As for the Ci7 (8 Core) processor, it was the latest on the market.

An i7-870 isn't bad.  But there's just no reason to buy those anymore since SB launched.

It's a 4 core processor btw, not 8.  It has 4 additional virtual cores via hyperthreading.

I have already looked into this one. All the indicators and manuals for the computer says 8 cores. Not virtual 8 cores.

You can't really compare specs like that since they use different architecture.  For a real life comparison take this for example:

5750 vs 250GTS (250 GTS was a repackaged 9800 GTX, slightly more powerful than a 9800GT)

<_< There are no 8 physical core desktop processors on the market...

Specs looking good.

Since I'm not in college I can't realy afford to upgrade as easy anymore. I'm basically only on some areas below the recommended spec though with this 'old' but pimped up duel core.

Good job. You guys didn't fall for the Crysis mistake.

The HD 3870 is a lot better, but they are naming the HD 2600 cards as minimum, not the HD 3800s, and the HD 4670 is well above those.

I am wondering if I should upgrade my power unit. I alerady have a ATI 5770 graphic card w/ vram of 1GB, directx 11, intel i7quad 2.80 GHZ 860 processor but someone mentioned to me my type of computer only has a 350 watts power unit. If I should upgrade what would be a good choice? Should I throw in an ATI 5850 while I am at it as well. Money does not seem to be as available in my household as it use to be.

The HD 5770 is still a decent choice; however, a 400 watt quality power supply should be about the minimum for it.

That's an excellent 450 watt for only $45

Thank you. Maybe that was why my DA:O crashed on occassion. If I upgrade to a 5850 would I need more power than a 450?

Probably at least 500, but you can look it up, most likely.  (I tried with their partner, Gigabyte, whose products I recommend because of good service I've gotten, but had no luck on it)

Ok, here it is, and 500 is accurate (which means I would overspecify up to 600 for myself) www.tomshardware.com/forum/267080-28-power-requirements-hd5850-5870-posted

YES! My laptop will run DA2, which means I'll have a lot more time to play it! Love my desktop, but since I always seem to be out somewhere, having a laptop that can play games is AWESOME. Heh... my social life it gonna suffer this year, Dragon Age 2, Dead Space 2, Resistance 3, Killzone 3, Uncharted 3, Gears of War 3, TES: Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, Portal 2, Star Wars: The Old Republic and probably more!

Thank you for the link to that page but I still wouldn't as far as saying the 3870 is a LOT better I believe on the Game-debate.com it is listed as only 10% boost in performance, and I am unable to find a 3870 on any retail site otherwise I would get it. Again thanks for reply.

Like all Mainline graphics cards, the HD 4670 is merely a 128 bit memory card, so it has only a Medium memory bandwidth, limiting it to a typical maximum of 256 MBs of VRAM it can deal with, plus occasional bursts up to 512.  That's too little for high resolutions.  The HD 3870 is out of production now, but while it was available new, its 256 bit memory system allowed it to support 512 MBs of RAM all of the time, and a GB on a burst basis, but more readily than the 4670 reaches its absolute max of half that.

Speed is never the only criteria to focus on, and bandwidth is far more important than most people are aware.

Yes, that is definitely what would be considered "too high" for an HD 4670, but just fine for that HD 5870. or one of the new HD 6900 High End Radeons.

Have they even started selling the 6970 yet? That thing will be a demon.... (I secretly love that card due to its inevitable arrival causing my 5870 price to drop like a rock over the holidays, huzzah!)Posted Image

Hmm yea, I got mine just before Xmas they we're released midway through December, it's well ott, a high end 5XXX card should easily handle the game, you can get the 6950 card and unlock it to speeds of the 6970. Plus these new cards are insane in size, simply dwarfs my old XFX 4890 card.

Given past poor showings of Bioware when it comes to graphics minimums, if they were actually on point with the Geforce 7900 GS, that means that their named "Pro" model of the HD 2600 won't be at the real minimum, and the "XT" 2600, or an equivalent from the X1n00 High End will be the "Practical" minimum (the other way, if the 2600 Pro does work fine, then so should the Geforce 7800 GS).
