You know about imposing UI if the full-screen version of the video is at all close to the actual size of playing then it is I find already less imposing then the DA:O one. The DA:O I find took up more screen space then the DA2 one. At least at my 1366x768 resolution.

Obligatory Post -

Please give us a smaller, less imposing UI and health bars. Please give us options or toggles to remove or minimize the UI.

No offense to the UI artists and designers, but those health bars are imposing on my cinematic experience. They are not so vital that I need to be forced to look at them even if I want to look elsewhere. Please give us the option to use the circular health bars/party health from DAO, they were less imposing.

Yeah, I liked the circular portraits as you could actually see the character's portrait, but you also had the health/mana integrated into it nicely and kept things uncluttered. Plus they were in the top left, out of the way.

I like the icons themselves, but they look too large on the bottom of the screen- they're the same size as the portraits. If that was a resolution like 1920x1080 or something, that seems to take up far too much screen space. Same deal with the map- it just takes up an awful lot of space.

Same for me, although I will add that I found the same problem in The Witcher with the female characters, because they were not presented seriously.  Lo and behold we have Isabela's watermelons, too.  <_<

Amusingly, in Witcher 2 Triss wears sensible clothing. She has Isabela's boots and has pants.

I love the character design of her new outfit... looks awesome and also practical.  Her green dress in the first game was hot in a more elegant way, but pretty much everything else she wore in the original was terrible.

Just to phrase it in the form of a simple question:

Do aspects of the UI - portraits/health, the minimap - scale with the resolution?

*sigh* Why does no one answer my question about Evade...?

I'm not convinced just yet. I'm sold on the new combat, but I'm not sure if this will end up being as polished as it should be. ME2 set many standards for me when it comes to polish and visuals in Bioware games and it's seems very doubtful DA2 will match up to those right now.

Regarding the backflip - Mike Laidlaw did say in another thread that the backflip would flip you directly opposite from your opponent - backwards, in other words.  So it doesn't seem you can choose the direction you evade - it's backwards.
So make sure nobody is behind you, I guess.  Posted Image

Hope that helps.

Might as well have just called it Backflip, then. Evade is a bit of a broader term for avoiding attacks... a bit too broad for what the ability entails.

One more question, if anyone would be so kind to answer:
Are normal backstabs still in? Does flankng as rouge still have any statistical benefits?

It may be called Backflip - I'm not sure.

I do believe that rogues still get backstab bonuses - 99% sure that's accurate.

We were told they wont be the same as Origins Backstabs but are still somewhat reminescent.

Clear console port. The graphics are terrible and not taking advantage of the newer GTX 580s and ATI 5000 series of cards.

Remember how bad DA:O looked on the 360 and PS3? Now the PC version is going to look just as bad. Pity.

Looked decent at best. Not a fan of the "manga"ization of the game at all

You people are all ignoring the important part of this video: The warrior doesn't suck.

Tremor. Taunt. Battle Synergy. Stonewall. Bravery. Turn The Battle. Rally. Shield Bash. Second Wind (returns Stamina to 100%).

Look at all those neat, active skills our sword and shield Aveline gets.

Why wear cloth when you can wear nothing at all?

I hope they don't. I think the UI is too big as is already.

Yea the UI is definitely WAY too big (not to even mention the fact that it looks out of place in a fantasy game - it would fit perfectly in Mass Effect)

I can't believe I missed the fact that Varric only goes invis, when in a cloud of smoke. So If I do attacks or spells the kick up a lot of dust, I provide my little Dwarven friend with cover in which to conceal himself while he fires.

This should prove interesting

I do

That does not mean however that I'm opposed to a good looking outfit when they decide not to wear armor.
Both Triss & Isabela both refuse to wear armor (Heaven knows why) but at least Triss is wearing something, & has a much more unique outfit than Isabela's lack there of.

I liked how the gameplay was. :D But also, i got concerned about the graphics. Cause if that was sett to high, then that is something to worry about. But like i said, great gameplay vid. Tok a lot of my worries away.

To be sure, if a developer answered 'yes' to that question, you couldn't be sure that they mean that objects are exactly the same relative size.

In DA:O, for example, the hotbar at the bottom scales horizontally 100% by adding more slots while the icons in it become slightly smaller at a higher rez.

Thank goodness for the pause and 'strategery' ability .... I would not care to be forced to play real time. So, thanks for that Bioware. :)

Have to agree with the other comments about the UI though....way too much space taken up by those honking-great horizontal health bars. Would love to have the option to go back to the circular style portraits etc like DA:O.

Did anyone else think Mike was a bit on edge? I was expecting him to say 'satisfied now?' at the end. lol.

I wish he had shown the overhead view, if it is still in game

Pretty much. I don't get this whole 'Dragon Age meets Dragon Ball Z' art style.

I hate this ****ing manga ****.

I have a question. will we still have the same difficulty setting like in DAO, I mean the AoE skills in the video seems did not cause damage to party members like the easy mode in DAO, want to know if there are more hardcore difficulty settings
