Well, I think I'm going on blackout before my curiosity gets the better of me. I don't want to go in already knowing everything like I did with Origins. Will be back to talk it up after my first playthrough is complete.

Fenris walked down the trail. He followed the set of footprints that had walked at an even pace through the woods right outside Sundermount. Meditation in a place where the barrior between this world and the Fade is thin, is believed to make a mage seem more open to the spirits of the Fade. However, mages were known to be susceptily weaker right after doing so.
Just as I like them, Fenris thought.
It had taken him many years for this chance. The use of Varric's spy network was pricey (The cheap bas****) but damn was it effective. Denerius would spend time in courts, Circles, and parties, but was only rarely alone and only in rumors was he vulnerable. Which was why Fenris knew he could not miss this chance.
Fenris stopped in his tracks. He had been followed for quite a while now and figured some company would do him some good.
Fenris: Come on out Already! It's been far too long since I've seen you.
Hawke: *stepping into view* If you knew I was here, then why didn't you call me out earlier?
She was as beautiful as the day Fenris had met her. It had only been a month since they returned from Lothering. A trip that had ended up changing everything there was between them.
Fenris: I figured it would be rude to call you out so soon after you started stalking me, my love.
Hawke bristled and looked away crossly. Still not ready yet then, Fenris thought. He knew he had attained her trust and he believed he had her heart, but he couldn't be sure. As she recovered mentally from her ordeal, so did her damned mystique.
Hawke: *ignoring him* I wasn't about to let you face him alone Fenris. No matter how hard you protest.
"Your worrying over nothing, my love." She bristled again. Fenris found he had started to enjoy it when she did that. "He is weak and vulnerable. Not to mention all mine."
Hawke: *Curtly* No, Fenris, you don't understand. He's laying a --
"Trap?" In a blink of an eye Fenris unsheathed his sword and stood in front of Hawke. The word had come from behind him. Right behind him.
Countless archers appeared from the woods around them. All Fenris did was glare at the air in front of him. Slowly, it began to shimmer and colors seemed to shake in front of them. It was from this disturbance, that Denerius walked through. So Denerius had mastered cloaking magic as well... Fenris would have to remember this for later.
Denerius: Fenris, is that you? I hardly recognized you without your "collar." Have you been a good boy?
Fenris: *shaking with rage* I am not your slave any longer, mage. Nor am I your pet. *Hawke placed a reassuring arm on his shoulder*
Denerius: *raising an eyebrow* What's this then? Did my elven dog find himself a Bi*** to match?
Hawke's reassuring hand became an iron grip. Not out of anger over the snide remark, but because she knew that one hatred induced move from Fenris and they'd be burried in arrows. Denerius watched her do this, and laughed a knowing smile.
Denerius: Tell me Fenris, does she know the true purpose of your condition?
Fenris: Another word mage, and I'll make you wish I had only killed you.
Denerius: *smirking* Whatever you say, my little Bree--
Fenris lunged at the Magister, only to be blown back from a mind blast. Twangs surrounded Hawke as the archers unleashed their barrage on the pair of them. Hawke slammed Parlathan onto the ground, casting a small impenetrable barrior around her and Fenris. Fenris could only watch as the color quickly faded from her face.
With what time they had eating away, Fenris considered every tactic he and Hawke had ever used and discounted them all. With two more people they would have had a chance, but as things were, Fenris could only lose hope.
Hawke: *her face strained from the effort* Can you protect me?
Fenris looked into her blue eyes and cursed himself. What kind of fool would lose hope, when he had so much to lose already? He stood up and placed a hand on her cheek, knowing she was a bit preoccupied to shrug off the contact.
Fenris: I swore I would. Forever and always.
Even with most of her willpower sapped and death only inches away, Hawke seemed to bristle. Fenris had to bite down a laugh.
Hawke: I need twenty seconds, lover boy. Can you give me that?
Fenris: Your not about to do something drastic are you?
With that, Hawke smiled a smile Fenris hadn't seen in over a month. A smile that always seemed to baffle him. Something sly, with a hint of lightness in it.
Hawke: In situations like these, what isn't drastic?
Saying that, her face darkened and her blue eyes turned completely red. It took Fenris only a moment to realize her plan.
The barrior broke and another barrage of arrows came at them. Fenris heaved his sword in a whirlwind motion above Hawke's head, redirecting all the arrows shooting towards them with the strength he had put in the swing.
Fenris felt a powerfull thunderbolt rack his body in pain. He ignored the continuing blows Denerius sent his way while deflecting arrows from Hawke, when a sudden stillness filled the air. The archers stopped firing, and even Denerius seemed surprised.
Hawke had spent her time feeling for rips in the Fade and using her blood magic to rip them even wider. The Fade soon teetered on the edge of swallowing the land hole. Thankfully, Hawke didn't become the Champion by milking moments for all their worth. With one final push, magical aura ripped through the land around them. The power of the Fade pushed everyone in the forest away from each other and into darkness.

Fenris awoke to energy crackeling in front of him and his sense of danger never more alive. Rolling quickly away, he heard the land burst in the exact spot he had been laying on only moments before. Jumping up, he glared at The Magister standing before him. They were in the Fade, but that didn't matter to Fenris. Fenris and The Magister were all alone, but Fenris didn't care. Both of their weapons had disappered, but Fenris hardly even noticed.
All Fenris wanted, was to kill the man standing in front of him. That was the only thing that mattered in his world and the only thing that gave his life meaning.
With a roar Fenris charged Denerius, for he would kill the mage or die trying.

Hawke guided her family forth until they bumped into Aveline and Wesly. Now she knew who people were before she met them... nothing was making sense.
Hawke: I'm watching you, Templar.
The words came from her with no effort to think of them, but try as she might, Hawke couldn't dwell on it. The group marched on, but Hawke started breathing heavy and her body started to shake. All she could do was stare at Bethany and march on.
Why was it that with every step her sister seemed to make, Hawke's heart seemed to break?

Fenris glared at The Magister as that familiar sneer rose on the mage's face.

Fenris ran at the mage, dodging an arcane blast, and went for a jab only to hit rock as The Magister casted rock armour. With a laugh, Denerius struck Fenris twice in the face and blasted him back with stonefist.
Denerius: What do you think you are Fenris? A hero? A Paragon? Or do you believe yourself a knight?
Fenris rose at that word and coughed up blood. He could see a face, but could not name it. Who was this woman in his memories?
Denerius: *sneering wider and casting off the armour* Good, you've begun to remember her. I've been wanting you too. I want to see the pain you feel for her, Fenris. Right now she is witnessing the grandest nightmare the Fade could muster. Her own memories.
Fenris froze. He remembered moments with her, hugging her on a slope, drinking with her in a tavern while she glared at him, caring for her wounds as she lay bedridden. But there was only one thing Fenris found that seemed to steady him. An oath he had made her.
Denerius: Yes, your desires have enveloped you. Let them be your undoing.
Fenris ran for the Magister. No longer motivated from bloodlust, but out of something that gave him true strength. His vow.
The Magister casted the largest searing fireball he had ever seen in his direction and Fenris let it hit him square in his chest. He felt his flesh boil and his nerves scream in agony, but found that he did not care.
His right hand shimmered into a blue claw and with it he grabbed Denerius by the throat. With effort, Fenris lifted the man off the ground.
"Demon!" Fenris screamed at The Magister. Blood sported from the punctures Fenris's spirit hand had put in the man's throat. Slowly, The "magister's" body shifted and morphed into that of a demon of desire. The demon squirmed and whailed as best she could. All the while, Fenris never dropped his death grip.
"Where. Is. Hawke!?"
@Thread. So concludes the third part of my four part story. Inspiration came from Kwintessa's short story whitch had a mage fighting in it. I know it's more combat based than my other one's, but I felt it was very imperative for the overall story I wanted to tell. I'll fix grammar mistakes as I find them. Please let me know what you thought of it.

I really like the idea of the Seb romance - seems like it would be really sweet, he is saved for my second playthrough though as Fenris is number 1!
And damn it I just did something that I vowed never to do and ordered the guide - just because romances and relationships look so complicated I feel I may need romace help!

He's like a rose in a glass box; you can look, but you can never touch it. It's a nice change. Not to mention how forbidden he is.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR NEW PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T LURKED AT THE STRATEGY GUIDE!
I'm wondering if my Hawkette will be on the friendship or the rival path. I don't want to end up neutral but my first Hawke will want freedom for the mages and won't deal with demons and blood magic.
I think it fits that Fen won't appreciate the whole commitment and love confessions early on in the relationship.

Anyway, I've got a question: I heard somewhere (don't remember where) that Fenris thinks all mages should be made Tranquil. Is that true? If it, is will Mage Hawkes be unable to romance him? Sorry, but this thread moves so fast that I don't really want to go digging through pages of text.

Not exactly a long term story as compared to "The Twin Wardens"
@MRC I was planning to put it all in the last part, but I realized that their was so much that a cliffhanger would work best.
Not that I don't appreciate the effect it has on you.

...*reads* It sounds like the only way you can romance Fenris as a mage is through rivalry.
It also sounds as though he's the 'Zevran' of DA2 (casual flirting, etc.) That caught me off guard.
Not as much as Merril apparently being bi, tho.
