Did anyone else catch the hilarious banter between Fenris, Anders, and Isabella? I love Fenris! He insults so well
www.youtube.com/watch

That's hilarious. I've never heard Isabela's part because she always leaves me before I get that banter. Though, the first time I heard that banter it was after I had forgiven Fenris and we were back together, which alarmed me at first because I thought my game got messed up. I still love when Anders stops you and says its not his place to criticize, but wouldn't I rather be with someone more open-minded than Fenris, and calls him a 'mad dog' (or something of the like). To which I always reply that he just doesn't know him, and Fenris cuts into the conversation. Is this specific to the romance, or does it happen regardless. Though I kind of don't want to know whether it happens regardless, because it further fuels my belief that Anders is secretly in love with me. Because, well, I did flirt with him a little...Ah. I <3 love triangles.

P.S. After helping Isabela, and telling her she could have the relic (and she leaves me for good) I get a little icon, next to where the dog icon is, saying "Isabela has your back", indicating that we are at frienship level, yet she is no longer one of my companions. Is this a kind of glitch? Has anyone else seen it?

The Anders thing happens regardless of the romance or whether or not you flirt with him. He was pratically throwing himself at my Hawke right after Karl died. I had to flat out refuse thus earning my rivalry sigh... Anders might just have a crush on Hawke, but I think it more that he doesn't like nor understand why his leader would love a guy like Fenris. The Isabela thing is not a glitch. She will return to help you in the final battle if you had high enough friendship. Unfortunately for me it wasn't high enough so no more of her amusing banter for me :(

I choose to believe that it is because he disapproves of my relationship with Fenris because he is in love with me as well :pinched: lol. I'm just stubborn like that. And as far as my canon playthrough is concerned, it's the truth  But thanks for the answer, anyway.

I don't think Isabela returned for my final battle (you mean the battle against Meredith, right?), though Zevran did show up. That was a shock to me. I turned around, thought I was being attacked by something else, before I realized it was Zevran. In my mind I was telling him he better not let Fenris see him, considering they didn't part on the best of circumstances. Ah, Fenris basically promised to rearrange Zevran's face after the Antivan Crow proposed that we 'get to know each other better'.

Okay, WTH?
In my version...Zevran suggests we get to know eachother better, and Fenris says something along the lines of, "You may want to reconsider, unless you want to use up the rest of that luck you were speaking of" or something to that effect.
I want the "rearranging the face" dialogue. :crying:

Oh, hahaha. He didn't actually say he would rearrange Zevran's face, it's just something my friend said when I showed Zevran's cameo to her. He said the same thing in my playthrough that he did in yours, but my friend started cracking up, because I muttered aloud (as if to Fenris) "You never let me have any fun." When I asked her what was so funny she said she thought it would be hilarious to see Fenris rearrange Zevran's face if I was actually allowed to say that in game.

I frequently make the mistake of merging in game things with my own imagination and real life experiences. Sorry :innocent:

Ahh well. :P At least I didn't miss out on super-funny dialogue. LMFAO I would've LOVED to see Fenris tell someone he's going to rearrange their face.

Are you a PC player? Because I can understand how you might dislike some mechanics. On a console I feel that the mechanics were way better than Origins. But that would be going into the whole console vs. PC war, and that's not what I want. But I can definitely see where you're coming from, whether or not you are on the PC.

But yes. The story was more engaging for me. I really don't understand how people can say "it's not gaming's greatest story" as if proclaiming it's bad. While I won't say that it is the greatest, what exactly are they comparing it to? Considering the host of unimaginative shooters out there, games that rehash the epic evil angle, and everything else, I don't see how you can't appreciate that the story is very different. It takes more thinking, which is what I feel people had a problem with. But I like political struggles. Especially fantasy ones.

Well yeah I am but that has nothing to do with it because my only complaint. is I've hated the new conversation system since Awakening. I don't WANT to click on a tree to talk to someone. DA2 is better than Awakening in that respect, but still I liked being able to chat any time I wanted to. I liked the "kiss him" options being there when we were out and about, and i liked the "lets go to bed" options being there, which would be great since we all have homes. Thats the only thing I like better in Origins. Well,m and elf faces were much better:P

I don't see any need for a platform war over missing the old conversation system and repeatable kisses and love scenes I think all platforms had that. :)

Soo fenris had his usual comment on the hanged man, something about ale and smell of desperation.

Isabella was in the party so she said "hey, I live here." In which he replied "Then I stand corrected" in a bloody smug tone. HAH.

Quoting myself because I do that.  This is the goodbye before the final battle between Fenris and a rivalry romanced b!tchy mage.  It is not as sweet as the friendship one, but it still very sweet and hot.  And I recommend NOT looking at it and spoiling it, but it's here if you want it.  I am not posting the friendship one, though I'm sure someone will.  Because they're  too awesome and all

Edit: Gah, I picked a nicer dialog choice, and got the squee moment...

Oh no. I wasn't trying to start anything, or say anything really. It's just all my friends who disliked mechanics in DAII disliked them because they are PC players. I wasn't really trying to put you in that camp. Sorry if I somehow offended.

I did kind of miss being able to talk to my companions anytime I wanted to, but I was used to it because I played Mass Effect 1 & 2 before I even picked up Origins. So, for me, Origins was weird, while DAII felt familiar. Hopefully, future DLC will allow more conversations with companions. I would love that...

Eeee!  I actually like that one better.  Choosing the more renegade/blunt options in his romance lends it a lot of heat right on top of the rivalry and it makes a great contrast to the underlying true love element.  That little smirk he gives her right before going in for the kiss is kind of like "You talk tough but you love me and you know it."

Though, that isn't really exclusive to a rivalry romance. I get that scene if I chose the aggressive comment, and I was on the friendship path with him. I think all of his end romance moments are swoon worthy, though I love the "good" choice the most.

I don't think Fenris is a virgin.  Not only does he not say that in the conversation (he really doesn't), his old master implies that sex was one of his duties and compliments his skill.  What he says is that he doesn't have any memories of before he had the markings, and that he has never been close to anyone since he escaped.  It's possible he's a virgin, but maybe I'm strange, but I did not get that out of the conversation.

Alistair and Zevran and Fenris were all written by David Gaider (I believe).  I see some dialogs from Fenris that are similar to Zevran, and some that are similar to Alistair.  But he's very different from both as well.

I'm a wimp, but I refuse to believe he was a sex slave.  I didn't get that from the conversation and am sticking with my blissful innocence before looking at this thread.  Image IPB

I prefer to think he had a lover but it was another slave or something.

I wasn't ever reminded of Zevran with him, and only of Alistair in asking that question.  He's very different from either of them.  I love the fact that he's a scholar and student of people even though he can't read.  Image IPB  And I'm still gutted that I didn't ever find Zevran's quest giver and consequently didn't get his cameo.  *curses in Tevinter and Antivan*

Ah, I had someone on youtube and someone here tell me that the difference is the b!tchy option, not whether it's a rivalry or friendship relationship.  And I did get the sweet response on her when I picked the nice one so...  Gah, next romance, I side with the templars to see the differences!

I didn't say he was a sex slave, though.  I said that was one of his duties, and that's because Denarius talks about how skilled he is (and in the context he does seem to be talking about sex).  He was a bodyguard, though, not a sex slave.

Regarding Zevran lines, one of his ambient comments after everything is settled between them is "I am yours."

Edit: I can't even begin to speculate about what he remembered -- I think it was that he started feeling and remembering ANYTHING.  The floodgates opened so to speak and he desperately wanted to shut them again.

Danarius is a disgusting slimy creep.  He'd say ANYTHING to try and humiliate Fenris in that moment, and make Hawke see  him differently. I don't buy it.  Because he says he hasn't been with with ANYONE since his markings. If Fenris is anything it's bluntly honest. He's almost sten like in his straight forwardness.  Danarius wants his slave back and would do and say anything to make Hawke want to give him up.

I came very late to ME and still could take it or leave it, though I enjoyed the game and especially ME2.  Mechanics wise, the thing I have a hard time with in DA2 is casting AoE spells.  Half the time they don't work, the gold circle just stays there derpy-like and nothing happens.  Apparently the cursor has to be gold for you to be able to cast, but I end up clicking like crazy trying to get the spell to cast.  Very annoying.

@ejoslin, I guess if it's one of his duties- to me that means he's a sex slave.  Not that he was a prostitute, but that he serviced Danarius.  I still don't think it's a certainty, even looking at the conversation with the nuance you point to.  It's a matter of how you interpret it.  I assumed the slimy bastard was only talking about combat skills.  I'm going to cling to my first interpretation until DG says otherwise.

Yes.  Varric started to say "we all separated from her..." or something like that, and I held my breath.  But he adds "except for Fenris, of course."

I didn't say he was a sex slave, though.  I said that was one of his duties, and that's because Denarius talks about how skilled he is.  He was a body guard.

Regarding Zevran lines, one of his ambient comments after everything is settled between them is "I am yours."

I agree i think Danarius would saying anything to make Hawk give him up
