Okay - so concerning the Varric and Aveline show up :

I just reloaded a file I had before going to talk to Fenris at his mansion. Varric and Aveline show up and he asks me what he should do - I say stay with me. He eventually apologizes for what happened 3 years ago and we kiss.

I never had it as a separate event?

Don`t get me wrong, I got this forgiveness scene with kiss and all. But I never got the Varrik+Aveline scene after forgiveness one in the mansion that should led to "move together" according to wiki. 

The Varric and Aveline scene led straight into the forgiveness and get back together/kiss scene, but I never got any 'move in' option. Though it seemed that is what that scene would be leading up to, since it is about how his home is a dump xD

Yeah - the closest I got to the move-in option was stay with me. Going to reload and try different responses.

edit: Reloaded and tried different stuff - nothing closer to moving in.

I would love this!!! I’m going to be starting a new M!Hawke Mage to Rivalmance Fenris on Monday so some insight would be great. My first play through I buckled under and agreed with as many of the companion’s viewpoints as possible even though I didn’t personally agree with their extremes. This time through I’m not helping Anders attack the Chantry even if I dislike the Chantry, Merrill will not get my support for her loose perspectives of blood magic, and I will fight tooth and nail with Fenris on his generalization of Mages.
 
Spiel aside, I’d like to know what Companions are best to bring along when romancing Fenris? Shale was amazing when romancing Zevran, the banter was amusing. I’ve witnessed Varric and Merrill making comments about the relationship.

So my "forgiveness scene" happened right after the Alone quest when my Hawke come to Fenris mansion where said elf were alone and they speak about events of the day and what he should do and than he asked for forgiveness. So there were no Aveline or Varrik. But he were 100% rival in act 2 already so perhaps scene is different if not on 100%.

Ohhh...I suddenly understudy, I got a rivalry scene! As there were no Varric&Aveline but Fenris were pacing around like caged animal and shout at my Hawke that "he will be the death of him".

Yep, you are right it look loke a rival scene. As my  Hawke got  cursed on Tevinter=).

I didn't rivalmance him, but yeah, on the rivalry path you get the pacing whereas friendship Varric and Aveline show up.

 So based on what that wiki said.. is it possible that Fenris should be in our house and so they could like, patch that up later? @_@

I couldn't get the Varric and Aveline scene to trigger, either, hrm. Maybe it's because I still had Isabela in my party in Act 3? In my scene, Hawke comes in on Isabela trying to cheer him up and make him feel good about being a free man, and Fenris emos out on her until she rolls her eyes and leaves. And then the forgiveness/get back together scene.

Maybe it's possible that if you don't have Isabela, you get Aveline and Varric, instead? I would have loved to have seen both.

HELP!!!!

I'm in Act.3, After finishing "Alone" quest. He didn't leave the party after , there just a loading screen and everyone was outside the hangedman......then nothing, no dioluge, no quest. He didn't show up ask for my Hawke's forgiveness or any other thing the guide book mention.


Is this a bug? Or beacuse I didn't reach full rival status with him?(I'm at about 80% rival)?

Please help! This is super depressing....

I got a less positive comment.  I didn't realise there were any variations.  Straight after the split-up conversation I clicked on Hawke's mother and she said something like this in a dismayed tone of voice.

"An elven slave?  I hope you know what you're doing." 

I 'm friendmancing Fenris and by then it was at the 100% stage.  I guess this happened because I'd already had the conversation where Leandra  talks about the possibility of finding someone new, and my Hawke chose the discouraging/disapproving option where she doesn't want anyone to replace her father.

I have a question, which might or might not have been asked here before, but there's over a thousand pages to go through, so forgive me being slightly lazy.

If Fenris were to break up, wouldn't I know? And wouldn't he not wear the red handband and the badge at his belt?
I overheard a party banter between him and Anders, where Fenris said that ''Leaving her was the hardest thing I've ever done'', or close to that. I wasn't aware that he had left me, so is this a bug or what just happend?

Do you have Orana in your house? I'm fairly sure that is who she is referring to. I romanced Anders and got Mama Hawke saying the same thing. I got the convo about Hawke and his elf too, though. Elven slave comment only after Orana, both times.

People say he "moves in" but not in the way like the others does? What does say, Anders do if he moves in? Can you talk to him more often?

Because I got tired of heading to Fenris's mansion in the end because he never said anything new. Sometimes I can't help but wonder if he simply has fewer lines than the rest... Until he's actually romanced he seems to be stuck on saying "We should move on". Agh. Every other sentence comes as a shock these days.

haha. well, he doesnt literally say "we're through". he just leaves and refuses to talk about what happened.  he'll also say things are going too fast for him and he can't handle the stress of his memories coming back only to lose them again.

but, he doesnt do a very good job of covering up the fact he's still head over heels for Hawke. so its just a REALLY awkward relationship.

but yes. as of him running away after sex, you're broken up.

The wall-kiss scene happened straight after 'A Bitter Pill' as soon as Hawke returned to the house and I had chosen the option to give Orana a job during the quest.  I thought she meant Fenris but I guess not if it happened to you when romancing Anders.   I've probably missed the opportunity to have her mention Fenris.

You mean act 2?  If so, yeah I think you missed it.  The questgiver is whoever you were working for in year one, either the smuggler or the mercenary.  You get a letter at home pointing you towards a dwarf in Lowtown named Anso who needs to hire you.  That's Fenris' recruitment mission.

Like any other PC.  He's opinionated about mages, but you can limit the rivalry points if you're careful not to bring him along on mage-saving or working-with-demons missions.   I haven't found a way not to get rivalry points on his recruitment mission, but if you say you're out for survival, it's only a +5.  Or, you could rivalmance him, in which case you'll want to do the opposite, and try to make nice with slavers.

Well... I haven't played a friendship path, but as a snarky mage who dragged the poor elf with her everywhere his rivalry meter was full very, very fast, despite the first  friendship points during the first conversation at his house and never once having to be nice to slavers.

Just saying. There are plenty rivalry points to cancel an occasional friendship move.

I got a bunch of rivalry points in the Fade when speaking with the demon. Fully intended to trick the thing, but Fenris still went +10 or 15 rivalry. And his "apology'' conversation post the Fade on rivalry path (don't know if it's different for friendship) yelded me rivalry points too.

Edit: And yes, while he clearly voices that he thinks your character is making a mistake he can stick by you. In my playthrough he did I guess his 'nothing is worse than living without you' confession was quite literal
