Continuing on with discussion of what the scarf means, I always took it as less of "I'M A SLAVE 4 U" and more of a knight carrying a token of his love with him into battle.

Knights begged "tokens" from ladies. And were presented with "favours" such as a veil, ribbon, or the detachable sleeve of a ladies dress. These 'favours' would be displayed by the Knight attached to his arm, his helm or tied to his lance. The lady thereby showed her favour to the knight who would dedicate his performance at the tournament to the lady.

^^^ along those same lines, the "twig" thing being a lock of hair would fit too, as men used to carry around locks of their beloveds' hair(usually in a locket or pouch)

...for those heartless enough to hand Fenris back over to Danarius(seriously, how could you?!) do you think he would ever try to escape again? Since apparently Danarius sends Hawke a letter saying that Fenris had his memories wiped again. Bastard. >_>

I never thought of it as anything other than a favor. It's a sign of his loyalty and, for lack of a better word, devotion.

Did you see that dejected, lifeless walk as he goes with Danarius? That is not the walk of someone who's alive! Image IPB
So yes... android. Image IPB

Also, still on the subject of the red band/ribbon thing... I assume Fenris didn't run off to the market real quick while Hawke slept or something... which means it would have had to come from somewhere/something in the house... probably Hawke's... what do you think it came from, exactly? Image IPB I expect Hawke will be innocently going through her/his drawers a few days later and find a great rectangle gone from his/her favorite robe, or something...

I am having serious issues being mean to Fenris. I just started the whole thing over again (why not? I messed up the first time) and I'm having my first conversation with him. And he's all like, "To have the option, must be gratifying." The meanest option is, "You whine too much". LMFAO the friendship romance part of me says, "But, but, but...he had such a HARD LIFE!"

A little while ago I mentioned how I like to imagine he found a scarf of hers while she was sleeping, and kept it. Though, I have to say, if I was really roleplaying my character her room wouldn't be that clean. My Hawke is in too much of a hurry to keep her things tidy. All he would have to do would be to take a step and he'd find something. lol. Random information for you there...

If only that were an "examine" option in the house, after that scene. "Examine" a pile of clothes, and Hawke wonders aloud "Where did that red scarf go? I had planned to wear it out tonight for drinks with Aveline and Donnic. Image IPB"

I also love that Fenris wears the Hawke (formerly Amell) family crest on his belt, and ties a red scarf around his wrist. I always imagine he took it while she was sleeping, because he knew she might hate him after he left and he wanted something of hers. Even if you romance someone else, he still wears it. It makes me happy...[/b]

Really? That just makes me sad. If Hawke is going to move on, he should too. For his own sake :(

I think I should be clearer. It doesn't make me happy that Hawke moves on and he doesn't. Because, really, I never could begin a romance with someone else after Fenris walked out. I was faithful until the end. I knew he would come around. I only know he still wears it because I've been told. It makes me happy that, even though he walked out, he's still in love with Hawke. And he still cares for Hawke if she (or he) moves on. He tells Anders he'll kill him if he breaks her (or his) heart.

Well, my point still stands regardless of whether or not you personally did it. It just makes me sad to think that for all these years anyone (not exclusive to Fenris) would still be clinging with sentimentality to someone who has clearly moved on. During the three years that passed when neither of them had moved on and their status was a bit more nebulous, I understand it better. Though I suppose it is his own business if he wants cling to it to regardless of how Hawke feels, it's just sad and I imagine a bit awkward.

And I suppose the scarf does come in handy... as a blindfold, or restraints or...

There is some banter with Isabela that suggests that she and Fenris become invovled. Though, I don't know if that happens only if you don't romance him at all, or if it can happen if you romance him, then let him go.

You could also take it as he keeps the token as a memento of the love he had for Hawke. Even if he moves on eventually, he would still remember the feelings he had for Hawke. After all, she (or he) changed his life drastically, whether a friend or rival.

After you become Champion, when you examine the writing desk in the library Hawke complains about the parties in Kirkwall requesting the presence of the Champion. I always imagine her showing up in full armor, slightly bloody, with Fenris at her side, looking fairly unpresentable. It serves them right for inviting the mage who personally killed the Arishok. She likes battles, not parties.

question! I know you can romance Anders after the break-up with Fenris, but can you romance Anders before Fenris? Or have a "visit" with Isabella? I want to experience the other romances....but I like Fenris too much to have Hawke end up with anyone else.

From what I understand, you can romance both Fenris and Isabella without affecting any other romances, however, if you have Merrill or Anders move in, it automatically removes any other flagged romances.  So it's possible to romance all 4, and keep whoever the last one is.

Please forgive me for asking this if it's obvious but...is there an option to continue the romance with Fenris in Act 3? I got the love scene in Act 2 and then he left me. I was wondering if I have to do anything in particular to get it back on track (other than flirting with him after the Danarius quest, that is).

Just talk to him right after the Danarius quest, in his mansion. As far as I've heard...
since idiot me decided "he needs time!" so had pretty much finished act 3 before I got around to talk to him. >_< this is why I replay games...

Edit: So, after rewatching that scene^^^... say Fenris' white hair is a result of the lyrium(or stress or whatever you like)... would that mean that his hair used to be gingery-red, like his sisters'? Image IPB

I wonder about Anders too. You can have a fling with Isabela. It actually helps your friendship, though I've never done it. I am unable to stop myself from flirting with Fenris. It's an uncontrollable reaction. I casually flirt with Anders, but nothing serious. Fenris is the only one for me.

Also, in my guide it says it's not advisable to flirt with others after officially beginning your romance (for Fenris I believe this would be in Act II after "A Bitter Pill" quest). Does anyone know what happens? Is it anything special, or is it more of a "it'll screw up your current romance in a roundabout kind of way"?

I haven't seen this reference yet to his red scarf/bandanna thing. I know it's a token of affection but given Bioware's well evidenced adult humor I can't help but wonder if it's jab at Handkerchief Code. It started in the '70s as a way to indicate different interests in sexual practices.

http://en.wikipedia....ndkerchief_code (nothing shocking on the page, subject is NSFW)

Scroll down to the helpful little chart and you will see that Red indicates fisting.

Given the banter between him and Isabela...

That's an interesting thought.
I've never thought of what his hair color might've been or if it even have changed. My guess is that it used to be red and the lyrium turned it white.
Of course...I can't imagine Fenris NOT being the way he is now. When he mentioned playing in the courtyard with his sister as a child, my face looked like this () as I tried to imagine Fenris as a little kid with a pre-pubescent voice...but all I got was like...a mini chibi version of Fenris who still had a deep voice. :?
