Am I right that the VA for Verena is also Cassandra? I love her voice, and it's driving me crazy that I can't figure out what accent she's using.

Who's Cassandra?...lol Wit who's Verena? have I even played this game?

Cassandra --> Chantry vixen interrogating Varric

Verena (Vorena?  makes me think of Lucius Vorenus from HBO's "Rome" Image IPB) --> Fenris' sister

Argh... I feel terrible for this... but Fenris's sister's name... it's spelt "Varania".

I'm sorry-- I play with subtitles.

LOL. I got a kick out of Fenris shutting Zevran down when he tried to offer a personal reward. I didn't have Isabela in the group so no idea if her dialogue would override anything. Too tedious of a boss fight to rotate though all the companion reactions.

Does anyone have a video of this? :] Btw, can Hawke sleep with Zevran?

Just saw your request -- I uploaded a video for you at:

(Sorry for quality, stuck at medium graphics.)

Sweet! And funny since it's Taliesen's voice apparently!:wizard:

Really?  I'm just going from memory but wouldn't it be the other way around, Varania?

Anyway, point being- VA same as Cassandra?

I have to harp on an earlier topic, because I agreed -- I reloaded the Danrius fight a couple times to try different branches. Being friends with him, and then handing him over was truly a sad thing to watch. No puppy eyes or pleading, he just goes with him. And he can't even bring himself to look at you again as he walks out. I was expecting anger or him attacking me or something. Maybe a glare and a "I'll find you" look. Instead, he's so completely heartbroken and betrayed, he basically chooses to end his life right then and there.

Daaaaaymn, Bioware.

I'm 99% sure that Varania's VA is Cassandra's with a different accent, yes.

Hello all ^^ I can't find answer anywhere. Something messed up my romance with Fenris in act 2 or 3 D: Everything was fine, he was a rival but there was flirting and 'breaking up' in act two (Aveline comment on relationship during her personal quest still happened), but suddenly in act 3 he refused to accept the sword and there is no more flirting or moving in after Alone quest. Is fling with Isabella a 'killer' for the romance, because it seems that it may be it..?Or maybe romancing Anders? However, when he came to sort of seal the deal in act 2, my Hawk responded she loved Fenris.

I found contradictory info on whether you can flirt with others or not and since I like Fenris the most I would prefer him to stick around.

Sorry for any mistakes, I am not native speaker ^.^;

It sounded like a similar accent to me.  I just can't figure out what it is!

She has a beautiful voice.

I want to try a rival romance with Fenris just to see what's different. But... agh, I can't see how it could be anything more than a fling if they dont even like each other. Or maybe I am misunderstanding the rival thing in the game. I still see it as that you hate each others guts if you're rivals. Got a hard time letting go of that.

Fenris is actually adorable on rival roamnce. My best friend did it that way. He loves you just as much, you just drive him damn crazy at the same time. Less sweet, more yelling, but a lot more passion, too. It just depends on what you like better, *slap* *slap* *kiss* or *hug* *smile* *kiss*.

It's splendid what sorts of things I miss on my first playthrough... and then find on all of them afterwards(like an encounter between Aveline and Varric where Varric is trying to get her to help him buy/own the Hanged Man). Just had a conversation with Isabela after the "romance scene" with Fenris(which was also different this time around. He kissed her cheek before the wallslam). Went something like:
Isabela: So you and the elf? (somethingsomething) I hear he keeps the shackles from servitude on under his clothes. You know what they say about men like that? Image IPB
Hawke: I'm going to regret asking... Image IPB
Isabela: He couldn't find a saw!. Image IPB

Hawke: *headshake*
Isabela: I got you there. You thought I was going to say something dirty! Image IPB

Oh it's definitely more than a fling.  Its two people who have VERY different viewpoints, but respect the other's.  Fenris is obviously bat-guano crazy in love with Hawke with the rivalmance....it leads to some very passionate scenes.

They do not hate each other, they just don't always agree.

Yeh, you ended the romance when you romanced someone else.  You only get to stay with Fenris if you don't turn to someone else apparently.  Basically, if you can't rekindle the romance after Alone, it's over.

I'm curious if he refuses the sword in a rivalry romance. I know he does in a rivalry not-romance.  I'm almost there!

I'm doing a rival romance with my mage hawke, and it is more than a fling for sure.  As he puts it, they don't always see eye to eye.  So they fight, and there's more yelling than in a friendship romance, but it's still wonderful.

But they certainly love each other.  They just fight a lot more.

Edit:

This is it, exactly.  I love the rival romance.  I did a friendship romance as well, and I loved that too.  Also, there are differences depending on Hawke's personality.  I think the rival romance works so well with my b!tchy Hawke.  They're both so mean!

Both romances are passionate, though.  Fenris is passionate, full of anger and hate.  But he cracks with either, and it's beautiful :)

I wouldn't go as far as to say that friendship romance is nothing but hugs and kisses, well I at least found it pretty darn passionate.

Ohh the Rivalmance.
I'm thinking of doing a Rivalmance for my next playthrough, but from what I hear it's pretty much the same.

Just got the Merrill/Fenris party banter that made me smile. Short version-

Merrill: You're in loveee.
Fenris: I am not.
Merrill: Every time she looks away, you look at her with those big sad puppy eyes.
Fenris: There are no puppy eyes here.

Then she says something about being careful, because his face might crack if he smiles. :P

Thank you ^^ That was the answer I was looking for. So no sleeping around when you are with Fenris...My poor femHawk xD Is this also about true about flirting or just a night of passion with another character?

Technically, he's not cussing in that rivalmance scene.

Fenris: Festis bei umo canavarum.
Hawke: Let me guess. You're upset. Again.
Fenris: It means, "you will be the death of me."

Kekeke. I much prefer rivalmances. Friendmances are so soft in comparison.

Yes, he does, and quite contemptously!  Too bad we don't have a comeback along the lines of "well RAWR to you too!!"

I've read so many places (not just in this thread) how everybody rival romanced Fenris if they were a mage. I, personally, had no problem maxing out his friendship meter. In fact, he was the second one to become completely loyal to me (Aveline being the first, followed closely by Varric). Besides his initial recruitment conversation when he noticed I was a mage and asked what I wanted (to which I replied "Survival") and when I took him to the Gallows and we discussed the chantry and I said it was a broken institution (not that I wanted to free all the mages, or that the chantry was right) I never got any other rival points from him---I also find it incredibly endearing how when we walk into the Gallows he shows concern that perhaps I shouldn't be there; it made me smile a little, and I told him I'd be careful.

And I took him everywhere with me. I got a lot of points with him, though, because my Hawke did not tolerate blood magic at all. And I never even entertained the notion of listening to demons. I killed them on sight. There was only one instance when I didn't take him to a conversation, simply because I didn't want to deal with his +10 rivalry, but that was it. I even managed to walk a fine line between being Merrill's friend and condemning blood magic. A very fine line indeed.

I've also read how people think it's stupid that, just because you're his friend, he stops disapproving of your support of mages (and how he sides with them in the final battle). Throughout much of Act II I had his friendship meter maxed, which was after A Bitter Pill (because that's always one of the first to trigger for me), and I always imagine he's making it up to me for sleeping with me then leaving me.

And I find it incredibly romantic that he would go against his prejudices because he loves Hawke.

Also, I think all the end romance scenes pale in comparison to when he tells Hawke not to die, to which I always reply that I'll only make that promise if he does.
"Nothing is going to keep me from you." :wub:And I further died of happiness inside when Varric says that circumstances forced all of Hawke's friends from her side...well, except for Fenris...<3

I'm going to go watch that scene again...

P.S. Sorry, this is so long, but the sarcastic response is also priceless:

Hawke: I didn't quite catch that. Can you speak up?
Fenris: Then let me make it clearer for you.

I did the same. There's something quite lovely about playing a mage that he comes to respect because you're "strong", and you go against what he says "all mages" do.
...also adds some awkward moments, when he says things like "mages always do things like this!" and poor Hawke just sort of quirks an eyebrow at him.

Even the aggressive "I don't plan on dying" is awesome. Especielly with his response being"you'd better not!" xD

Anyhow, I'll see if I can pull off a rival romance. I keep telling myself I'll romance Anders but yeeeah not gonna happen. 8D T'is good to know though that the rival one isn't a fling, but an actual romance too! Thanks guys.
