Wait. Wait. Wait. He glows? Which is the one where he glows? I only got the one where Hawke just smacks him against the wall. Did I rivalmance or friendmance him? I don't keep track of the bar, there's just no way to tell. D: I want glowing ("Glistening", in the words of Isabela). And I don't want to go to bloody Anders for it, no matter how good his voice actor is. >|

I haven't been able to get the glowy kiss either.  It is quite upsetting.

I got it.  Hell if I know how I did it though.

... My Hawke has never died, and neither has Fenris. I always play on casual because I really am just very bad at gaming. I'm think I'm going to have to turn off battle sounds and music and then get Hawke killed a few times just to hear what Fenris has to say about it now.

I love that it's not just Rivalry/Romance that changes how the interactions go, but also how you've established your Hawke's personality through responses. I enjoyed the dynamic of my good-natured, always diplomatic mage being the calm voice of reason while the angry warrior elf goes off on her. He loses his temper a lot and she never loses hers, so she always managed to make him feel like crap for the things he said, which probably made him all the more frustrated with her. :P

Is it just me or after a few responses does the  game decide how to respond when you choose the "investigate options or whatever.,

I loved this too.  There was a line in one of the convos (forget which one), where Fenris says something like "Yes, it's always jokes with you, isn't it?"

The game definitely chooses some responses based on how you respond to other things. For example, Fenris saying the line about how he'll go if Hawke tells him to, and a diplomatic or sarcastic Hawke responds with, "No need." Whereas an aggressive Hawke says, "Shut up."

You can see this early on in the fleeing from Lothering bit, when your earliest responses will decide how Hawke responds on his/her own to the idea of going South.

Weird, my sarcastic/jokey Hawke said "Did I say anything?" in response to that. Are there variations when taking into account secondary personality too or something?

I loved this. Even when I let my Hawke show her soft side for once, she still had a hard tone when asking questions and initializing/ending conversations.

And it is great how different the companions treat you depending on your personality. For example, I got the angry romance scene where Fenris pushes Hawke against the wall, but apparentely there are variations of that scene involving less anger.

Rawr! I need to start another playthrough. There are so many things tI can do differentely I am never going to get them done!:D

Hmm, I might have just gotten it wrong there. I wasn't sure about the sarcastic version, I thought I'd tried speaking sarcastically to him earlier in the conversation and still got that response, but I might have not.

Hey, does anyone have a good place to find Fenris screencaps? Incl. a full-body or a good one of his feet, especially.

'Cause I need some. For reference. >___>

Thanks!

A few pages ago in this thread, there were a few. Showing how awkward or interesting Fenris' idle animations can make things. Image IPB

I definitely took some, for the same reason...drawing reference.  I haven't uploaded them yet though.  If you don't get any by tomorrow, send me a PM to remind me, and I'll upload some for you!

Awesome, thanks! You're fantastic. =>

Yeah, I primarily got the PC version of Mass Effect 2 for the same reason. A pity my poor laptop already hates me for running ME2 and Back to the Future on it all the time, hehe.

And yeah, I agree about Anders. I stopped wanting to romance him when he used Aveline's dead husband to prove some argument about mages. He just goes out of his way to be insulting to people.

Wait...what?!  What does he say about Wesley?  I must know!

Edit: found another version that shows more reactions from party members and he also doesn't say the "I know we're not friends" strange...

Oh I heard that banter. I wanted to smack him when he went on about her husband. It goes something like he want's to know if all Templar's are so dirty. And Aveline is like wtf? And he's all oh you know, did her husband ever want to play dirty games like the Templar and the desire demon, etc. I think they were going for funny, like some of his banters in Awakening but considering this came in act one and Aveline was a widow, I thought it was totally inapproiate.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that was way out of line. I thought Wesley was kind of an ass, but Aveline's never been anything but polite to Anders, and he's being a complete tool. That's actually what put me off him for the romance option.

You know I realized that when I screwed up my chance with Fenris (I restarted from my last save in act 2) I was in a terrible mood that he left, and that because Hawke slept with Merrill her chances of romancing Fenris again in act 3 were gone. I was quite upset....man if I was Hawke i'd be a horrible champion lol!

But yeah I'm happier now that I know in act 3 Fenris will tell my Hawke how he feels! :D

Btw, you just caused David Coverdale to start singing in my head.  This is very counter to writing fic, my dear.

The thing that makes me think that Fenris wasn't, erm, used by Danarius is such a way is how he reacts to Isabela's teasing about it with utter bemusement. I think he would have gotten defensive if there was actually a sexual servitude aspect of his duties to Danarius, instead of just his usual "sigh, Isabela."

But despite my logic saying "probably was just a bodyguard," everything else says "yeah, he was so abused in that way."

Because I'm a terrible person.

Well, it IS Dragon Age, so maybe they figured you'd just assume that's what happened.

Like the confrontation with Anders about your relationship with Fenris, with both of them in the party at the time.

Anders: I know it isn't my place to criticize, but, are you sure about Fenris? he seems less a man to me than a wild dog.
Hawke: ('Don't call him that' dialogue choice) You just don't know him.
Anders: I know as much as I'm ever likely to.
Fenris: That's right, Mage.
Anders: He has let one bad experience color his whole world. Surely you want someone more open-minded.
Fenris: *looks at Hawke* A Mage and a hypocrite. What company you keep.

Oh gawwddd... I just heard him say, "I'm yours." in DAT VOICE! I turned to a puddle of goo. Then I spent the next five minutes idly pressing him to hear him say it over and over.

Were you also supposed to assume that the banter where Isabela starts by saying to Fenris "you know that thing where you stick your hand in people?" was going in a very different direction... before it ended? Image IPB

Thanks for the replies!  Glad to hear I can recruit him very early - can't believe I missed this in the first playthrough.  I think I'll go for the friendly romance option as I think it'll let me learn more about Fenris and his background.  Although the rivalry option does sound raunchy

If it makes you feel any better, the only reason I didn't miss him was because I asked here. I hadn't done "Bait and Switch"; I had the 50 gold and I was really sick of running all around town for people too lazy to get off their own butts. Since it was listed as a secondary quest, I figured it was skippable. So glad I didn't!

PS: So glad Fenris didn't moan during the kisses, that was uncomfortable to listen to with Anders. Maybe if they were both moaning it wouldn't be so weird, or if there were any other sounds at all. Rustling clothes, heavy breathing, something. It was just way unnatural the way they did it.
