One thing I find funny is how you had that one interview discussing the lack of iso view and tactical camera because the ceilings were too awesome. And yet in the combat video, the camera is firmly focused on the floor most of the time.

Furthermore, there's no ceiling...

There are no celings outside? Outrage.

Rogue!Hawks gift appears to be mobility, at least when using melee tactics. Get in, hit your target and getg out before they can recover. I do wonder how the specializations will work with the character we saw in the vid. Perhaps Bioware would be so kind as to give us a hint or three?

That must be an exception. Clearly, if ceilings are so important they dictated the change to how the camera is handled, they must be featured prominently throughout the game.

I demand a government investigative committee be assembled to ascertain the feasability of having an investigative panel be assembled and attempt to provide a list of solutions for this grievance of outrage!

I think the camera is stuck looking at the floor because it was zoomed out in the video (It does this in DA:O too between the over the shoulder level with the horizion view and before you hit the iso cam switch point).  If it's zoomed in all the way and you're inside, we'll probably see the ceiling.  Outside we'll see the sky I hope.

It can be seen around 1:13 and 2:44 marks when the camera angle changes.

..They didn't put the iso view (which I loved, a major reason why the PC version pwns the console version), because they want us to admire the ceiling?

Seriously?

I think it has to do with scalable textures, or a lack thereof. I going to miss having the option.

Slightly more accurately, if i remember the explanation right they've decided not having the pop-up top part of the levels would make things easier for the level designers, who wouldn't then have to worry about this aspect Posted Image

I have a small question, is it posible to play like an "action rpg" in nightmare difficulty?.

And in posible i mean, not dying in almost every battle with regular gear.

I seriously hope not!

On another topic, i don't really like the spells icons, too cartoonish for me, but the game looks pretty cool. Thanks for the video.

There's generally more than one reason for things.

That statement is a decent reply to about 30% of the posts in this forum.

Yeah having the game designed as an Iso-view (like DAO was) changes a lot of things with level design. Not just ceilings or fading ceilings but the way walls and so forth are designed so theres as little blocking and awkward angles. Plus the whole texture swapping they did when you went into iso-view and few other things. It lets them focus things more, ceiling is probably the least of the reasons.

Least I can't see it being a primary but it would let them put more attention into it since they're assured it'll get viewed more often. Another thing with the angles is enemy encounters, knowing the camera wont be up in the sky (or can't to the same extent) they can have a better control over encounters for the views. A lot of DAO encounters where setup with the idea that it would be played in iso-view which made some awkward moments for me on console not being able to use it.

So, good chance one of the reasons they took it away (which I think is a little silly) is to keep the experience more cohesive amongst all platforms, though the texture thing is probably one of the big factors for speed and keeping sizes down and all that.

*Crazed giggling*

Okay, here's my first impressions of this video:

1.  That lighting makes Mike Laidlaw look REALLY WEIRD.
2.  I like the screen layout/diamond icons better than the squares in Origins.
3.  I can play in a more "considerate" manner?  *cough* should be "considered" *cough*
4.  I like the camera angle.  It occurs to me that one reason I didn't like the camera much in Origins was that the rooms were just too dang big in many cases.  I felt like I could never quite zoom out enough.  I'm wondering whether we'll have some more interesting claustrophobic-type areas in 2.  Or not, who knows.
5.  Thus far, I think combat looks pretty good.
6.  Oh, I like that the circles-under-feet were removed.
7.  I liked that Aveline seemed to stand still in the face of the assault rather than getting shoved hither and yon every time one of the enemies got up on her and the computer tried to reconicle their "spacing".

We actually mean considerate. What's not shown there are the 'Apologize Profusely' and 'Pay for Funeral' abilities.

Supposedly Iso view was removed, you can just zoom out along the same plane that they have for character view, which they sort of show.

I'm guessing not. The demo was supposed to be really easy, but I know I ended more than one battle with only a sliver of hp left. It was really tempting to play in the "action" style, what with the cool animations and everything (playing as Bethany was awesome; I love the mage animations). By the time I tore my eyes away from the action on screen to look at my hp bar, it was clear that I would have died if it had been possible in the demo.

I don't think that style of playing is going to be as easy as it sounds on any difficulty, not just nightmare.

Truth be told, the shape of abilities icons combined with the style keeps making me think i'm about to take a driving license test...

I'm fine with idle pose they strike during battle, like Hawke's dual dagger pose, but is the animation to go back into that pose going to get touched up? I kept noticing they'd "snap" back into position. It was rather jarring, and noticable amongst the fluidity of normal combat.

I just wish they wouldn't twirl their blades so much unnecessarily. Both Aveline and Hawke do this.
