Hi.
I was wondering. When I played ME2 some of the choices (I think) I made in ME1 affected the story. I presume ME3 might have something similar. So my question goes; How does ME know what actions I made?
The reasons I ask is that I don't think all people continue to have one or more versions installed on their PC until the next game come out. And what happens if you reinstall your PC. Is it based on save games? In that case how does ME2 / ME3 figure out if you load an old save game after completing the game or you have more chars?
I'm just curious as to wether or not I should install my old ME1/ME2 when ME3 comes out.
Thanks!
Progress from earlier games

It's bases on save games. Also all of your decisions in ME1 are imported to ME2 including whether or not you completed the stupid collection quests. ME2 just doesn't check that data or even have a flag for it, although it does have a flag for using the trinket on the artifact. Also Bioware stated all your decisions will impact ME3.
