Just finished my first playthrough. Image IPB Fenris romance, of course.
So did our boy live up to everyones expectations? Image IPB
Also, is there supposed to be a last conversation(s) after the scene at the hanged man? That whole issue happens, he's not pissed at me for whatever I said to him, but then there's nothing after that. I kept expecting him to want to talk about what happened, but there's just... nothing. ._. Is that supposed to happen?
...and I could've sworn the game was upposed to span ten years. At the end of the game, it only said "year 7". Image IPB

Okay so I've been reading this thread for awhile and I just have a question...
I think I messed up. lol This is my second playthrough, and I'm playing a male mage Hawke. I've managed to get to full friendship level, and I've done his personal quest. I flirted with him and he talked to me about his past....then when I asked him to stay (when he comes to my estate to apologize) he said, "I think it's best for both of us that I don't."

After that, nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. I've been desperately showing up at my estate now (at night) after, like, EVERY side quest like some romance-crazed beast, but no...he doesn't show.

What did I do wrong??

I had this same problem in my first playthrough...I think it has to do with if you have a romance with anyone else? I had slept with Isabela once and that prevented me from romancing him...On my second playthrough, I did't flirt with anyone but him and it worked fine.

That's odd - he wouldn't show up at my mansion before but when I finally did the personal quest he showed up - what does he do exactly when he comes to your estate to apologize? Did he kiss you?

In Act 2? When you ask him not to go, he glows and pushes you up against a wall and kisses you...and then you switch and it goes from there...haha it was hot. But then he basically broke up with me for a while....

This shows up on Fenris after the romance is started. Any idea what it is?

It's a sign of your romance working correctly :D in Act 3 he gets Hawke's symbol on his belt too <3

Yes, but what is it? That red band is holding something on there....her hair (creepy!)? Her underwear? Image IPB

I assumed it was just fabric from Hawke's house

I like to pretend it's one of her underwear ribbons  ^.-  LOL  Maybe it's something else entirely.  Sort of like when a lady gives a 'favor' to a knight.  It could also be a scarf or something more symbolic.  Maybe we should ask Gaider and find out what it is  XD

My Hawke is male, so I can't imagine it being his underwear XD

I was asking in relation to Purposeof-Flight's concern. He said that he came to his estate just to apologize and that was it.

If that was the case (what you just posted), I don't think he ever comes back. That was your midnight mansion scene I think.

And don't worry! He apologizes in Act 3 and you just kinda get back together :)

In Act 3 -  I don't remember specifically but you'll get a quest in your journal under Companions and you go to his mansion to talk to him.

edit: Might be after the Alone quest?

edit 2: Yes, it is after the Alone quest.

Does Fenris have any dialogue with the dog? I noticed a few of the other companions show up and talk to him. But, no matter how many times I visited my home Fenris never showed up to banter with the dog.

That was the only part of the romance that bothered me, the poor pacing of them not talking about what happened that night for THREE years. I can understand it taking time, but jesus, that awkward tension for so long?

There really needed to be some kind of intermediate conversation.  Something to imply  that he still had feelings for you and the romance would eventually continue.  If it wasn't for companion banter and him showing up after what happened to Hawke's mom I would have thought I did something wrong.

i think that was the point. he was trying to make hawke hate him by ignoring the night ever happened.  not that hes very good at making hawke hate him when he wears the crest of the family and tries to comfort hawke when her/his mother dies.  in fact he's TERRIBLE at the whole "make hawke hate (him)" thing.  which means it was just 3 years of awkward conversation.

know what i'd like to know?  did hawke teach fenris to read in those 3 years? you do have the option to offer it in Act 2.

Hawke does. If you inspect the bookcase at the estate at some point, Hawke says that there's a specific book he/she should try and teach Fenris with(or something) next.

i cant imagine how awkward those sessions must have been though.

Probably very awkward, if a person happens to be playing a mischievous Hawke. Image IPB
Not even necessarily throwing something "mature" at poor Fenris, but could also be like... a friend of my moms kidded once that we should teach my little brother all of his colors wrong before he starts school. Image IPB poor Fenris would be so confused...

in act 2 you find a book in the alienage. when you give it to him he tells you he can't read. they dont teach slaves to read.  you can then offer to teach him.

Ooh. Yeah, that's a gift I missed to find. I really need Act 2 now.

Teaching him to read... haha, that must be so much fun. And akward.

there's another Fen reference if you look at the statue in the library room <3 Hawke says Fenris hates the statue XD

There's also something on the desk in that room from Fen's Mansion

This have probably been discussed already but is there a difference from the glowy-wall scene when you play rival-mance compared to friendship-mance? :)

I'm still waiting excited to friend-mance Fen. I've haven't been able to play the game more than 9 hours (on a borrowed computer) since my PC took forever getting updated to Windows 7 and now I have to start all over again (not that I complain that much, I've gotten some spoilers so I know how to deal with certain scenarious in the game)..

Wouldn't know. I friend romanced him and he pushed Hawke to the wall, glowy, before she pushed him to it.

I'm personally not even sure there is a difference or if the difference comes from how you talk to him or if you did his personal quest before it. Seem to be reading different answers everywhere. (yes I had done his personal quest before)

Edit: There seems to be a lot of these "examine" things going on. I thought I had found most of them in the estate but then I found some in the uncle's house on the second playthrough... and now they might be where companions live? Hah.

Isn't it something along the lines of Fenris mentioning that it came from Denarius?
