Okay, incredibly frustrated here. I used all the romance options, gave him the gift, 100% friendship but during the conversation in Bitter Pill, he still leavesAnyone have any tips on what I'm doing wrong?
He leaves no matter what in the Bitter Pill.
Before doing the dirty?
Well he leaves after the Bitter Pill completion, then you meet him at your house and he leaves after the dirty.
For me the dirty never happens. As in, he comes to my house, we talk and then NOTHING. And then he leaves. And I still have all my romancing options so it's not like I'm locked out from romancing him because I've flirted with some other chars. Ug.
So does he apologizes and leaves? Did you try coming back to the house again?
Aaaaand don't I feel like an idiot. WOOHOO! Finally LOL Thank you so much

Sometimes Fenris' idle animations make for interesting scenes when you pause, though...

Some of the expressions in BioWare games can be kind of iffy. Sometimes when someone was angry their eyebrows seemed to float off of her skin. Sebastian for all his handsomeness when having a neutral expression had the derpiest 'surprised' face ever. And I wanted to love the 'up against the wall' scene of the romance but I physically cringed at the derpy look on Hawke's face, it almost ruined it for me.
But Fenris' expressions were consistently some of the best in the game. That one look, the look when he tells you how he feels in Act III and when he tilts his head down, smirks just slightly and says, "I didn't think I needed anyone. Or wanted anyone. Until now."
I don't think any screenshot does justice to Fenris in action. He smolders.
@Tealsie: I haven't played all of Anders' yet, but I got to Act II of it and I have to agree. Merrill's was kind of adorable, but Fenris' just blows away the competition.

Is it just me, or does Fenris seriously seem to have the best romance in the game? Only starting the others now, but from what I've seen/heard... they just don't seem to have as much impact. Or just... as much.
It's not just you

Merril: Did you step on something sharp, Fenris?
Fenris: No.
Merril: Slam your fingers into something?
Fenris: No...
Merril: Hit your head in a low beam?
Fenris: Is there a point to these questions?
Merril: Just wondering why you look so cross all the time.
Fenris: Perhaps it's the inane prodding.

I've only done rivalry, but I watched the videos of the friendship one and personally I love the rivalry one more.Golden Saint9872 wrote...
Can I have someone's opinion on whether to do friendship or rivalry romance? I will eventually do both but I was wondering what to start with. (Total fail the first romance)

I think the overall appeal of the romance with Fenris was that the entire relationship between him and Hawke didn't feel rushed at all. Fenris is able to drag the whole thing out for six years. It leaves the player interested and a satisfying conclusion is reached and feels well-earned. Along with that, he had a great VA.
Compared to the other three, I'd think Isabela's romance comes into a very close second place.

Where is this from again? I know for sure that I experienced it in my playthrough but I can't quite place when this happens.

I had Varric in my group during that, and he adds on to the end, saying something about how he bets Fenris poked himself with those spikes on his armor.

Along that quest, did someone get Fenris's very angry response to Merril's idea of "bloodmagic making the mirror pure" or something. Quite hilarious. Hell, keeping Fenris, Anders and Merril in the same group is fun. Everyone hates each other.

That's from the Act I scene where he says the line, "I didn't think I needed anyone. Or wanted anyone. Until now."Auresta wrote...

When I started playing I didn't know who to romance so I was just picking every available flirt option. That look was the moment I hopped on the Fenris bus.

Yes, yes, yes! I am consistantly AMAZED at Fenris's facial expressions. There are a few looks he gives that are SO incredibly meaningful. I love his expressions in his forgiveness conversation after Alone on the friendship path. When he tries to explain to you why he left, and he NEVER makes eye contact. He tries, and then looks somewhere else, and tries again, and looks somewhere else. It's amazingly well done.

Isabella: (something) two sailors were arguing over something... I think it was toast. Sailors and their toast. They just love toast.
Fenris: Is there a point to this story?
Isabella: Hold on I'm getting to it.
