I wanted to rip that and the crest right off him. It gave me strong vibes of "you're my new master now." I can see how he'd have a masterless void in him, since that's the only lifestyle he's known, and I suppose it's better me than someone else, but damned if I didn't double take when I saw that he tagged himself with my mark. But, overall, if my interpretation holds any truth, it shows how very vulnerable he is when it comes to attaching himself to people. And that's pretty good character development in something as subtle as a character model detail.David Gaider wrote...

Ahh, that explains why I don't remember it, it's a friendship line and I rivaled him. I do love the look he gives at that same point in the rivalmance though. Hawke says, "You don't have to do this alone", and he responds, "Don't I?" And gives a similar look, but it seems a bit sadder. Definitely an 'aww' moment.DemonSaya wrote...

I'm trying not to act like a rabid fangirl right now. It would cause the males in my household to look at me like I'm insane. *sigh*
I think he has more 'awww' moments than nearly anyone else. His sad-puppy expression...his angry expression...
****. I'm going fangirl again.

I thought it had more to do with memory than feeling masterless. Losing his memories of his entire life obviously has an effect on him. I took it more to mean that he doesn't want to forget anything else important to him, so he'll cling to those mementos to ensure he never does.

I didn't get that at all. If he wants to wear it then it's more like a promise ring, a show of commitment, not ownership. I think it's sweet.maselphie wrote...

I hadn't thought of it that way...
Although, if I had my way, he'd be Fenris Hawke, so it'd be his mark too

The first time I saw it, I had NO idea what it was or why it was there. It was kinda 'hey, that wasn't there a minute ago...whatever'. LOL Then I saw Merrill's complete transformation and it clicked.
I can get where you're coming from about the filling a hole thing. Still, knights used to do similar things, wearing favors (I thought that was it, but I had to ask, regardless...) or wearing the crest of the house they're a part of.

Cool to see how we can all get different interpretations of the same thing, since he never outright says anything about it.

Yeah, was I understanding that wrong or before sleeping with Hawke, Fenris was a virgin (whether that means at all ever or just post-branding ritual)?Someone wrote...
@SteamPunks Did you complete the Questioning Beliefs quest where he's been drinking quite a bit and comments on how he's never been with anyone before? The flirty arm grab option won't show up unless you initiate the romance there.

inspiration for Fenris' real name?
I like it?You said a while back that other than Valen, there had been other character influences for Fenris but you didn't want to say because people take that out of context. Now that we've met the man as he is, care to comment on what those other character influences were?
My intention is to avoid talking about where I take my inspiration from, primarily because many people can't tell the difference between inspiration and derivation. That might not be you, but I'm not taking any chances. Sorry!

although, I'm pretty sure that's just in his memories. We don't know if Leto has had relations with anyone before.
Also the discussion earlier that implied if you aren't romancing Fen, he gets somethin-somethin from Isabella

From a gameplay point of view, it's there to let you know that he was supposed to "break up" with you. Let you know that he super likes you, even though it seems like the romance is over.Aris Ravenstar wrote...
I wonder if him wearing the scarf is his way of silently declaring his feelings even when for all intents and purposes they've been over for three years, or if he was simply supposed to change after the reconciliation and there was some sort of bug.

In Fenris forgiveness talk, in the flirt option Hawke says "Whereever it leads, I hope it means we stay together."
Am I the only one who thought it was pretty freaking brave of Hawke to say that? They had been essentially broken up for 3 years and Hawke had no real way of knowing that Fenris still felt that way about her/him like the player controlling Hawke would.
I personally was shocked the first time I heard it and rewatching the scene it still makes me frown at times. Just seems to sound unbelievable to me. I'd be a total mess if we'd been broken up for 3 years.

I didn't think it fit into the context of the situation. It seemed weird to follow that up with Fenris mentioning that you guys haven't talked about what happened 3 years ago.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only way to get that scene is after you complete the sister quest? Since it starts off with him talking about being free.Bluumberry wrote...

In that quest, you have the option to "flirt" for the first time in 3 years, when he says that he's alone, and Hawke reminds him that she's still there. He gives her this really deep look. Does that help with your context dilemma?

It never seemed off in my other playthroughs. Then again, I always did 'All that Remains' after Fenris left my Hawke at the end of 'The Bitter Pill'. He shows up and trys to comfort her, so that kinda said to me that they stepped back onto ground that was comfortable for him. That's how it seemed to me, anyways. Then again, sometimes men wont discuss something bothering them for years, anyways...That would be the voice of experience piping in there...>.>;

LOL. I got a kick out of Fenris shutting Zevran down when he tried to offer a personal reward. I didn't have Isabela in the group so no idea if her dialogue would override anything. Too tedious of a boss fight to rotate though all the companion reactions.
Ooh and if I remember right, someone said if you betray Fenris (<\\3 ;o;) you get a letter from his master about how he's more docile or something? Does anyone have a copy of what it says? :]
