Mass Effect 3 squad mate ideas

i was hoping we could post request/ideas/theories/hopes for ME3 squad mates specifically to one post
My hopes for squad mates:
1. Bring back as many ME1 and ME2 squadies as possible... otherwise its a waste of character developement (even with npc/cameo roles, like wrex, i felt as if my time with that character from the previous game was a waste, but with garrus i felt like i really acomplished something)
2. Armor customization like the one designed for shepard. I love customizing sheps armor, and id like to do the same for all of my squad mates, not just changing their outfit color like in ME2
3. Modify squad mates combat styles, like in dragon age, i.e. when enemy has <75% health use Biotic Pull
4. Squadmates of as many different races as possible. There were four humans in ME2 out of twelve? (jacob, miranda, zaeed and kasumi) which is about a 1/3 of the squad... and in ME1 there were two humans out of 6 squad mates which is also 1/3... Id like to see less human squad mates and more different alien races, like a batarian or even an elcor (heavy weapon squad mate?) and my biggest hope... a VOLUS squadmate, yes a volus, perhaps the volus design a war/combat suit that makes them capable of fighting
5. Squad mate with use of a heavy weapon... Not as much ammo for their weapon as shep has, but enough so they can use it, and not all squadmates could use heavy weapons, maybe just one or two (like an elcor)
6. Bring back the loyalty aspect, but more advanced then ME2.. Instead of doing one mission that makes a squad mate 100% loyal to you, make a system like KOTOR II and Dragon Age, where each action the player does impacts the squadmates loyalty
these are just what i can think of off the top of my head, ill add more if i think of them, please add your own ideas as well

2. Keep the ME2 squad mates as the lackeys to follow Shepard around.
3. Volus (who actually hides in combat and does not help fight at all), Elcor, Hanar, Rachni squad mates.
4. Dynamic shifting squad based that interacts with itself and giving you the power to play match maker for all the dating sim people who play Mass Effect (As long as it doesn't detract from the plot to make room for it, if it does then no)
5. Even more squad interaction, ME2 was a good step, but I want Kotor levels of squad interaction where they actually comment about side quests and take issue with your actions.

2. Sounds cool, but how about we just make sure they all have armor to begin with?
3. Dunno about that, but smarter AI in general would be great, as in AI that realizes it's using a sniper rifle and not a shotgun.
4. I just want a batarian and a female turian ;P
5. I don't see why one or two squadmates (like Zaeed) couldn't have a rocket launcher or something... but I won't be heartbroken if it doesn't happen, since balance might get tricky.
6. Sounds awesome. The loyalty mission thing was great, but doesn't need to be done again.
Hey, anyone want to guess how many new squaddies we'd be getting? I estimate it at no less than two, no more than six.
Oh, and more squad-to-squad interaction, a la Miranda and Jack's occasional quips at each other.

1: Lots of people saying this, lots of people negative of it (though majority are pissed off ME LI fans that they didn't get quality time with their fave in ME2 and thus feel same should happen to all ME2 squadmates in ME3 IMHO)
2: No... I am Shepard, I dress Shepard, I don't need to babysit for my squad. Give them 'Hazard' outfits to wear in hazardous areas or areas which should be sterile (no skin, hair open to the elements), but I don't see the need to play 'dressup the squad'.
3: highly doubtful they'll add a 'tactics' scenario, increase the AI maybe sure, but can't see the tactics thing.
4: You alien lovers are racist to humans
5: Firstly, Squadmates ammo = infinite, secondly the only person I'd trust with a Heavy Weapon is me. It's bad enough with the enemy firing them, don't need some crazy fool squadmate firing a Cain when am charging at an enemy.
6: If there is one thing I would say the majority of people want to see gone (specially if we are having to re-recruit people) it's the loyalty system. At this point Shepard should be looking for people they trust, not people that Shep has to gain the trust/focus of. Besides with regards your idea, it's already in play. Renegade/Paragon is most likely going to decide some squadmates I imagine in ME3, I could give an example but this topic is in the NO SPOILERS ALLOWED forum so I can't... but clue, she has a daughter.

Possibly allow a few new squaddies to replace dead ones or in exchange for existing ones?
Squaddies to have actual armour and helmets in environments that require it, armour to be moddable similar to Sheps.
More conversations with squaddies - less 'i've got calibrations to do'
More interaction between squaddies ie, conversations in hub areas, random comments when they see something interseting or when Shep does something (dragon age had really good team member interactions), and interactions on the ship - Kotor 2 was really good at this and gave a good idea of the characters motivations, opinions and state of mind.

I was thinking more along the lines of grenade launcher or arc charger
I want to add the ability to say no to ANY squad mate, if you dont want them... like garrus in ME1

i hope they improve the AI, when im playing i want to feel like my squadmates can take on a whole band of mercs. Thane for example hes supposed to be this bad ass assasin but it doesnt feel like it when you actually play alongside with him...he usually runs out and gets killed in every mission.
Wouldn't it be awesome if they knew how to stay in cover until their shields regenerated?

Pfft no. Then what would we have medi-gel for.

Some are plot essential though (Liara in ME1 and Mordin in ME2) can't finish the game without them.TuRiAn_AllY wrote...

I find medi-gel most useful in quickly healing Shepard, with the proper upgrades of course.

Having less squad members would make something like this easier, I think.
I'd like to see a Batarian squadie, so that we can get a new perspective on that species. I'm not sure how feasible it would be, but an Elcor would be great. Hanar or Volus crew-members could also be interesting, though I doubt they'd be fighters (but a merchant? Sure).

(1) Make a number of missions follow the Lair of the Shadowbroker style - if character X is alive then they join you for a particular mission as a squadmate, if not then you get a placeholder character or a random squadmate. Whether character X is alive could have ramifications for the mission. This is sort of an extended cameo - but much more satisfying than the ME2 cameos.
(2) Have certain squadmates only available for certain parts of the game. Make up a plausible reasons for them being missing during those portions of the game (Maybe Garrus takes Thane and Miranda and Legion on a B-team mission, for example). If you think about it, this is actually how they implemented the squaddies in ME2 (i.e. you couldn't recruit certain characters until the second half of the game).

1) All the previous squadmates to be back in ME3 or at least the LIs
2) More dialogue and squad interaction
3) More aliens and less humans
4) Expand on the previous romances
...I might think of more later

2) Agent 47 as a squaddie. He'll solve everything.

Grunt will sometimes rush ahead without being ordered because he likes to.
Legion will always prefer to stay back and snipe because he loves sniping and despises CQC.
Zaeed will use cover and advance more intelligently because of his experience and self-preservation.
Garrus, having the same weapons as Zaeed, will advance much more recklessly because he is a "hothead (Harkin's description of him)" and much more willing to risk his life for Shepard.
Personally, I find these aspects of "unintelligence" in squadmates to be very in character and gratifying. I would prefer that to not change. I respect the personal combat styles of my squadmates.
