Seems simple enough but when you're doing quests it's not that easy. You can't bi kinda neutral in this game. I either support mages or I dont.
I have no idea what it should be since clearly that influences romance. Ugh~ I need a LI guide.

LOL. Also, I'll have to rivalmance him because I'm on the mages' side (will probably side with the Templars once in a later playthrough) but OMG Fenris is so awesome. His VA is perfect.

Why does he just get to move in to an abandoned mansion? Kirkwall has some mighty progressive squatters' rights, I guess.

Should I go against my beliefs and be pro-templar for a friendship romance? Or just be myself and rivalmance him? How is that even possible?

I'm going around in circles with Fenris. No sooner do I get friendship points than I lose them to rival points. Ugh, I'm wondering how this is going to work out. Oh and I pissed off Anders good. He's really touchy now...
It's so hard to get both of them on the same path. I managed to get both Anders and Fenris on the full friendship path each by not ever bringing both of them to the same quests (when they involved mages) and lots of reloading! >_>

I'm getting absolutely nowhere with the Fen dude. I make him happy by killing slavers, and then turn around and cancel it out by helping mages, which to me is a perfectly consistent thing to do. So he's been at dead center on the scale the whole game. Seems it's going to be tough to play my usual character, which is somewhere between chaotic good and chaotic neutral- valuing freedom etc.
Ah well, onward. Nobody's talking to me at the moment, not just Fenris.

And yes Fenris is beautiful. I had a cutscene on the friendship side with the wine bottle and I was just like I just want to stare at you.....and his voice~!!!!!

Then I started being nicer to mages again, which fixed Anders. Varric seems to like me no matter what. Unfortunately,I loved the boys so much, I neglected the girls, so I'm not sure how to fix that since I'm towards the end.

Yeah it's really hard to keep them on one side or the other. Every little thing keeps putting them on neutral. This is waaay harder than in DA:O.

I love how Varric taunts him about being broody to snag women. lol

Anders and my blood mage are getting along great. I don't mind taking the rivalry path with Fenris, but I can't keep hm there. No way I'm going to be nice to slavers just to ****** him off. My PC will just remain her celibate snarky self, and maybe eventually I'll save enough mages to move him somewhere.yoshibb wrote...
If you can stomach being mean to some mages then if you just do a couple of those quests he'll get pretty far over on the friend side. Then you flirt with him a little, do his companion quests and I think I was at 100% friend by the end of the first act or beginning of the second. And once you're there, I'm pretty sure it won't go down.

I'd almost certainly be annoyed if it actually did, but it's pretty dumb that being a mage doesn't really affect your relationship with him or his disposition toward you at all. I mean, there's some extra dialogue every once in a while, but not much.

I'd say it affects him pretty heavily. The first thing he says after meeting him is basically, "You're a mage, and I don't trust you." Not to mention the constant mention of how magic ruins everything for him but then he remembers Hawke. There's one line in particular at the end of the second companion quest that was really powerful if you are a mage, the scene after that made so much more sense. I don't want to spoil it though.

I play a Female mage Hawke, he does response well to flirt and if you treat him nicely you gain a lot of friendship points, but any action that supports mages will result in rivalry.

I've actually found my own way to gain friend points with Fenris... while a mage.
1) IF I take him to a mage quest, I do agree with him. But, I namely avoid taking him on mage quests, especially if Merrill or Anders are in the party.
2) He seems to respond well if you side with Templars in certain Templar quests.
3. He also reponds well to a... 'Good/Diplomatic' and Charming Hawke.
*spoiler* Playing as a mage, this may be a lil inconsistant since I'm bouncing around with Anders, Merrill, and Fenris. I just avoid mixing them in a party unless it's for minor side quests. Having the guide is a bit helpful for planning ahead when taking note of party chemistry. I've encountered a recent conversation when I took Fenris to the gallows for the first time and he tells Hawke a bit about how Tevinter works and tells more about his views on mages. I came into the game with 'Mages should be free' mentality for my mage Hawke, but after that conversation, I see where he is coming from. I actually agreed with him, not just to earn friend points, but because his reasons convinced me to agree. His prejudice and concern over complete mage freedom are completely reasonable, considering he's seen a world where mage power reign supreme... and suffered greatly from it. I think my mage!Hawke is a adapting a 'Wynne' like mentality when it concerns the circle of magi because of him. *shrugs*
*sigh* I'm really enjoying his character so far.

A little disappointed in the romance though. I still liked the storyline and Fenris, but there could've been more. I'll try not to spoil it any further.

Fen: I thought all dwarves had beards. Where's yours?
Varric: I missplaced it, along with my sense of Dwarven pride and my gold-plated noble caste pin.
Fen: I thought maybe it fell onto you chest.

I'm afraid if Varric were an option, he'd have competition. I love that little man. Why are Mary Kirby men so heartbreakingly unobtainable!

I am on rivalery hatemance path with Fenris since I won't treat mages like crap just to make him happy, lol. I have him full rivalery, we've been intimate but at the end of that scene, it sounded like he broke up with me and I got no idea if we are still together or not... Stupid new system is bad, if I could just walk over to him be like "what's up?" like u could in DAO, this would be so much easier, lol.
Is this normal though? Is that how his romance goes? He runs off like a scared bunny after sexy sexy time but then will come back for more later?
Oh, and is it possible to have him move in? I just had Merrill move in, lol, Imma reload though, I don't want to risk messing up my Fenris hatemance if it's still on, hehe.

You can't flirt with him or anything outside of scheduled cutscenes though, which is annoying. I also miss talking to people in camp.
Not sure about the moving in, how does that work?

Yes! That happened to me too! But you are still in a romance with him (I picked the "so you're leaving?" option when he ... left), and it picks up again in the next act. And also sometimes people will comment on it.

Phew, I was worried!
I'm not 100% on how the move in works but with Merrill, I went home because it looked like I had a quest there and Merril was waiting for me and bumming about what went down in her personal quest and she akwardly kinda comes on to Hawke. If you flirt the whole way through that convo, it leads to the intimate scene and afterwards there was an option to ask her to move in, which she gleefully accepted. It was sweet but I like my broody badass Fenris. I. Needs. FENRIS. lol
