Because as far as I can tell, to everyone in Thedas that isn't a mage they are viewed as downright terrifying and horrible to the extent that they lock them up and dedicate an entire purpose-trained police force to ensuring they are separated from society at a cost to their personal freedom.  And that's not including elves who were tortured and modified into something alien at the whims of mages.  

Also - this is just a general point - why do people, not MRC as I didn't get quite that impression from her post - want these romances to be easy or painless?  You know its gonna work out anyway since it's a game, why not enjoy the drama the tension of this conflict creates?

My level of interest in pursuing a Fenris romance specifically with a mage character has dramatically increased.

I don't understand it either.

Yeah, that would be hillarious       And then I´d do the second playthrough with a rogue Hawkette, like I have planned, and romance the hell out of poor Fenris

The reason I'm going to play a mage first is because of the potential Fenris-hate.
In my heart rogue is my favourite class, but there is no way I'm going to play a rogue first now. xD
Though I might start my second playthrough a few days after my mage one, so I'm not really missing a lot (I hope).

@Ramante, me too. Just because Fenris hates mages isn't going to stop me. I tried 7 times before figured out how to get Alistair keep me while romancing Zev at the same time. I will just have to do more playthrough in this one as well.

It seems Fenris wishes for all mages to be made tranquil... how do you think that will affect his relationship with femHawke, especially if she is a mage or promage... I'm a little worried he may have to be reserved for my crazed 'death to magic users' playthroughs...

He is all natural          I think it´s sexy  

I don´t wear shoes either in the summertime. Go barefoot everywhere.  It´s freedom for my feet

@bobbyjoe123, no it's not. Consider most indigenous people in the real life never wear shoes. Most elves in Alienage probably can't afford one.

They'll run away screaming long before you ever get to a fight!  The angst will blanket Hawke like a magic sheild, driving mad any who dare come too close!

Your foes (should any survive) will have to go through extensive therapy because they'll be crying their eyes out constantly after such an encounter.

Me, too. The only kind of footwear I love is boots.


And as a NZ Kiwi, it's our country's culture walking on the street bare feet, expecially in the summer.

Such a shame we can't to that at work.

Lots of fickleness in this thread. Those who don't want to romance him anymore... you have to realize, you didn't know anything about him and all you had on the character itself was baseless ideas of how the character could be interpreted.

Hell, half of you made comparisons to Alistair. No surprise that your dreams would be crushed when reality came through the door and said "HONEY, I'M HOME!".
