engine of the third, making a simultaneous release of the third game much easier.

And everyone else gets screwed by BS favoritism, especially if the PS3 get exclusive content. It has already taken away time that could have been used for more DLC.

Bull. There is no favoritism. Is releasing a game a year late favoritism?<_<.ReconTeam wrote...

And a company like Bioware certainly has enough staff to multitask and expand their staff if they need to. The only reason DLC hasn't come out as of late is due to the fact that Bioware is waiting for the PS3 version to release so that they can release the DLC simultaneously for all consoles.

They should be thankful they are getting the game at all. And they certainly don't deserve any exclusive content, or graphical upgrades you can't get with a powerful PC.

Sigh.
They use the same assets so there shouldn't be much difference except in the way certain things render, like shadows.Gibb_Shepard wrote...
From the screenshots and gameplay
i've seen of the PS3 version, there are very minor differences. The
textures are pretty much the same on both consoles. This is all
marketing people, don't panic, the PS3 version isn't significantly
upgraded.
