Maybe somewhere down the line they will re-release ME1 and ME2 with the ME3 engine.

All of the games are using the same engine.  ME2's engine is just optimized from ME1's, and ME3's is a more optimized version of ME2.

This. They already said that ME2 would lay the groundwork engine-wise for ME3 prior to me2's release. It's not like it's gonna be all that different.

From the screenshots and gameplay i've seen of the PS3 version, there are very minor differences. The textures are pretty much the same on both consoles. This is all marketing people, don't panic, the PS3 version isn't significantly upgraded.

Still screenshots don't do it justice.  Have you seen the comparison video on IGN?  They include a clip which shows a scene of Jacob with both the Xbox360 and PS3 versions playing side by side.

The PS3 version looks way better.  It's like the jump Mass Effect 2 had over Mass Effect 1.  The textures are more detailed and the game's colors don't look as washed out.  This is truly the ultimate version of Mass Effect 2.

Couldn't really tell that well given IGN's shoddy "HD" quality, but the colors are definitely more vivid. I'd prefer a PC/PS3 comparison though. I don't recall ME2 looking that washed out before. Maybe it's the comparison that makes me really notice.

I just downloaded the 360 demo to check and it indeed looks that washed out on my TV. Which is surprising as the PC version isn't washed out. Is it a demo only thing?

And
a company like Bioware certainly has enough staff to multitask and
expand their staff if they need to. The only reason DLC hasn't come out
as of late is due to the fact that Bioware is waiting for the PS3
version to release so that they can release the DLC simultaneously for
all consoles.

They should be thankful they are getting the game at all. And they certainly don't deserve any exclusive content, or graphical upgrades you can't get with a powerful PC.

The Xbox360 version does look worse than the PC version but as a owner of a PC that easily maxes out Mass Effect 2 I can tell that the PS3 version is more detailed than even the PC version. The PC version does have a smoother frame rate but the colors and texture details on the PS3 version are an improvement.

Not really. The user above you is mistaken. A game on the PC with a proper rig will still look far better than PS3/Xbox360. Personally, I'm okay with PS3 having extra stuff since they will not, and won't ever, get ME1.

That's promising for ME3 then, so that's good.

Somebody with the PC version tell me this is BS please. Is Busomjack trying to make me smash something?

There is no game currently in existence that looks "far better" than Mass Effect 2.  Especially not another version of the same game.  A powerful PC is certainly more powerful than a PS3, no argument there but the PC version of Mass Effect 2 is still essentially just a port of an Xbox360 game.  The PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 however was optimized specifically to take advantage of the PS3's hardware.  Being that the PS3 is more advanced than the Xbox360 that means a better looking game than both the Xbox360 and PC.

The PC will have a smoother frame rate on a powerful PC and will have a higher resolution but in terms of texture detail, lighting, and colors, the PS3 version is indeed the best looking game.

Okay now I know your just trying to annoy me, and it's working. There is nothing magical about the PS3's hardware and no reason in hell it should look better than a PC maxed out.

The color really is different for that sequence. I just replayed the Jacob segment on the PC and it is as washed out as the 360 version. Never noticed it before.

I don`t know why its that hard to understand. The PS3`s hardware is developed strictly under Nvidia and can be easily optimized for the new engine. The reason why the PC won`t get it is because this is on a new disc, they wont be able to rework everything for pre existing hardware and then apply it perfectly. No matter if you have a 480 GTX or a 5350 it will never look as good for that fact that it was optimized for the hardware. ME3 will be optimized across all platforms, but to optimize and redo the engine for all platforms because you feel left out from a port they have waited a year for is insane.

Man it feels good to own a PS3 right now. This is not Mass Effect 2, it's more like Mass Effect 2.5!

Please don't tell me you believe that crap. They OBVIOUSLY scaled down the 360 graphics to make the PS3 one look better. Mine looks EXACTLY the same as the PS3 version. It's marketing buddy, don't get your hopes up.

Developed strictly under Nvidia and can be easily optimized for a new engine? My video card was developed strickly under Nvidia and was optimized for DX11 before games even started using it. Again, there is nothing special about the PS3's hardware. The "it's on a disk argument" may have applied a few years ago but not today, how many PC ME2 copies were digitally purchased and downloaded? 40%, 50%?

They won't be able to rework everything for pre-existing hardware you say? With that logic they wouldn't even make a PC version because they can't get it to run on old computers. Raw power can make up for somewhat less optimization. I consider unique improvements because Sony offered them a bucket of money equally insane. Well maybe not insane, but downright offensive to the rest of the community.

Not really. The 360 footage is quite fair and representative of what the game looks like on the 360. Hell, I just played the 360 demo sequence and the PC full version sequence, and the colors and the way that Jacob looks is like for like with the video. Now whether they did any tweaking with the PS3 footage is debatable (until the PS3 demo comes out next week).

hehe, it's funny watching PC owners think developers should care about them or what they think.

BULL.

I play ME2 almost every day on my 360 and it no way in hell looks like that. That is blurry as **** and washed out like you say. It looks much, much better on my TV (Bravia 32").

Yeah, shame on Bioware! Those hard earned torrent downloads really fuel the industry! How dare they not listen to us.

haha!

Goodnight.

Really?  I'm not usually in the "GLORIOUS PC GAMING MASTER RACE" crowd but today I am.

I shall resist the urge to say something along the lines of "I hope your PS3 lights your house on fire" to wish you a good night.

The colors are completely accurate. It matches the colors of the 360 demo and the PC version that I have just played. It's obviously blurry because it is a low ass bitrate video, but the colors are a 100% accurate representation. Also, what are you doing with a 32" TV? 50" is where it's at!^_^

Hmm I guess I portrayed my point wrong. I don`t mean the disk is too small, I am saying that this is a ported version of ME2. There is no reason they should not include the new engine in the PS3 version, it would be idiotic not to. Patching it for pre-existing hardware with a quickfix would lead to problems and most likely forcing them to go back and seal all of them taking time off from the sequel.
