I agree the betrayal scene was horrible, but Anders is a good guy with good intentions. He, like every character, has a lot of issues. All of them have moments when they are not at their best and it can seem especially worst when they're horrible to one's bias character. The guy runs a free clinic for the poor, which is completely admirable and just wants to help his fellow mages even if he goes about it the wrong way. Although I would never tell Anders to leave unless he really deserved it and because his healing is absolutely necessary when playing on hard or nightmare, where did you get that option?Lady Jess wrote...

Also considering Anders is a douchebag, it's no wonder Fenris is annoyed that you keep Anders around. Anyone who can agree with wanting to sell him back to slavery is a horrible human being.
Not gonna lie, after his Act 2 quest when he asked me if he should leave, I totally told Anders to gtfo kirkwall. And have no remorce.
He was with me for Fen's quest, and since I didn't betray Fenris it didn't happen. I don't judge him based on what happened in scenarios I don't play. I also don't buy that anders is a douch theory. Anders is whatever Anders is in each of my games. Sometimes Hawke thinks he's a jerk, sometimes she'll feel bad for him, she may even hate him at some point depending on the character. But I, the player, think he and Fen are both extremely well done characters thatr I love.

Lol, reminds me of the a scene from the movie Megamind which I just watched the other day, when the reporter lady Roxanne says to Metroman and Megamind: "Ugh, girls, girls, you're both pretty! Can I go home now?"Lady Jess wrote...

I think it's funny. They both say "get rid of that loser"- they're fighting over you. Though having the two of them in the party is like squabbling children.Lady Jess wrote...
And Fenris, I adore him, and I love the Zev scene. But honestly that scene with Anders where he questions your relationship? Fen ticked me off. Yell at Anders about being a hypocrit, fine. But look at ME and deliver "a mage and a hypocrit, what company you keep." while giving me this look and I was annoyed as hell.
I want the option to say
"Ya know what, you two are going to gather this crap together, and I'm going to the Hanged Man to play cards. If you aren't getting along when you come back there will be priviledges taken away" *stare pointedly at Fenris as she handcuffs them together*

That's the thing though, when someone is that determined to start a revolution. It rules their life, and eventually consumes them. If he wasn't bringing up the mage/templar debate so often and then went and did what he did during the finale, I'd be sorely disappointed. And bewildered.
When I am trying to go across a dangerous terrain to fight a big ass dragon or whatever I am gonna kill, I don't need Anders to pip in at every step and isolate himself.
Luckily, I'll be a Mage next run. No Anders. Just me, Fenris, Aveline, and...crap. I don't know who will be my fourth.
Take Varric. Great banter, and you need a rouge to open chests. XD
Agreed. Put Varric in that fourth slot-- it makes for priceless situations.

I wished my Hawke could of said "I suggest that as well" with an evil glare and ominous voice. I love Isabela and her teasing of Fenris can be funny, but we all know she would be on him if given the opportunity it is Fenris after all. And they do have sex if you don't romance either one of them. Ahhhh! Makes me angry just thinking about. I'm always keeping an eye on her and anyone who tries to snatch my elf <_<kgaustad wrote...

My Hawke tried to stay neutral and would habe loved to be able to agree with Varric about being tired of both groups. She (as born as a free mage) values freedom and would want more freedom for mages, but she also knows how dangerous they are and don't really have a problem templars order. The only problem she has is the insane fanatics there are among both groups. She don't deal with demons and thinks blood magic is a stupid idea to dabble with.
I ended up siding with the mages because of the injustice of the entire circle and killing Anders since his betrayal and murder of the most sensible person among the "friends in high places" + a bunch of innocent people not connected to the Order.
Regarding Fen:
Was I the only one who kept clicking on him just to hear "I'm yours"?

Yeah. Varric deserves to be back in my life. Though I REALLY want to do the Nathaniel quest.
Question: I have an Awakening file that hasn't been finished yet. Literally barely started it. If I tried to use that file, what would the default decisions be? Should I try finishing?
I'm not certain. I'm actually doing the same myself this playthrough. I'm hoping that having him alive at the beginning is enough...I didn't even finish the first mission after the Keep...

I'm not sure what will happen with a partial save. I do know that if you play with the 'no compromises' import offered with the game, you will get Nate & Zev quests.
Also, to avoid the bug with Nate not appearing if you killed the architect, import from the auto save right before you go into the nest and meet the Architect/kill the mother. I accidentally pulled from that save instead of the one at the mother and I got Nate. Of course, that only applies if you got that far in Awakening I suppose

I would have liked to do it!
I don't know what is wrong, I click on him but although I completed the romance, I just get "tell me, and it is done", "I enjoy following you"...should I click more? xD Not that I mind hearing those lines, but I really want the "I am yours" (reminds me of Zev too >.>). Friendlymance with 100 approval...I don't know, I'll try more tonight
Regarding the Origins/Awakening import of a non-completed game, I'd just suggest you to use the Save Generator ( http://social.bioware.com/project/4242/ ). I've tried it for a second playthrough (I wanted to import the choices I made on my Xbox) and it worked like a charm, I've checked with the console and the flags were all correct (aside the Zev romanced one, but it is normal). I would give it a try
I imported a non-completed Origins file in Awakening, completed Awakening and witch hunt and imported that in DA2, and some choices were messed up. The game just decides whatever is canon for it, like Alistair King (but for some reasons it even said Loghain was alive and my Warden dead...even if the Awakening one said it wasn't Orlesian and Merril recognized she was dalish and even saw her in Kirkwall o.O). My Nathaniel, even if it was in the Brookdmother fight, apparently was not recruited in the Wardens...but managed to left them anyway! Strange things happen with the imports

I remember him saying "I'm yours" in Act 3, not sure if he says it before then. It was a nice touch - and then I realize that he never says I love you, which gives the relationship a kind of unique nuance.
I'm using that save generator for my second playthrough and my game insists that I burned Amaranthine to the ground.. but I don't believe I made that option.
Other than that, the saves work perfectly.

Patience paid off. I had to click 30 (!) times but at long last he said it. 5 times in a row for greater justice
It's just that he has so many more lines when i click on him, I've counted six at least...the others have like one or two for me, I panicked when he said "Yes, my friend".
I like even the allusive tone he has with "I enjoy folling you" or "Always a pleasure"...

I was super-super-sad I didn't get a kiss with Anders in the Gallows scene. The one with Fenris is adorable ... I'd have thought after everything you'd gone through with Anders, choosing to side with the Mages and sticking by him after what he did, that you'd get an emotional moment with him like that. But no. Made me sad AND a little angry, actually.
EXACTLY!
I get to the Gallows scene, I talk to everyone else, and then I go to Anders. My fellow mage, my love, who I'd spared in the end because I couldn't part with him...
...and he doesn't touch me!
Vivian Hawke is still standing there, because I never finished that game with her. It was just a real let-down, especially since my first playthrough was a Fenris romance, and after his endgame kiss, Anders was just...
...
...an empty kind of nothing. Even if he had terribly sweet things to say.
I named her Vivian tooo! My first playthrough, mage and Fenris sweetnessss. <3

Well, imagine that your whole life you've been told what to do and as long as you do what you're told you can get by alright and then all of a sudden you have to start taking care of yourself.
You have to find a job, a place to live, since slaves don't get paid you wouldn't have expirience dealing with money...
Freedom could seem pretty terrifying! Like the slave girl you meet in his Act 2 quest, she was compleately baffled and had no clue what to do. She just asks, "Are you my master now?"
I can see how something like that might be scary at first, but eventually one would overcome that and move on. And realize... hey, I'm free. And not a slave. I would appreciate the sacrifice my brother had for me, rather than **** at him about it years later because I didn't want to put in the effort of taking care of myself.
You're thinking of this, as if you're suddenly free in a world like Kirkwall or Ferelden, where there IS something like opportunity for personal achievement and betterment. If you read up on Tevinter, or just listen to Fenris as he describes it during gameplay, there simply is no such chance in that country. There, rather, you're mired in an endless battle for supremacy, a total anarchical and chaotic game of "survival of the fittest".
Many elves in Tevinter actually sell themselves and/or their children into slavery. Otherwise, they starve. There's nothing else left for them to do. When you consider that sort of desperation as being so common a thing, it really does highlight what Fenris' sister was saying to him, when she said, "Freedom was no boon."
I recognize that it would be hard, I just don't see it as a bigger hardship than Fenris being tortured everyday. Besides, who says they have to stay in Tevinter? They could have migrated to Ferelden after the blight (especially since I freed the mages on my runthrough), or gone to the free marches. It's not like they were chained to Tevinter... which is a bonus of not being a slave. It wasn't a boon for her because she didn't take full advantage. There is ALWAYS opportunity. Fenris was a slave, yet he managed to escape to Kirkwall. They were free.

She would need monies to get out of Tevinter, as she needed money from Fenris to reach Kirkwall to meet him.
Chances are, her options were seriously limited, is all. And not only in terms of resources but in emotional and intellectual capacity to accept the difference between slavery and freedom. To her, the greatest thing to BE is a magister, and so that's what she aspires to be. Fenris' freeing her seriously compromises her chances to be anything more than a pitifully poor tailor in some small city in Tevinter. Freedom isn't some great thing, not to her. It's no boon, and Fenris' successes, such as they are, in that he's become a powerful fighter in control of his own destiny, is far better than what she's gotten. So she says so.
Seriously, the more I think on it, the more inclined I am to let Fenris kill her during my next PT, shrug. Self-serving witch of woman.
