I hope this guy returns in Mass Effect 3 (I kept him alive in ME 1 just to see a second encounter with my Shepard).

Especially with the supposed human/batarian story conflicts/resolutions in ME 3, this guy's appearence could be extra special for those of us who kept him alive.

I don't even want it to be a sidequest. I just want to walk into some dingy bar for a drink and run into him. Balak promptly spills his drink, tries to bolt, and gets mercilessly gunned down. Then Shepard gets that drink.

That would be great.  And then toss the bartender a few extra creds... with a Han Solo style, "Sorry about the mess."

And then Shepard falls over because someone else tried to poison Balak's drink.

Nah, after surviving once, Shepard has developed an immunity to poisoned drinks. THOSE DAMNED BATARIANS MISSED THEIR CHANCE.

It wasn't a Batarian, it's how you meet Thane again after going through the arbitrary separation in between ME2 and ME3. XD

Then Thane goes to check on his target and freaks.

He's all apologetic and Shepard's just like "Not to worry, my green scaly friend. I'm too much of a man to succumb to drink poison."

I would love to see Balak be Elnora 2.0 just walk into the bar and completely blow him away before he even has a chance to get up.

Hmm, I just now became interested in encountering him in one of those sidequests, where protagonist and enemy have to work together in order to survive; lots of room for character building, tension, decisions and relatively-non-infodump exposé on the human/batarian situation.

(EDIT: ..in ME2 DLC, mind, not waiting until ME3.)

I want to see how brave that sickly-green bastard is without hostages to hide behind...

Hadn't thought about Balak in a long time. Wouldn't be surprised if he was a collector collaborator if he shows up again. Remember that not everyone knows the whole Reaper story or believes it. The fool could join the Reapers in their attack on the Council races. Remember all that bitterness he had concerning them, how Shepard taunted him about how the Batarians went "running to the Council" when the humans successfully counter-attacked? By the time he found out what the Reapers were really up to, he'd be indoctrinated or be too late anyway.

That would be very interesting, would really be a good payoff for letting him go in ME 1.

What's going to be the extra special for those who kept him alive renegade style?

I say: you had your chance to kill the scum, and there shouldn't be any second chances. So if Balak is to return, it'd better bite the paragons in the arse. However, I realize that they can't be punished for each and every singe one of their stupid decisions, since it would be too miserable a game for them. Therefore, the Rachni queen must be it, while Balak, Vido, Elnora, etc. should die of old age, if let loose once.

It'd be interesting to encounter him again, in whatever capacity. Also, like always, Renegades who complain about the outcome of choices that they don't make are silly.

Then complain about you not getting content, not us getting it. I promise you, I have no problems with Renegades getting more content for their decisions.

Yeah, that's definitely silly.

No it gets even more silly though Zulu.

Basically from what I've read of some of these alleged 'Paragons' they basically want the chance to kill Balak only this time without any consequences (renegade shift or more to the point, innocents getting killed).

So basically, it is the Paragons who are complaining because they want the chance to kill someone without consequence. They probably want Vido and Elnora too...

"Turns out basic Police work isn't hard, you just have to leave the station!"

If Balak is back in ME3, simple, they should make you have to choose whether to kill him letting a tower block with 10,000 workers inside die from a bomb he has set to go off if he dies or save them at the expense of Balak escaping again. Reason for escalation in numbers is because you were too weak to kill him the first time ;) course with the former, you still get a renegade hit, but it ain't as bad as what it would have been without the alternate consequence.
Edit:
Renegades who killed balak still can get this mission but as there is no Balak, there is no bomb and the terrorists he was with are easily subdued in comparison.
Default ME2-ME3 Sheps and PS3 Sheps have to deal with Balak, but they basically get the option to kill him at expense of the 10,000 or save them at the expense of Balak escaping.
