I'm a PC guy with a $2000 (Australian) PC that I bought and assembled purely for playing games, and i'm not upset in the slightest. Why? Because the graphics of Mass Effect 2 are good enough for me and i'm happy with them. Also, the story and gameplay are also a lot more important to me than the graphics. It's the exact reason why Privateer: Ascii Sector is one of my favourite games!

Why bother with $2000 (Australian) PC?

Also, the Playstation 3 users had to wait a lot longer than we did, so they deserve something.

Why should they? Their version is already the most feature rich. Is that not enough?

Well I didn't spend the money just so I could play Mass Effect 2 :P I play other games on my PC aswell and I like them to be at maximum graphics. Infact, one of the main reasons I bought this PC was for Dragon Age: Origins. Little did I know at the time though, was that it is in fact a piece of ****** to run :pinched:

Also, let's say all the free DLC is for waiting a year and the slight graphical improvement is just because they can. That better for you?

Again, I believe I do realize why is BioWare doing it (the fact some people may rebuy it and the game getting some free press space thanks to fanboys, sure wont hurt either).
I was wondering about the "deserve" part.

Well they deserve it because they had to wait three years longer than the rest of us. It's similar to how us PC Mass Effect players got the Bring Down the Sky DLC for free. We had to wait longer so Bioware chucked in some free stuff.

You sound like PS3 owners were given some divine right play Mass Effect games and BioWare failed them by not releasing their version at time.

This. It's nice that the DLC is included and that the graphics are a bit better, but deserve it? Come on, that's just ridiculous.

All right fine, they don't deserve it. But the fact is, they're still getting it, so why complain? I really don't care what they get because like I said i'm happy with PC Mass Effect 2 and will most likely not buy it on Playstation 3

And yes, we do also get anti-aliasing

I dont think AA is that important these days. Its cool, no doubt about that, but there were no real alliasing issues in the 360 version (despite missing AA unlike ME1) and that one was 1280x720 - gaming PCs can run at crazy resolutions like 2560x1600 making it even less an issue.
Higher AF and framerate on the other hand...

2. If the ME3 engine is already complete, then sadly it won't take advantage of the recent update to the Unreal Engine 3 core engine.

Most of those updated actually came out early this year, sometime around March-April (you can see it in the UE content blog); it's just that they released that video now, but it was already there for some time.

As for PS3 - XBOX comparison, that video is really poor quality, but IMO one major difference I can see there is color grading, that's why XBOX image looks washed out compared to the PS3 version where colors look more vivid.

Here are few comparison pics with color grading off and on. I'm almost 100% sure that it's the same thing they did with ME here.

Can't judge about other stuff, that video quality is just awful, and I played it on PC anyway. :)

What a bunch of nonsense for a blurry face.

Go to 4:30 at even 1080p if you want, that face didnt kill my PC version, and even in the X-box the coloring of Jacob face you can check it in any video of youtube, its just fine.

And whats now that myth of a new engine for ME3? Its going to be even the same version of Unreal that was for ME2, this is crazy talk!

In regard to the perceived difference between the PS3 and X360 versions, to me it just looks like IGN is running their PS3 with RGB Full on a TV which doesn't support the full 0-255 range. The whole "comparison" is rubbish, better to wait for the demo. Although the textures seem a bit sharper on the screenshots.

As for running on the ME3 engine, since they had to adapt the engine to the PS3 it only makes sense to use the latest tweaked version of the engine, no point in porting the ME2 build just to redo the process for ME3. And I don't think we PC and X360-users should feel robbed or anything, and expecting Bioware to update ME2 PC and X360 to the latest build is just silly.

This does feel like a giant middle finger to the Xbox fans that originally suppoted the ME games.

I don't find this that bad actually. If PS3 gets exclusive content, then I'll call it a middle finger! ;)

They did announce PS3 exclusive PS3 packages, but its probably just the pre-oreder / Dr.Pepper stuff.
The real PS3 exclusive content is going to arrive with ME3 Image IPB

It's not a middle finger to anyone... If you have an improved engine for a product, why wouldn't you utilize it? Dont be so egotistical over something so simple to grasp. Don't you think it's perfectly normal that a 2011 car will have improved features over a 2010 model? Get a clue!

I do understant the idea behind the improvment aksoileau, but to give it to one and not the other just feels like a bit of a smack. After all We've been playing ME for almost over 3 years now. Why is it the loyal fans do not get an updated version? I get they are tryign to sell it to a new group, they shoudl just also mind the original group as well. We've been here the whole time, it would be nice to be remembered.

Oy. Game is even out yet, and we don't even have a direc feed to go off of like the demo coming out next week and yet quite a few assumptions are being made. :P

Judging from that ign video all they did was up the contrast a bit and add some color grading (that's a big maybe, they might have just upped the saturation a tiny bit and heighted the effect of the dynamic shadows or whatever). Nothing to get too excited about. You can up the contrast on your TV if you really want. PC gamers can just edit the config files if they really want to (but honestly why would you - except to maybe increase the shadow texture resolution? The game looks fine as it is).

Are you suggesting Bioware reallocate resources from the ME3 team in order to give us a newer engine in ME2? Are you serious? The differences are probably minuscule (as far as I've seen). Besides, as has been pointed out already, we paid for the product as it was at the time, there's really no reason why we should get an update of this type for the game. All we can (and should) expect are patches to game- and/or mechanic-breaking bugs, all else is quite optional on the developers part.

I am OK as long as PS3 owners have to sit through the opening cut-scene too.

If not, I will be PO'ed, and demand a patch.

What kind of resources? The engine is obviously complete.
Its going to be interesting to see how the game performs on PS3 as models and textures seem to be the same on screens. If it performs way better than the 360 version, we can expect graphic improvements on the PS3 and PC. If not ... ME3 is going to look like ME2 with more contrast.

Oh, for God's sake, this would be incredibly stupid if true. Everyone can decide which platform they like best and it's a purely subjective choice, so there isn't a "right" one. But a PC can, with enough money, have a lot more "horsepower" than either the X360 or PS3. Mine is a pretty decent mid-level gaming rig and I can play smoothly with 16AF and 8AA (w/out Texmod). I have friends with monster rights that chew ME2 with maximum filtration without framerate loss...

And seriously, the PS3 will have higher resolution textures? BioWare, I'm starting to get mightly p----- off at you, people. If it's not enough that I'm constantly being f---- up as your customer because of my geographic location, but now I am too because I use a PC? Seriously?

Just release a patch. You know, that magic downloadable thing that unlike the DLC stupidity isn't paid. A patch with higher res textures you undoubtedly have as part of your art assets. Will that be so hard to do?

Not really, but hey, it's trendy to hate PC users right now... meh.

Good luck to the PS3 folks, I mean it. I actually hope you get an improved version, that would mean that they actually put an effort into it. Even if it's only for the PS3...
