Can I still make Sigrun a Grey Warden?

I just got her quest to make her a Grey Warden, but when I talk to the Senschal, he tells me its time to gather the army together and go get some.  Sooo..am I screwed?

Ah yes, that bug. The same case happened to me but with Velanna. If you get either Velanna or Sigrun last (Justice doesn't need to become a Warden) you'll be unable to speak to Varel about making them Wardens, since he'll be locked on talking about the Darkspawn invasion. Unless there's a patch Bioware miraculously pulls out of their asses, the short term problem solver is to get Sigrun/Velanna first, then getting Justice. That way, anyone who needs to be a Grey Warden will be a Grey Warden in the end.

You're not screwed. Before you fight The Lost there is an option to return to the Knotwood Hills. Take it and return to the Keep. Since the quest is not complete until the Broodmothers are dead you can talk to Varel without triggering the "gather your army" scene. Sigrun can take her Joining then.

But I killed the Lost and broodmothers in Ka'Horal already, and right after that is when I offer to Sigrun to become a Grey Warden. Even after I tell Varel to gather the army, I'll still have one "downtime" section after that?

Your current save is screwed because of the quest conflict. If you want to complete Sigrun's Joining, you'll have to re-play from a point where you haven't killed The Lost yet.

Oh. Ok, so, next question: Will Sigrun not becoming a Grey Warden affect the ending?

That I don't know because I chose to eat the 1.5 - 2 hours of gameplay and re-do it. (I fell victim to the same bug, myself.) Even if there's no problem with the Awakening epilogue, you never know what flags it may jinx for DA2 imports.

Well, I can't afford to do that, don't think I have a earlier enough save sad to say.

I don't believe so.  If Sigrun agrees to become a Grey Warden, then from then out the game seems to assume that she IS one including (at least in the one epilog where I had the same problem) times when she isn't able to be initiated.

The wiki is fuzzy on this...

Apparently if you do not make her a Warden, but have her join you, then it does affect the ending...

I have not done this, and did not even think she could join without agreeing to be a Warden.

I would say try it anyway... and sorry for the bug.

But it also depends on a couple of choices you still have yet to make.

You sure.  You can have Sigrun join you and not have her agree to join the Grey Wardens, but in my experience (which could easily be incomplete in this area), if she agrees to become a Grey Warden, then the game treats her as one whether you actually put her through the ritual or not again IIRC and IMX.

Ha! Too quick for me!

I think you might be right, Polaris.

I have never tried this myself, and have always had Sigrun as a Warden.

The wiki is abit dodgy for a few of the endings, too.

On the console version at least, I use Griffon's Beak to check a PC's "warden status". It's legit because Oghren can't equip it till after the Joining.

I'm almost at the end of an awakening playthrough where Sigrun hasn't taken the joining, but is in my party.

I'll let you know how it plays out.

In my playthrough, Sigrun didn't Join for the same reason, and I couldn't do her personal quest due to another bug. (The Law and Order bug) Her approval was high from gifts and from being nice to her.

SPOILERS

I brought her with me to the endgame, so she lived through the end of the game. I didn't kill the Architect, which she was all shades of sad about. Her ending slide said that she lost purpose after the Mother had been put down, and that she got more and more withdrawn until one morning she had vanished leaving a note saying she had gone to her Calling.

Poor little Sigrun. I let her down.

The fact she had "gone to her calling" in the Epilog is pretty much proof positive that in your game she was considered a bonafide warden.

I'm sure she could have joined as soon as the Wardens had facilities up and running after the big battle at the end. I think I let her down because I don't think I did things correctly so she had a "good" ending.

Wow. Had both Sigrun and Justice attack me at the architect when i sided with him.....never had that happen before, just various shades of disapproval. Maybe it was because both of their influence was negative, even the persuade check didn't work. Sigrun hadn't gone through her joining. Ending said she turned on her Warden commander and went to her death, this time not running way.

How sad. In this playthrough, i destroyed my three favorite Wardens (betrayed Anders to the templars, and let me tell you, sending Alistair to be executed did not make me feel as utter a slimebag as betraying Anders did :( )

Do you know if there is anyone else who can attack if they have low approval and you disagree about the Architect? Can Velanna?

I'd imagine so, I'd imagine all of your companions in Awakening, if you have very low approval with them, would attack you if they disagreed about your choice of dealing with the architect. Had Anders been there, I'd imagine he would have joined Sigrun and Justice.

So I'd imagine of the three companions that support sparing the architect, (velana, Nathaniel, and Oghren) if you chose to kill him while they were in your party, I think they would attack (especially Velanna, since she gets really pissy and has a rather unpleasant epilogue if you kill him, but she remains in the party).
