I'm glad Hawke says nothing, I'd be a bit annoyed if a Hawke I was playing as anti mage/pro templar after that point said "oh no, it wasn't magic that made him do it !" And I even played my mage hawk as having issues with Orsino/ The Circle at that point. Because well, yeah he'd have still been crazy as a non mage he wouldn't have had the ability to reanimate that thing! She didn't decide to help the circle til the very end where she couldn't refuse to take a side.
And I didn't tell Gamlen about the details. I just couldn't even if I hated the guy. That was his sister and noone should have a bad visual after she's gone if they don't have to.
I think it's probably better Hawke says nothing than something to break RP. But they could've kept track of what you said to Gamlen and had you repeat that. Would've been awesome.
Reanimation isn't what my Hawke cared about. The fact that their mother was chopped up which may have happened regardless is what screwed them up.
I always tell Gamlen. He asked and my Hawke told him to truth. It's hard, it's bitter and horrible but at least he knows what happened. He'd have had a bad visual regardless or did they just leave her body down there and not bother burying it near the rest of the family? Especially considering the bits and pieces don't belong completely to Leandra...

Nah just gave him the option to resurrect the body. Nothing would've stopped him from simply kidnapping Leandra and forcing her to play the role of his wife if he was twisted enough. And he probably was.
Hell he might've still cut her up and sewed her body together just would've tried a more frankestein method without magic. Wouldn't have worked but the psycho probably didn't care enough to verify it before hand. Seems that Leandra was his first success.
Indeed I just wish I could've said that.
But she would have still had her own body and have been rescuable by Hawke. It's better that my mother role plays for a couple of hours than have what he actually did with the help of magic done to her.Ryzaki wrote...

Magic did give that psycho that sick option. If he was a regular man there would have been nothing he could do to get his wife back and that would be it, but with powerful magic he was able to pull that bride of FrankensteinBut your right it was not because he was a mage, but a psycho. Magic or Sword it can be used to protect or kill. It's all up to the wielder.

It was blood magic that even made this all possible. And it was the First Enchanter Orsino who KNEW about it and LET it happen. All in all, this is a major fault to the mages. If even their leader is effing insane, what hope is there for them?

ah. I couldn't set my mom's body on fire. *shudders*
I'd bury her.
Though I see why you spared Gamlen the misery. I don't know personally I rather just be told the truth. It in my view almost always comes out sooner or later.dandybananas wrote..

Not necessarily. If he kept her whole yeah. But he apparently was fixated on his wife's delicate fingers and skin.
Still might've just carved them up and placed them all together. It's a throwback to Frankestien. And Dr. Whatever his name was certainly didn't have magic. He used what he could. If not bloodmagic it would've been something else.UltiPup wrote...

Bloodmagic allowed him to reanimate Leandra sure. Lack of bloodmagic wouldn't have stopped him from killing her if he wanted to. It wouldn't have stopped him from carving her up.
As for First Encanter Orsino he did know sure. He =/= all mages. Your blaming the actions of a few people on a whole group. That's where oppresion and abuses begin.
One could say if not for the abuses of the circle and mages being free those two might've been caught more quickly because other mages wouldn't have hidden their actions out of fear for themselves being punished.

I'm blaming the First Enchanter. First Enchanter. Leader of the Circle. He just isn't ANY mage. He is supposed to keep order within his Circle. And he plainly didn't. If we are to trust mages, we need First Enchanters to be strong, not weak.

LOL, I clicked on Leandra after I got that comment from Gamlen and she said, "An elven slave? Maker, I hope you know what you're doing." Something like that. I thought that was such an odd comment she made. It wasn't until my second game when I romanced Isabela and Leandra STILL said the same thing that I finally realized she's actually talking about the elf that I hired into my household. LOL. *facepalm* Maa-aaa-aan. =pLady Jess wrote...

I'm not blaming magic. I am blaming Orsino for forsaking his duties and giving mages a bad name. How can the public trust magic if the one who is supposed to be in power abuses it? The public is a flock of sheep. It takes so little to frighten them.

Ah I see.
I got confused because Fen's quote is directed towards magic in general not specific mages. Which is what annoys me about Hawke's inability to point it out.

Indeed. Hawke tried very hard to show him the goodness of magic, but then that thing with mother, Anders, Merrill, Orisino, Demons, and every mage we ran into happened :bandit:Makes his siding with you and the mages at the end all the more sweet/crazy.UltiPup wrote...

I Rivalmanced Fenris and disagreed with him on mages at every point. He has every right to hate magic. It turned his life into a hell. Mages mercilessly tormented him. He saw unspeakable things in Tevinter. He sees the dark siode of magic. It is asking the impossible to remove all that from his mind. Its not far from the truth that magic has stained his soul.
Fenris was unable to see the good things that come from magic. It has to take a long time for him to change his opinion he held for nearly his entire life. And if mages still rebel in such ways, that can never happen. Templars push, mages push back. Its a never ending circle neither side will stop.
