Quick Edit: Why does everyone hate/want to kill off Thane and Garrus? Thane for some reason reminds me of James Bond and with Garrus, it'd be like killing off your best friend since 2nd grade. 

I didn't get that either. Thane and Garrus are the best of the NPC soldiers in my experience. When I played through as Infiltrator, having Thane and Garrus as squad mates meant there wasn't a type of enemy that couldn't be dealt with. Miranda's squad bonuses are great, and in my opinion the only two characters that I'd pair together without Miranda are Thane and Garrus. When I had an idea of what I'd be up against, Miranda + Thane or Miranda + Garrus was a pretty uber squad.

Thane, Zaeed, and Garrus. But mine have nothing to do with hating the characters, I like to play the game like an actual written story.  It is supposed to be the darker chapter of the trilogy after all.

Thane, because he's dying anyway, and it seems almost poetic for him to go down fighting (Thane died on my first playthrough bc I chose him as the second team leader, and it almost made me cry).

Zaeed, for a reason similar to Thane, because he's a soldier, and he seems like the type who would want to go out fighting.

And Garrus for the emotional aspect. Losing the best friend on the team (at least, I consider Garrus as Sheppard's best friend on the team) would remind me of when they killed off Chewie in the Star Wars books.

My Shepard (role playing here) would sacrifice these people in this order:

Miranda.
Thane. (Poor guys close enough as it is ...)
Samara.
Jacob.
Jack.
Grunt.
Zaeed.
Legion.
Kasumi.
Garrus.
Tali.

Honestly, me, myself (not my shepard) would be torn if I had to chose though.
I honestly like all the characters in some way.

This was tricky for me, but I choose Jacob, Zaeed and Jack.

I'm surprised at how many people have chosen Legion and Tali, given how much foreshadowing both of their races received in ME:2. Some people must want to miss out on content...

Hard choices ,
Jack while the VO actress and the toon is HAWT , I wish they didn´t go for the extreme ripley chronicle looks , and mix it up with the unstable character ..that has no way a valid way for redemption .

Zaeed honestly thats one boring guy infact I expected that person to backstab me , especially since cerebus paid him . now cerebus is pissed off cause i blown up there collectors base .

Well the last one i am in toss up , cause the rest all have there flaws and merits .
But nobody I would really like changed or dead that much .

Geez, why all the Thane hate? As for me, I would probably kill off Jacob (boring, no real impact on the story, just overall unappealing), Miranda (pretty much for the same reason as Jacob), and Zaeed.

Jack, because of her actions and attitude. Now I can understand wanting those responsible for Pragia, dead. But her actions afterwords render her suspect in my eyes.

Thane, Not that I don't like him or anything (quite the opposite in fact), but he has a very limited lifespan and I don't want anyone else to die.

Jacob, the most boring squadmate of ME2, hell I like Carth and Carth 2.0 more than him.

My Shep would sacrifice, in this order, with reasons where applicable:

Samara (would willingly sacrifice herself)
Thane (ditto, though less explicitly so)
Zaeed (I'm still mad about that fire)

Miranda (only below Jacob because her sister needs her)
Jack
Kasumi
Mordin (he's old, and willing to die for a cause. Will be proud posthumously)
Legion (a major hope for galactic peace)
Grunt (I sort of feel like he's my kid)
Garrus ()
Tali (has more potential to do good in the universe long term than anyone else, I think.)

but if I have to choose three to leave they would be (in order):

Zaeed, Kasumi and Thane.

I didn't really feel the DLC characters added anything useful to the game (except a better SMG and potetial plot twist with the graybox).  Zaeed especially was annoying and had no beneficial powers.

While I like Thane, his abilities were nearly useless in combat and he died entirely too easily (kind of a paradox for an assassin).

Tali first, of course. I'd kill her multiple times if I could (fried chicken!). Then Zaeed, and then I'd flip a coin to see who among Grunt, Jack, Jacob, and Miranda (sadly, but she IS Cerberus) gets the third slot. Of course if I could throw Joker or Kelly to the wolves instead, I'd do that and save the last group. But Tali and Zaeed would die regardless. Under no circumstances would I consider offing Samara, Thane, Garrus, Dr. Chakwas, Kasumi, Mordin, or Legion. Morinth is a special case, of course, and in all likelihood she'd find a way out of whatever predicament we're talking about here.

If three had to die, I'd start with Tali (only team member to die on first play through --- slightly purposefully I'll admit), then probably would choose Jack (rarely used her). I don't really want to lose any of the other ones, though. So I'll just say Thane for no other reason than he'll probably be dead soon. If he didn't have that particular situation, it might be a different story.
