Wow mine Is much better and just a bit more expensive. (not envy though.) I have 2.8ghz dual-core, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650. 6.14GB ram. Mine cost 1504$.

Laptop gaming... I'll never understand it.

Desktop gaming. I'll never understand It. lol.
Edit: I know you meant the price. But when you can afford It and prefer to use a laptop, why not.

I have an ATI 5770 which supports Direct X 11.  Although, I noticed in the requirements for Direct X 11 you need a 5850?  Is my 5770 not beefy enough to support Dragon Age 2 Direct X 11?

Marc

Well, the HD 5850 is under "recommended" for DirectX 11, that doesn't mean it's the minimum for DirectX 11.

I presume the minimum requirement for DirectX 11 is a DirectX 11 card per se, but it might not run very well.

Of course it will, but you are showing off, yes?

Great thing about the demo though, we will have decent answers about performance early.

Not as far as DX11 is concerned, though. DX11 support is not included, unfortunately.

Edit: Actually, I'll just quote it, too.

Hi folks. Here are the answers to some of your most frequently asked questions.

1 - Can we import from Origins into this demo?
The demo does not have a character or save game import feature.
2 - Is there a character creator with the demo or do we play default Hawke?
No. While you can modify your character in the main game, this is disabled in the demo
3 - Does the demo allow you to just start the full version of DA2 from where the demo leaves off?
No.
The demo begins with the beginning of Dragon Age II and then shows you a
glimpse of a mission that occurs later on in the game.
4 - Will it show off DX11 effects on the PC?
DX11 features will only be available on the PC purchase copy of Dragon Age 2.
5 - Can we play Male and Female Hawke?
Yes you can choose male or female Hawke.
6 - How do I get the demo for my Xbox 360 or my PS3?
The xbox 360 demo will be available through Live. The PS3 demo will be available through Playstation Network.
It's better than the recommended specs. It'll most likely run DX11 quite well.

Me? I'm stuck with the 5750 version... Posted Image

Regarding lappy gaming, those gpus typically are a tier or two slower than a discrete card you'd find on a desktop pc.  I don't think the mobility radeon 5870 quite exceed the HD 5850 stated in the requirements, but then, theres not a whole lot of laptop gpus that exceed that 5870 anyway.

In any case, unless your hooking that laptop up into a gigantuan HD monitor, I seriously doubt it'll have performance issues with dx11.

These are pretty sweet requirements. I'm glad this game will be available to the larger audience with ~ 2 year old computers

Are the PC requirements for Dragon Age 2 all that different from Dragon Age Origins? Is Dragon Age 2 more demanding of your PC?

one answer. if you can play mass effect 2 with turning on all video setting, then DA 2 is no problem at all because system requirement is very similar. I don't think that Bioware games video settings are not really different from each other.

This is true, but it should be noted that if DX11 is enabled then folk are likely to experience a performance drop, while in theory hardware tesselation does not cost much in terms of performance in practice it can be quite different, I believe I already posted this somewhere in this thread but I will post again http://unigine.com/products/heaven/ it's a benchmark program, it also allows you to turn tessellation on and off while running the program, on my HD5870 there is a significant difference between on and off.

My ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250(And as a whole, the HP G62-347nr laptop) runs the game fine... windowed, no anti-aliasing, Medium quality, at 1024x600 resolution.

It would create a performence drop yes. How much nobody knows until they have had a chance to look at the game on different GPU's and compare fps. Playability will depend on what resolution you play games at.
