Miranda - that pompous, daddy issue-ridden glorified test tube baby does nothing but rub me the wrong way. She can smirk all she wants and tout Cerberus' goals to help humanity, but if she condones the thresher attack on Akuze and the whole saga with Admiral Kahoku...yeah. I'd use her coffin as a doorstop.

Jacob - Alliance traitor. Go ahead and whine that they sidelined you all you want, Jacob. There's other ways to help than joining up with terrorists.

Thane - NOT because I dislike him. I adore Thane. But is it better to fall in the heat and bravery of battle, or fade away to a shell in a hospital bed? He deserves better than that.

1) Jacob: First, he's mostly useless as a squad mate. Second, he acts like a total D-bag to the infinitely cooler Thane. Third, he's so obliviously insensitive to Tali. "Hey Tali, Cerberus and the Quarians can totally get along. And you should be bestest friends ever with EDI, because your people have such a wonderful history with AIs."

Also, (and I realize this isn't strictly on him) the way FemShep talks to him, good grief that's totally sexual harassment. I thought the way MaleShep approached Kaidan in ME1 was uncomfortable, but my god FemShep practically throws herself at him.

2) Jack: Useless squaddie. Questionable hygiene. I purposely avoided upgrading the Normandy's armor, watching her die was glorious.

3) If Paragon - Thane: He's dying anyway, let him have a heroic death in battle rather than waste away.
If Renegade - Samara/Morinth: Samara's code makes her a threat to Renegade Shep. Morinth is a sociopath and shouldn't be trusted.

I agree with Hollow about Thane. I think he'd rather die in battle than in a hospital. But it doesn't make it any less hard for me. Truth be told i'd rather not kill any of the characters but for the sake of the thread I'll name my three.

Jacob - I don't know. He just never struck a chord with me. Kinda creepy.

Jack - As interesting as she is, she is a bit of a loose cannon.

Samara - I think regardless of Paragon/Renegade she and Shep might just have some problems.

These three I never really connected with. I liked them but they were my least favorite.

Thane - I'd only kill him off if there was no cure in ME3. I know I wouldn't want to die in a hospital gasping my last breaths. I'd want to go out in a blaze of glory.

Jack - I tried to like her character, but she's very one-dimensional and over-tries to be macho.

Zaeed - He's not a bad character, but his loyalty mission still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

And if I have to choose another character... I would pick Miranda. Not that I hate her. She's useful and has a very solid character development, yet I really can't stand her outfit (I honestly don't want a big ass to fill up my screen everytime she features in a cutscene)

I'm replaying on my canon sheperd and am currently having a debate with myself about which characters to kill off.

1. Jacob. He's just so one dimensional, didn't feel any connection to him at all

2. Err...had real trouble with this so I'm gonna pick Jacob

3. But dat priiiize

1. Jack

2. Samara

3. Miranda

Great, now Tali, Liara and Kasumi are the only female squadmates left alive in my galaxy.:P

Jacob. Bland, cliche and tedious. I hated the whole stand-offish and stilted conversations. To the point of when the first flirtatious comments started to arrive I cut the chat short and never spoke to him again. Creepy. Also a Cerberus lackey. He can dress it up however he likes but Cerberus is still an ultra-nationalist (specist?) terrorist organisation with no sense of morality or ethical restraint. Can't wait to kerb stomp the entire structure into dust. Akuze, Kahoku, horrific experiments with creepers and rachni. They are on Chiana Shepard's kill list, for the greater good.

Miranda. Whiny, arrogant, superior, unempathic and confrontational over every detail. I found her intensely unlikeable. The only shred of decency I found in her was her attitude to her sister. Which she had to be verbally provoked into anyway. Also ... Cerberus.

Thane. He bored me. Emo, self-absorbed and endlessly flowery. Jump-cut flashbacks work well in some places as a cinematic flourish. As a conversational gambit? Not so much. He's dying anyway so as I have to choose three he makes up the number.

However Jacob and Miranda are non-negotiable. Chiana is not a great believer in redemption. First chance she gets their Cerberus service records are being handed to the Alliance courts. And they will answer for their crimes. Along with a good proportion of the Normandy crew I guess. :)

@Aiken Drum:

Just asking: does that include Joker? Last I checked, he's been a loyal member of Cerberus for close to 2 years.

I must say I would almost feel most at comfort with the aliens. They are more normal then the humans in your crew.

But Thane can die, horrically.

Zaeed seemingly lived over his time long ago

Jacob or Jack. One Cerberus to much maybe and Jack is Jack.

Want no one dead, Maybe Morinth. That one is a psychotic murderer anyway.

Tali (first and easiest choice), Jack (don't like her very much) and Jacob (nice guy, but I just like the other squadmates better).

If Morinth counts then I'd spare Jacob and kill her, but I always do that anyway. No way I kill Samara before Jacob though.

Now before I start, I just want to say this to the people who are killing off Jacob. You are making a big mistake. Yes he isn't that interesting. Yes he is blander than something that is bland (too tired to think of something right now), and yes, he is easily one of the weaker squadmates, BUT! he is loyal. easily one of the most loyal squadmates you have. he values shepard as a friend, and him speaking his mind gives him glimpses of a backbone.
Having said that, on to my choices.

ZAEED: The least loyal of all your squadmates, I bet if you gave him 50 creds, hed take potshots at shepard on the battlefield.

THANE: No offense to him or his fans, but as he said himself, he is dying. he only has 1 year left (if that) and after that one year, what am I supposed to do with the corpse of a drell assassin?

JACK:She may be a powerful biotic, but she hates Cerberus. and on a Cerberus Frigate, its only a matter of time before she starts seeing the testing facility in everyone.

It's refreshing to see someone defending Jacob.  I don't agree with your reasons, though, as I think you're giving his personality and build too little credit.  But I appreciate the sentiment.

I like all of the ME2 squadmates, so picking ones to die is difficult.  I decided to base my choices primarily off of gameplay.

1) Legion.  I don't particularly care for Bioware's trend of making bad guys into good guys.  It adds depth, but sometimes you just want an enemy that you can fight without worrying about your conscience.  When the geth suddenly gained a voice, and a charismatic one at that, I was a little disappointed, even though I knew I shouldn't have been.  Oh, and his build is awful.

2) Tali.  Sorry, Tali, but I can open boxes without you now.  Oh, and your build is awful.

3) Grunt.  I never use him.  He can tank well enough, even on higher difficulties, but getting him into position is annoying.  It's no fault of his.  I like Grunt as a character, just like Legion and Tali.  But he doesn't complement my playstyle well.
