I'm pretty sure us girls will get a chance with Isabela too.  So it technically could be a confirmation of a LI for both genders.

I know they havent released info on LI's but a nice trailer with a Fem Hawke sharing a passionate embrace with Fenris would be great.. ( wishful thinking I know) 

As far as i know, Alistair has been announced in december 2008 but he filled the LI part only after more companions (if not all) were announced. So probably we have to see the girl David promised, Bethany and Carver oficially then char videos...but the time is so short...

In the character design chart, where they line up the species from qunari to dwarves, it looks like male elves are just as tall as human females, maybe a liiittle bit taller seeing as the human ladies are standing on their tiptoes to compensate for height differences.

The Qunari are taller than the humans. It's not for certain but it'd be a good guess to say they changed the height to accomodate.

"Good" news...

What made this rivalry relationship so believable were the moments where the sibling interjected with a “story” from childhood, or blatantly challenged Hawke on a decision in a way that an another follower would never. I was also getting a sense that this sibling might be competition for a love interest, but that is purely speculation on my part.

I remember reading that companions can pursue relationships of their own as well but I stand to be corrected.
That would be something losing Fenris to your siblings especially Bethany I would be compelled to restart the game and If there is an option were she is crushed by an ogre instead of Carver I would replay it over and over and over and over and over and over again...

Why worry?

As the player you have - as In Exile once amusingly put it - the ability of Power Word: Reload.  Your sibling ain't gonna win.  Unless of course they're fated to do so and there's literally nothing you can do about it.  But I'm gonna say that scenario is doubtful.

Speaking of pop-ups, my lil bro was joking the other day when i was talking about Fenris/Thane...he said that a pop-up might appear and say "We are sorry, Fenris couldn't bear the lyrium anymore and died. Poor sod."
