Fav is tied at Thane and Miranda. Best stories and characters ingame, and of course, the warp nukes. Best part was, my main Shep is a Sentinel just like Miranda.+1200 warp nuke!!!

I don't like Jack. Put some clothes on and learn some manners, and we'll talk. Until then you follow MY orders and stop telling me to eff off, okay? This is non-negotiable. Why exactly did I agree to recruit a crazy serial killer again, anyway?
I don't like Morinth. I never recruited her.
I dislike Grunt. I understand he can't be another Wrex, but he's just another boring hotheaded thug-type, and to top it off who knows when his brainwashing is going to actually influence his behavior. How many times have I seen this same character type? A few hundred, maybe? The fact that he's a krogan doesn't change much; previous posters were correct about some of the NPCs having more depth. I'd rather recruit the Patriarch. Or the Proud Papa. Or I Want To Go To The Citadel.
If I'm perfectly honest, I don't care for Tali. In my first ME1 playthrough I thought that she was cool. After that I realized she was a walking codex. In ME2 she still is, but she tells a little about her dad. She's a bit more developed but by now she should feel like my best friend, and she doesn't, unlike Garrus--who's turned into a psychotic merc-slayer, but still somehow feels like my Shepard's best friend.
Ashley's bigotry always bothered me. The line about loving your dog but it still being a dog... Yeah, well, Ash, aliens are people. Granted dogs are people in a way too, but they aren't sapient. If an alien who is my best friend is in trouble, I'm going to rescue him before I rescue, say, that pro-human politician dude from ME1. (I'd say Udina but the more I play through, the more I see that he's not as much of a jerk as he appears to be, even though he obviously has issues with Shepard.)
Everyone else I'm pretty okay with. I am not wild about Jacob, but as long as we're Just Friends, he's okay. As I said, Tali really needs some more development before I actually like her. I want to like her but I just can't. Kaidan's kind of boring and I'd like it if he wanted to know more about Shepard instead of just telling her his whole life story, but until Horizon, he's also a nice guy. The loyalty and respect you get from Garrus makes him Shepard's best friend. And Liara? Well, her fangirlism may be annoying, as is her flirtiness if you're not into her, but even though she's totally different in ME2 from ME1 in a surprising way, you have to admire her intelligence and her determination. I even like things about Zaeed--his personality is abrasive, but at least I can punch him for it in his loyalty mission. And Kasumi's like my best friend...
So yeah, there are lots I don't like or I'm ambivalent toward, and lots I just adore.

To do that all you'd have to forget is to get the heavy armour for the Normandy but do the rest of the mission as normal to save the others.

Do you mean that in a "too nice to kill off characters even if you hate them" way, or that you haven't figured out how to get her killed off? Just curious. I must be one of very few people who managed to kill her off accidentally...Brass_Buckles wrote...
I don't like a lot of the cast of ME2, if you want me to be perfectly honest. Least favorite's definitely Miranda, thanks to her coldness and her desire for control and oh, yeah, the control chip comment. I can't trust her, and I also can't kill her off in the final mission. She's there for eye candy for the guys, and to be a whiny controlling butthole, apparently.

I also quite like Jack. Not because I like to be told to f**k off but because I like her story and the way she turned out to be as a result. Her personality is realistic. Her childhood has been ripped apart and then turned rogue as a result and hide their insecurity by hating everyone. She reveals her vulnerability every now and then and then reverts back to effing. Streets are full of such personalties. Combat wise I do find her quite useful - she suits my game style. I do have cooler tats myself though. I guess I like realistic personality in companion more than character traits.
Tali is cute personality but I find no room for her in my squad. Her skills are not what I need.
I am very disappointed that I can't carry Legion with me more. He is just too cool. I went through Overlord with Thane and Legion and the team rocked. If I had had Tali instead of Legion.. well.. not so much.
Miranda I don't use that much. I don't like her personality, but its not why I don't use her. I just find having Thane and some random wanderer with some minor biotic powers or Jack enough for my team. Her hopping on the boxes to get shot is quite common and babysitting her is annoying.
I'm trying to be open minded about the companion skills and change the team constantly (however the weakness of me is that I always have Thane with me because he has a skill sets for every situation - warp - yeijj..). Now I have even learned to love Grunt as I have forced myself to have him with me.
Long story short: Jacob and Tali or Miranda.

In terms of role play, a dislike Grunt for reasons mentioned by Brass_Buckles. I miss Wrex a lot.
Zaeed is a jerk, but a useful one.
At the beginning I didn't like my squad, the one from ME1 felt more natural, it was o group of humans and aliens united by a common purpose and I liked all of them. In ME2 most of them is not attached to Shepard or dedicated for his mission. I got used to it, eventually, but the only characters that appeared in ME2 and I really want to see in ME3 are Legion and maybe Miranda.
@Brass_Buckles: I believe that Morinth is worth trying at least once. She has some unique dialogue, a cool power and is the only opportunity for Shepard to die onboard Normandy SR2

Tali. She was forced down my throat and her romance is brought up a thousand and two times while I don't really care.
You know, despite all the fan backlash, and her persistent romance, I do like Tali. But it's definitely a platonic big brother/big sister feeling. But I haven't gotten to the point in my ManShep game where her romance kicks in. We'll see how I feel then--sorry, Tali, jerkass ManShep is better as your **** of an older brother figure.

Jacob
Because I feel sorry for the guy, but sympathy be damned I can't change how I feel about him. He's got no personality, just a deep and usually angry sounding voice. Every other character on the team had some kind of quirk that made me like them (Grunt being childish, Tali having a nice accent, Garrus being like a best friend, Jack being so full of anger, Mordin and his siiiiiiiiiiiiiiinging, Legion's robot dance, Samara's honor code, Miranda being Australian and Thane's spirituality) everyone had a quirk, but Jacob's only real quirk was the oddity of not having a quirk in the first place.
He's not a bad character by any means I just, barely talk to him. That said, he's not as bad as the evil witch Morinith but given she never gets a chance to set foot on the Normandy I don't really count her.
Also second is Miranda. Yes it's cool to see Aussie bombshell Yvonne Strahowski getting some love in games but I couldn't get over the games obsession with showing off her rump at the most inappropriate times. Plus I could never shake the feeling that the game was trying to sell her as a replacement for Ashley and no one could ever replace my Shepard's cuddly little Ashley. Not in a million years.
Also, I don't buy for a second that she's really as ashamed of her 'genetically perfect body' as she claims she is, if she were then one would think she would at least wear underpants.
Also while I like Tali as a sort of surrogate little sister, I couldn't stand even thinking about her romance. Just saying.
Thinking about it, I still prefer the old team. The new team has a lot more variety but still everyone in the old team felt more like a group of friends, closely netted together.

But then don't YOU and the other teammate die if she dies?
Or can you make it with only one teammember?

I just started a fresh playthrough after a few months away from the game, and was amazed all over again at how useless he is in combat. Everything he can do other squaddies can do better. Pull field? Samara has that and Area Reave. Incendiary ammo? You can get that from Grunt, who is much more resilient and can put it on the Mattock or Vindicator.
As a character he's bland and uninteresting. I always play femshep so there's also the annoying auto-flirting (admittedly, not his fault, but still part of the overall Jacob experience.) He's also forced into every post recruitment scene when most of my Shepards hate Cerberus, want as little to do with the official members as possible, wouldn't want his opinion and wouldn't have let him into the room in the first place so that he could give his unsolicited opinion. Again not really Jacob's fault so much as a bad choice made by the game designers. Still. The Jacob Experience.
Character wise my second least favorite has to be Miranda, it's the whole Cerberus lackey thing. But she's at least an interesting character with a very useful skillset.
Combat wise my second least favorite is Tali. Legion just does it better.

Jacob is dull, but only because he is being thrown in with so many people of extreme personalities. But I don't like him anyway. When he called Garrus a 'cuttlebone,' that was it. Also, femshep feels the need to rape Jacob everytime she speaks to him, ugh!
I actually like Jack, she develops as a character and there is more to her than people think.
Miranda is the one I really don't like, she whinges about being perfect and acted like a b**** from the start. In my opinion anyway...
