But oh noes Fenny-chan hates me whatever will I do?!?!?!??!?!?!

EDIT: In retrospect, that sounded less creepy in my head. I only meant that I laughed quite hardily. :)

He kind of reminds me of Zero from vampire knight.

if my dog got thumbs I'd be worried. She can open a door by headbutting it, imagine what she'd do with thumbs!

I wonder whether Fenris preferes dogs or cats?

I wonder, if a rivalry path is the only way to change his mind about mages, what would a mage Hawke do in the friendship path? Would it be about telling him how much he hates himself? Or herself.

You know, I was wondering about that, too. Does a mage!Hawke who's friends with Fenris have serious self-loathing, at least as far as their powers are concerned? Wasn't there a mage in the Circle who was like that-genuinely believed what the Chantry was saying about magical powers being a curse from the Maker? She seemed very sad. It would certainly be an interesting character (and I'm sure that would be more common than we've seen in the game-indoctrination since childhood is a powerful thing), but it's not someone I think I could ever play. I, at the very least, don't bow my neck easily-I'm excited for my mage playthrough. Given Hawke's background (apostate mage in a family of apostates), I'd almost consider it OOC, if there's such a thing in an RPG (there isn't, obviously).

There's an interesting dynamic there-the mage I'm playing is going to be very similar to the choices I'd make in real life, I think (I tend to do that during first playthroughs). A mage who won't bow to the Chantry (which Fenris will hate), but who's very able and willing to help him get revenge-because I see that hotheadedness being very apparent in both choices. Colour me intrigued.

Dogs. His name contains the root elven word for wolf, doesn't it? ;) Plus he'll probably declare he's a dog person just to annoy Anders.

With Fenris, it's the case of proving to him that not all mages are like the magister which is a case with alot of prejudice and do forth. If he fell for Mage Hawke, perhaps that could alter his perception etc. Could be a lot of angst which could be quite interesting.

Lots of fickleness in this thread. Those who don't want to romance him anymore... you have to realize, you didn't know anything about him and all you had on the character itself was baseless ideas of how the character could be interpreted.

Hell, half of you made comparisons to Alistair. No surprise that your dreams would be crushed when reality came through the door and said "HONEY, I'M HOME!".

Fickleness is going to abound when you get fangirls of any kind, unfortunately. And I'm sure for all of the ones upset about it, there's a couple being silently pleased.

I'll be frank: the reason I first wanted to romance the character was because I found him attractive. *shrug* It boggled my mind, given my Fantastic Racism in regards to elves, but it's true. I think it's the tattoos and an unfortunate fetish for white hair from my Devil May Cry days. Damn you, Dante.

As it stands, I'm now even more excited for the character. As a mage, I'll have a genuine foil-something I'm quite pleased about. Not only is the character pretty, but he's bound to get a rise out of me. Lovely all around.

Secretly I'm pleased he's not similar to Alistair-as much as he was awesome, it'd be boring to get repeats.

^This (again)

Also there is nothing wrong with a little angst sometimes (sometimes a lot..yes I'm looking at you Xan ^_^). Fen has good reasons to it... Ah yes, the conflict of fallen in love with someone you're "supposed" to hate.

Very late, but as soon as I saw that particular spoiler, I started clapping like a seal. I was hoping he'd be an ass, too, and this has only firmed up my intentions of first playing as a mage. I'm so glad I'll actually get to interact with a character who makes me feel a bit pissed. It'll be so much more interesting than only sweet characters and the occasional Sith Lord. Of course, I'll still tap that, but finally.

I know right? What a nice change. And even if I play an anti-mage character that agrees with him, I personally will still be clenching my teeth, because a sweeping and damning opinion on a group as a whole is just lasjdfa;lsdfj. But it's actually a resonable position given the setting and his experiences. And yet, so head-wall-banging. Which is awesome. And bonus: you can probably change his mind.

Fenris, say hello to my party of Mage Hawke, Anders, and Merrill.

New information about Fenris's attitude toward mages makes me want to make a mage Hawke with both Anders, Merrill (or Carver) and Fenris in the party.

And rivialmance hateromance him.

Edit: Ahhh ninjia'd, ninjia'd!

I have a feeling that the whole "proving his prejudice is wrong" thing will be as much an act of friendship as anything else-it's a goal I'd have even if I weren't romantically interested in the character. It'll be nice to have a goal with a character that isn't directly romantic or having to do with their quest. At least, in my mind "showing him mages aren't all lightning happy megalomaniacs" is a different goal than "hunting down the Magister" and "making out with his face." I mean, they're all tied together, but the added element gives the relationship some depth, adds a hint of conflict that I find refreshing.

I will probably end up bringing both Anders and Fenris around a lot with my mage Hawkette (Fenris and the awesome that is Varric will be have a semi-permanent spot in my party.)
I need a good healer and the conflict between them.. Just very interesting.

I might swap Anders with Carver and Izzy from time to time .

I still have seen zero sign of crazy fangirl rage over the new information.

We're going to seriously disappoint our critics and lurkers if someone doesn't threaten to self-immolate in their own Fireball soon. Can't someone work up a little hand-wringing? Throw 'em a bone!

I made once again a prompt, cheese. Sorry, it´s unfinished and especially the background is crappy, but I doubt that I will ever finish it, so here it is:

Image IPB

About Fenris hating mages, I really hope that we could sell him for great deal of money to first slaver we meet and that way prove his hatred to be correct. That would be so moronic and by this I don´t mean that now I hate him or something, just that I hope we have various options for different kinds of Hawkes.

I'll take what I can get. Are you perhaps an abomination or have some extremely awful and tragic past you want to tell me about so I can hit on you when you are finished telling me your sad tale?

I wish I had some anger in this   but I don´t .... Was expecting this too be the case for Fenris, and I´m looking forward to this too unfold in-game  But we don´t know this is true 100% just yet.

This is what I'm saying! It's so refreshing to have a character that gets a rise out of you-bigotry is one of those those hot buttons, particularly for me (everyone, I assume, but it tends to make me roll up my sleeves or whatever). But it makes sense for him to think like that! But it's so offensive! But I totally understand why he feels that way. Oh my god, the circles, my mind is reeling, this is awesome. More of this, Bioware! More like this, please.

In any case, I like it because it adds a touch of realism to an otherwise fantastic (in the actually sense of being in a Fantasy) character. I'm so intrigued!
