Maybe only the essential parts are installed to the hard drive, and the rest runs off the CD? Or its really fancy compression, like someone suggested.

It really wouldn't make sense to install only some of the stuff from the disk but have some stuff be read off the disk. Older games did that when hard drive space was a precious commodity, but I've not seen that in many modern games- especially with digital download.

It could be compression I guess, but still, seems a bit odd.

7GB? You must be joking! I expect at least 10GB.

Hm yeah the 7gigs is a bit... strange, but other than that seems reasonable

Woot, that 7gigs is a bit...

BG1+2+expansions = 6 gigs, NWN 1 deluxe = 8,7gigs, Jade Empire = 7,8 gigs

Edit: Saying that 7 gigs is a minimum install feature option what will read the disc 24/7, probably slowing loading times, could save you a lot of trouble.

Ah, you huys and your conspiracy theories. "Oh no, 7 gig, we're doomed!". Really? ;) Well, at least you guys gave me a good smile! :D

I also think it'll be great seeing DirectX 11 in action, can't wait!

What kind of things will DirectX 11 do? If we're getting tessellation or better depth of field I may upgrade to Windows 7. I dislike the depth of field effect in Dragon Age and Mass Effect; it looks so bad. I'd rather turn it off completely, but If I'm going to be stuck with it I want it to look good.

I'm also quite worried about the HD space requirement... Afraid we'll get a short 13-17 hour game.

Since the devs aren't commenting on the HD requirement, and they would, then methinks it's true we're probably going to get quite a shortish game, relatively speaking. In that case, with lots of other great titles coming out next year, I'll likely wait till the price comes down somewhat.

Just a query for you more tech savvy folks...

Minimum reqs say 256 Mb GeForce 7900 gs. Does that mean my 512 Mb GeForce 7600 gs definitely won't cut it??

Screw the 7Gb, it's most probably compressed to hell.

What worries me is I have running Win7 32bit on my Laptop. Don't tell me I can't run the game because it doesn't support 32bit!? That'd be lame!

unfortunately, yes, that does mean that to play the game smoothly (on lowish graphics) you will likely need to upgrade to a new video card

Oh sweet. I'm going to get a new comp, so that would definitely cover my specs.

Now I'm strongly tempted to pre-order the Signature Edition...

I honestly don't mind if it was that length. If there is replay value with many different variations, then it would be worth it. But I think it could be rather tight compression.

I sent a PM to Priestly about the 32bit issue. Doesn't seem kosher to me with Windows 7-32bit not being supported.

7GB? Well Bioware did say it was longer than Awakening but shorter than Origins.

CPU heavy game, huh. Hopefully DA2 will not have the same technical issues as DAO.

AMD Phenom II X3 Triple core

 I've been waiting for a long time for this!  When did the Tri cores ever become the PC standard witin the community. They are effectively defunct Quad cores and don't really exist.

On the side note: could anybody tell me if the GTS-450 would be playablesish with DX11(and decent level of detail)  on a 1360x768 res?

Maybe a short basic game, then six or more expansions for you to purchase at regular intervals over the next 18 months - Why have a 'full' $60 game when it can be spread out to $140

Owh dear... *makes list*
I need:
- New processor (and maybe new mobo)
- New graphcard

Complete new pc might be better. >>'

But I'm really happpy about the Win7 64bit, in the beginning I was worried with DAO that it wouldn't work properly, but good to know DA2 will definitely work with 64bit. =3
