That's the kiss you get if you continue the romance with him after the quest with his sister. There are no surprise kisses from what I know of. D:

And I love the angry look Anders get during that quest. Again, awesome expressions by Fenris.

Speaking of awesome Fenris expressions, this one wins for the best

The animators did such a fantastic job on DA2 with facial expressions.  I swear I could hear my heart breaking when I saw this face.

And holy surprise Kissing after the sister quest.

I-what? Surprise kisses? How'd you get that? D:

It happened when he asked for forgiveness in act three :D

Also? All sisters in this game suck. His, and Hawke's. She gets sick in the deep roads, we get her to the wardens and she's now ticked off with me for...saving her life and keeping her out of the circle. Bah!

How did you get an option to make her a Grey Warden?  Carver just keeled over in my game.

One thing I'm finding is that my diplomatic Hawke gets dialogue options that snarky Hawke doesn't.  Like good two shoes was able to tell the Fereldan refugees that confront you after asking about Anders, "I'm just as Fereldan as you" and they left her alone.  Snarky Hawke told them she was no threat to their healer but they attacked her anyway.  Goody two shoes also talked down the Dalish confronting a former werewolf, and Snarky had no option but to fight them.  It's kind of funny.  Snarky Hawke thinks she's quite a wit and everyone in Kirkwall is terribly unimpressed.  lol

I have just started to romance Fenris. One thing I find is that I am having to save and reload alot! i general tend to side with mages (as I usually play a mage) though as I am a rogue I will allow myself some slack!

I find it really up and down with him, just after something happens hes gets angry and runs of. My first impression is "did i choose wrong!?".

I came home to find him waiting for me (act2) after The sickening Fog quest.. No flashing/light but i was the one who threw him against the wall, not what I had read. Afterwards he left saying it was basically a bad idea he spent the night. Did I do something wrong? Arghh I need to know :P

No, he always leaves.  Just keep at him.  He'll be back.

@addai - you need to have Anders with you to make Carver or Bethany a Grey Warden

*Uses the other half of the tissues to dry up tears from that face*

How can anyone resist that and give Fenris back to that Magister person? How, when he makes expressions like that?

Hmmm, I was able to make Carver a gray warden, but Bethany died. I think if you have Anders in your party, you can save your sibling.  After all, he can find the gray wardens who are in the deeproads.

I object to "no surprise kisses" it's a surprise if you didn't know it happens until he lays it on ya:happy:

Took her to the deep roads with Anders in the party. He'll get you to the Wardens down there.

And my Hawke's have both been "purple" choosers. I still talked down the Dalish, but didn't have the option of the Ferelden comment. My next is a mage, I intend her to be sister mary sunshine but I haven't played an aggressive hawke yet, or one thats lost her wholefamily. So She might start out diplomatic, then move to smartass and in act 3 go agressive. She'll also be rivalry romancing Fen.

Caught up since last night!

Re: Cullens -- I'm sorry, I meant that someone snarked that Fenris was a emo romance a la Cullen and I was saying plenty of people who hated the movie still liked this romance. Was just encouraging a new poster to give the romance a try despite the knee-jerk labels, not that he was actually written to be like Cullen.

Re: Siding with mages

I really had to think about this for a while. Neither choice was a good option because both sides were so messed up. What tipped the scales was Meredith invoking the Right of Annulment on mages that weren't even responsible for the Chantry blowing up. Mages were being punished for the actions of few -- anyone can be a terrorist. It doesn't take magic to do that. Mages were cut off from a normal life because of the fear, were being made tranquil to promote fear and docileness, and there's only so much oppression that people can take before they snap back. Anders was a good example of this. Annuling innocent mages wasn't the answer because it would just maintain the status quo for templars. Hit the reset button and maintain the same templar rules. The fact that I was playing a mage at the same time meant that if I had sided with the templars, then I had to be prepared to practice what I preached and submit myself to the rule of templars as well. None of Hawke getting to be special enough to be exempt from the Circle. I didn't have any answers for how templars could deal with rogue mages and those that truly did abuse their powers. Annuling the circle was just right in my face and seemed to be the crisis of the moment so that's why I just picked mages then and braced myself for the "you fail" epilogue cards that never came. =p

@Addai -- I totally love the dialogue differences!  I get what you mean. There have been some aggressive option that I appreciated like getting the rebel Qunari to fight alongside aggressive Hawke while he'd just wave off the peacemaker and let us fight on our own. My next run will be sarcastic Hawke, which is going to be pretty hard to consistently play because some of the responses are just ... ugh. Not appropriate for the situation. I still want to see what extra options it unlocks in gameplay though. I am vastly amused at how some things are going to happen in the game no matter what. "I want you to be a half-owner of the Bone Pit." "No." "You drive a hard bargain. Here's some extra gold. You are now a half-owner of the Bone Pit. Go save the men you don't want to be responsible for. They're in Lowtown. Off you go."

Note Carver, oblivious as always.

Because of his slight hunch, his looking around during idle often catches adorable looks.  Checking out your ass, checking out Varric, staring intently at you, or here, where he looks like he's sneaking a peek.

i like to call Sarcastic!Hawke, "Awkward!Hawke".   Because no one ever really laughs.  They're pity laughs.  And its too classic when a companion calls you out for a wildly innappropriate comment and you can just be all "What? what did i say?"

Ok fair enough, most of the kisses around Fenris do come as surprises. xD

And Sebastian and Fenris just discussed turning in Anders I think in the party banter o.o... and Fenris was all "if you wanna turn him in, take it to hawke." xD

I don't feel bound by always picking the same response.  Sometimes Snarky is nice, sometimes she is shirty.  The sarcastic lines are pretty funny though.  I like her much better than Girl Scout.  I figure, as an apostate who's seen a hard road even before the Blight, humor is a coping mechanism.

Killing the Dalish is hard on me though.  Image IPB

I thought I was going to be all over Anders, and I'd have a hard time romancing any other companion. I loved his character in Awakenings ... not really for romance, but I loved the personality. I figured a bit more grown-up, Wardeny Anders would be so awesome! I was so very, very eager.

Alas, such was not to be. I still like his DA2 personality... it tears my heart out, I want to help him, I want to make things right.

But it's Fenris that I keep honing in on, whether it be Friend or Rival Romance. He seems to one sided at first... and winds up being much deeper than it appears.

I just wish his blasted house didn't have 6 year old corpses littering the floor! Argh!

Re: Sarcastic Hawke : I just completed a snarky Hawke Mage play-through. I did NOT choose purple every time, though it was the majority of my choices. Quite often, though, I picked blue, and a very few, red. I still had the purple dominant personality, and I rather enjoyed it! There's some really great lines in there.
----
Re: Blue glowy kiss : I got this on my first play-through, with a blue-dominant personality Rogue - however, I don't think I was quite maxed on Friendship at the time. Perhaps 75/80%.

I got the same thing when I took a friendship romance with him. I was surprised, in a good way.:P
But it probably just depends on the dialogue choices you make during his personal missions, I think.

Exactly. I think in terms of personality, Aveline was my favorite companion in the game, but I definitely think that Fenris is the most complex.

If someone asked me to summarize Fenris in a few words, I wouldn't be able to do it.  There's just so much going on with him and so many layers to his personality. I was not expecting that level of depth at all and it really just blew me away.

Seb and Anders get more intense later in the game than early on. It's actually fun to watch.
I really like that Fenris actually gets along with everyone in the party except the mages, for obvious reasons.

While I like Anders personality, I do kind of dislike how he treats the other companions - there are plenty of uncalled for comments and reactions, especially towards the end when he gets full blown paranoid. I think this aspect slightly tips the scale in liking Fenris more, personality wise.

Fenris always reacts that way when touched.
