It's no surprise that he would sleep with Isa. I didn't mind Fenris as a comrade, I could even put up with his incessant brooding, but the first time I met him in the mansion alone he was too quick to want to get into my pants. He tried really hard, giving me at least three times the ability to render a heart response. Just thought it was curious.

You get heart options with everyone- including people you can't romance.  That's not the LI coming on to you, it's the game giving you an option to come on to them.  Fenris never flirts at all that I can tell.  He only responds when flirted with, as opposed to Isabela.  I heard that Anders will flirt, too, though I seem never to get that for some reason.

I know this may seem bad, but I would be more willing to romance Varric, which it doesn't seem we can, but at least he is intelligent, level-headed, knows where he is going in life, can handle himself in a confrontation both physically and mentally, and he is darn well charming as well. He is definitely a keeper and squee worthy!

He is!!!  I would so do the dwarf if it were a possibility.  I love it that he is quietly trying to protect all your friends and looking out for Hawke from moment one.  He also gets such great lines.

The Mary Kirby men, they are so delicious and so heartbreakingly unattainable.

Ah, perfect timing, I was wondering about this same thing.  He ran off after his nighttime visit to the house then just told Anders it was over..what?  Kind of freaked me out.

I don't know!  Talk to Fenris in his house.  See if you can get him to talk about what happened.  When I didn't romance anyone after him, I could.  When I romanced Anders afterwards (though he moved in), I couldn't.

Just as a point of random curiousity... If the ending, where Varric says who stayed with Hawke, depends on who you first flirted with... what happens if you only ever firt with Varric?

And has anyone tried, yet, choosing the 'broken heart' response after you sleep with Fenris? The one where you can say that you didn't want any more than that(or whatever it was exactly). Apparently Anders' response is heartbreaking(no pun intended)... what does Fenris do?

You do need to talk to him in Act 3, not act 2.  It's done for act 2 -- he needs time, and apparently, since there's a time skip, it takes him 3 years!  I have some issue with the realism of that, but no one asked me

My only serious complaint of the game. The pacing seems all off.

Edit: Unless their years there are different than ours. One year there could = like... 7 months here(something that always seems to be left out of fantasy things. If you're on a different planet than Earth, wouldn't the year lengths be different? Was fixed somewhat in Mass Effect...)

Anders' actually is worse between act 2 and act 3.  You and he decide to live together in act 2, but you don't give him the key to the place until act 3.  

If it were 3 months, it would work for both of the romances.  But 3 years, it just seems really weird.  It would have been better had those issues been resolved at the end of act 2.  You can always talk about them 3 years later.

So... what did people think of the story of the fog warriors and what he did to them?  It reminded me of Sten.

"Bait and switch", I believe. In the first act, it's in a letter you recieve at your uncles'.

A complete matter of opinion. Some people prefer one way, some the other.
I, personally, prefer friendmance.  just too sweet.

Both positive and rivalry work.  There are some small differences in dialogs, and at least one of the kisses is different (the glowy kiss has different head positioning, the rivalry one has hawke kissing his neck at the end, while the friendship one has them kissing on the mouth).

you can do the recruitment quest as early as you want in act 1.  He was the first one I recruited (aside from Varric and Avaline of course).  I think you just have to go to your house twice to get the quest letter.

Edit: He's angrier, but more passionate, with the rivalry romance, and sweeter with the friendship one, but they're both really well done.  And pretty much the same.

Yeah I eventually sought out minor spoilers because I was having trouble.  You get his recruitment quest pretty early after you move in to uncle's house.  Keep checking your letters at home.  His quest is the one from your former indenture employer, pointing you towards a dwarf named Anso.

As far as friendship/ rivalry:  He hates demons, blood mages and slavers.  Approves of templar activity, sending mages to the Circle, rejecting demons and of killing slavers.  You get friendship points for being nice to him when he talks about himself, rivalry for challenging him or for putting off his quest in act 2.

I prefer the friendship path. Then again, my Lady Hawke who's for Fenris was a bit of a badass, and she wouldn't go for the whole him pushing her up against the wall thing.

There's a throw-against-the-wall friendship kiss as well, but they're kissing on the mouth instead of Hawke kissing his neck like in the rivalry one. I didn't even know about this kiss until I saw it on the boards! I guess you get it if either you haven't finished Questioning Beliefs before the personal quest, or if he leaves that night without it going further.

I did it just to see. He looks upset, but resigned, and says "Maybe ... that's for the best," since he was going to leave anyway. You can tell he's upset, but also a bit relieved. It's very sad. Poor Fenris. It's actually easier for him when you don't want him, so he doesn't have to deal with what that could mean.

You need to check out mail all throughout act 1! You'll get a letter giving you the quest "Bait and Switch," from the smuggler or mercenary, depending on who you sided with.

As for friendship vs. rivalry, it depends on what you like better. Friendship Fenris, you get to slowly pull him out and have him open up to you and fall in love with you for how you're the only person who ever understood him. Rivalry Fenris, he yells at you a lot and then grabs you and kisses you because you drive him crazy.
