Doubt it. As much as integrated GPU's have advanced, a trusty dedicated graphics card is still much better in terms of current and potential performance. For graphics settings like those, check out a GTX 460 or higher from Nvidia's side, or a 5770 and up from ATI.

Oh I wasn't asking for ME. I'm all set. That was just idle curiosity,

Actually I can't imagine why someone buying a 2600k wouldn't be using a separate GPU...

They don't game / use art software / engineering applications?

Integrated GPU's are fine for a lot of people, and it helps saving battery life - same for new processor technology.

Hell most people don't know the difference, Intel just ship the new chips and buyers have the choice between laptops with the newest AMD or the newest Intel chips.
Most of the people I hear discussing new laptops talk about HDD space and screen size - and design.

Soooo, how long does it usually take for a Cider wrapped version to come out on a Mac?

Hi,

My computer meets all the minimum specs but am not sure about the graphics card which is a radeon HD 2600 (when I checked my mac's specifications there was no 'pro' suffix). Will DA2 work for me?

Only two HD2600 were made, Pro and XT.

XT > Pro, so you will meet min requirements.

Try downloading http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/ to find out, the XT will have a 800MHz core clock and give a little better performance.

Edit: Wait is this a laptop? That will make it a slightly slower version of the desktop pro, and thus technically below requirements. Or if it the mobility HD2600XT it should perform between the desktop pro and XT.

Thanks for the info,

No I have a desktop - glad that it will run  and save me getting a new computer - for a shortwhile.. I'll op for a PC next time!

Keep in mind that you will need a Windows installation through bootcamp to run the PC version, and if a mac version is made, requirements may change.

Right, but the desktop i7 2600K that the other poster was asking about is a "K" version with an unlocked multiplier for overclocking.  That is pretty clearly meant for the performance-oriented crowd, which was why the other poster was asking who would buy one for use with integrated graphics.  Actually, it generally seems strange that Intel has given the "K" versions, whose users are less likely to use integrated graphics, the better version of their Sandy Bridge integrated graphics.

From a marketing POV?

There are more currently more x360's in existance (50 million) over PS3 (41,5 million) - add to the fact that a lot of PS3 users are Japanese, who do not often buy western RPG's.
X360 sales were probably higher for the first game for these reasons, so the largest market is in focus.

Notice how the PS3 version of FFXIII is in the right side (where people focus first) and slightly in the front here:

Why? Because they believe that sales for this game has bigger potential on the PS3 platform.

I wonder how well the PC version sold in comparison for DA:O?

Ooh, interesting tidbits:

Xbox360 relation is ~3:1, PS3 is ~2:1, Japan had absolutely no interest as noted, only about 15-20% who purchased DA:O got DA:A.

As for Europe, you have to take into account that while higher populated, the income distribution is very different, and some countries have a high preference for PC gaming.

Console games in Denmark are insane compared to PC prices; a new PC game can be had for 250-350dKr if you shop around (for DA:2 pre-ordered for 264,- at D2D!), a console game will almost always be at least 500dKr.

I would really like to see PC sales.

Edit: great website you linked, also shows PS3 preference even in USA/Europe for FF13:

i don't trust to statistics...there's an italian poet Trilussa that one day wrotes...

"Do you know what the statistic says? It says if there's 2 people, and 2 chikens to eat, they're eaten each one, even if one of them don't eat his chiken, as the other eat 2 chikens"

I hope you get the point....

Is the point that some people misunderstand statistics?

I remember the days when games came in floppy disks. 7gb can be plenty of game if you know what to do with it.

DAO had like OVER NINE THOUSAND different introductions, maybe that's why it took so much space. We're not gonna have 10 different Hawkes from every single fantasy race.

Here's an answer for the game length question (I didn't bother reading through all 17 pages, so you'll have to excuse me if this has been posted already):

Curse: How much actual cinematic and cut scene content is there in Dragon Age 2?

Matthew Goldman: A substantial amount. That's got to be almost a quarter of our game, maybe 6-7 hours worth? There's so much VO work, so many trick camera shots, and custom scenes.

Saw the recommended, and thought it was minimum at first. I began to get mad. Then I scrolled down. I don't mind so much anymore ;p

I was amazed that Risen was only 2GB, so the size doesn't impress or worry me a bit.

I think most of the people worrying about the game size don't really understand much of how a game is made. The space requirement does not have an effect on the legnth of the game a filesize could be huge for a really short game depending on how it was programmed and compressed.
