You guys are making me sigh.

You can't see him again after having finished the game, right?
Okay, I haven't used the search function nor read the 1176 pages, but, you know. :(

Oh, if only I got it for the PC I don't need my parents and sister walking into the living room seeing that scene. My dad probably would have a cow.

It's a video game. It's not showing anything....explicit. Just two people making out....

My parents are a bit…well, strict isn't the word. they monitor the M rated games so if they saw that i'm afraid they, mainly my father might take it away . But you are right it is a video game. i think I 'm putting to much into it

Heh. I covered well from my family that there were romance scenes in DA:O (mainly because they'd pick on me non-stop + a couple of offenses from one or two). I can't really do this with DA2-- One of my father's employees plays it and never stops talking about it. Luckily, I'm out on my own now, but I'm at a stage where my family visits me a lot-- so much to the point that I don't stop what I'm doing when they come over.

I was actually playing DA2 when my parents came over a few days ago and he asked me if it was DA2, and I replied "Yes" and do you know what he asked me?

"How do you like the lesbianism in DA2?"

I looked up at him like WTF and went, before I came to the realization (and said out loud) that, "Your employee must be playing a chick that keeps flirting with Isabela or Merrill or both and started a relationship with one of them. "

He asked me (after a few more awkward questions) who do I have my character flirt and have a relationship with and I went, "Oh, my main tank."

"And who's that?"

I went into a cutscene a few seconds later and said, "See the elf-guy behind my character with the white hair and all the markings? That's my main tank." The look on his face was priceless (must be all of those "tattoos" :P ), and what made it better was apparently my mother had been listening in, walked out and went, "Oooh. Nice tats. Good girl, keeping the tank happy."

@ Helen0rz and panamakira - One problem with that. Once you go Fen you can't go back. I started Fenris with the intention of romancing the others at a later time. I only got around to Isabella my last playthrough. I had to reload because I couldn't romance Fenris after. >.>;

Next in line for me was going to be a crazy blood mage chick named "Nerezza" (nice dark hair, bright green eyes) that could manipulate anyone into liking her (If you catch the reference to this new character, you get a cookie) and she was going to go for Anders...

But Fenris... I'm tempted to make a character based off of my first mage in RIFT. They'd look so cute together!

DemonSaya wrote...

It's the voice. Every time he speaks (or swears in Tevinter) I have an epic level of fangirl-gasm, and squeel like I'm eight and hear an ice cream truck. >.>; Gideon Emery can narrate my dreams any day of the year...

*WARNING, WARNING, WARNING* *GUTTER ALERT, GUTTER ALERT* * WARNING, WARNING, WARNING*

*Drags self away from gutter*

It's sad, because I liked his voice originally, but I thought it didn't fit Fenris. I felt better about it after that one vid with Mike Laidlaw as they did Fenris's pick-up quest, but not anchored.

Now I can't think of anyone else as Fenris... that voice kills me now... The fountains of blood that come out of my nose as he speaks could flood my home.

I did rivalmance first with him and LOVED IT. I did friendmance second and didn't enjoy it as much... Yes, I chose him as my romance for two characters.

Anders wasn't my type. Also he had a thing with Karl so I mean you know. He just seems more like a good friend who likes kittens and blowing huge things up.

Honey, I am on the goddam boat (this is MY vehicle of transportation for fangirly-ness. Screw the bandwagons, and trains, and airplanes. Although chariots are nice *thinks back to good Roman days-- Thinks about gladiators-- Thinks about the fact Fenris competed for the markings-- Freezes. Backs away from the gutter*...) of not romancing another character but Fenris. It's just... so hard to resist. And the only way I could think of not romancing him would be not even grabbing him-- but he's my favorite tank. How can I leave my favorite tank? That's like... blasphemy.

Fenris' romance in my opinion is one of the best romances in-game (tied for me with Isabela). For once Ser Gaider wrote a character who doesn't tear my heart out. He tears other people's hearts out.

With Anders the major sticking point for me is the whole Justice quest. He jumps down your throat for wanting to know whats going on with the whole potion thing. He lies to you about what his plans are (blowing up the Chantry).

Then, if you keep the romance going he goes on about how your children shall be raised in a world where mages will know freedom, and Hawke goes along with it. At that point I understood why Cassandra would have a less than rosy image of Hawke. She and Anders are sodding bonkers and need to be stopped.

That's completely true.

Oh man, I hate that so much. My Hawke kept pressing him to tell her what his plans were, because she's more than a little worried about the guy. And just because you don't immediately tell him you'll help him, he instantly goes all "Oh, do you don't actually care about the mages then? Some friend you are." I wanted to freaking punch him right there. <_<

Its one thing if Hawke is just friends with Anders, but with Hawke as his partner saying that you don't care is a low blow. I was hoping for a line where Hawke could express more anger than just "I'll do it, but I'll remember that you blackmailed me."

But I digress, this is Fenris' thread.

After hearing the banter between an unromanced Fenris and Isabela I'd sort of like to see what an expanded relationship between the two of them would be like. I'm picturing something along the lines of Mal and Inara from Firefly.

Post Act 2

Fenris: (seeing Isabela in her spot in the Hanged Man) You returned.

Isabela: I did, what of it?

Fenris: I thought that you'd have left for good after that business with the Tome.

Isabela: Well, someone needs to keep our fearless leader on his toes, and I don't know how I'd make it through the day without this rat-flavored whiskey.

Fenris: Its good to have you here.

Isabela: Its good to be here. I'll see you later?

Fenris: (sighs) You're insatiable.

Isabela: Its all apart of my charm sweet thing. (kisses Fenris on cheek)

Delurking for a bit. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before but I'm on my third playthrough and I just saw a hilarious Fenris scene.

I'm playing a more evil Hawke so I had her kill Javaris, that dwarven merchant who wants the qunari powder. After I killed him, the camera focused on Fenris who was shaking with his fist covering his mouth trying his hardest not to laugh.

I'm probably not that great at explaining but it was priceless, especially since I'm rivalmancing him.

hehehehehe~

very true. My first playthrough, I was completely set on Anders because, well, returning character and he was a cool kid in Awakening. Fenris comes along and I wa pretty much :o. Well, I figured I was gonna do 2nd playthrough anyways so I just stuck with Anders.

What an idiot I was.

LOL  Not an idiot.  I considered it briefly.  Now I'll only romance him when I stomp on him at the end.  I will totally have my character knife her lover (if I'm playing a b****, anyways).  I still need to rivalmance Fenris, too...>.>;

Anders, you are going to be waiting a while...

the ONLY reason why I didn't kill him on my 1st was I wanted to unlock my achievement for completing the romance. god...i really wanted to kill him. Really....wanted to...

I must be horrible. this run is another mage, rivalmancing Fen, but  she won't be patient enough to wait out three years. See I LIKE Anders, so I have nooooo trouble switching back and forth a bit.  This of course depends on how many more of my family members have died by then. I can't seem to get things in the right order >.< Fen and Katie were back together when Anders brought  up him leaving her.  I missed the Isabela one too, because they were doing their Ross and Rachel "on a break" thing.

If I don't at least screw with the romances the game ends the same every. single. time. I really expected more variations of the end. Kinda sad.

Yeah, Anders' romance left a bitter taste in my mouth. Especially because at the end, you knew he was basically stark raving mad thanks to Justice. The way he just sat on that box after he blew up the Chantry, just...waiting.... That is not the sign of a sane individual.

Where-as Fenris you know has problems, but he's always been trying to let them go. Danarius just refuses to let him do that. Until, of course, it all comes to a head and you help Fen kill him. He's able to move on after that. You can tell. Because he has Hawke.

Okay, we know the Red Kryptonite Lyrium is bad. But what, exactly, is it?? It makes people go bat-sh*t insane, the Codex on the Primeval Thaig states that, we see it in Bartrand and Meredith. But what is it???

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought so. Accepting what he did is kind of accepting an act by a not so sane person. I love him but I know he was not entirely in his right mind. Which is where the bitter after taste for me is.

And Fenris has puppy eyes! Who could deny my grumpy elf anything? Not my Lady Hawke!

I understand some of Anders' reasoning, but...really, only the Templars in Kirkwall were that...oppressive...Fereldan's Circle was...all rainbows and fluffy kitties compared to Kirkwall.

Yes, he has puppy eyes!! Love those eyes!

That's very important.

As much as Anders say they don't have conversations in his head, they had to be, or else why would he say "Justice does not approve my obession of you", you know? Does he just know? Either way, looking at the way he was in Awakening and DA2, yeah, whatever, the guy is crazy. What's worst is that when you're romancing him and he's just sitting on that box, not looking at you because of...guilt? my thought was really "look at me~! you're a man! you did what you did so look at me since you pretty much made me your accomplice!"

Fenris, like you guys said, is very much aware of his problem and is trying to let go...but how does a guy let stuff go when that's technically all that he knows? :crying:

Personally, I think it's a strip of cloth from the red curtains on the bed.

It's Hawke's favor, a scarf. It shows the tie between Hawke and Fenris.

Do all the other romances have the tie then when you choose them?

BWAHAHAHHHAHAHA i like the curtain theory but yeah...I think it just signify he's taken. could be a Trevinter thing? I mean that crest on his belt means pretty much the same thing

Is it just me, or do all the romances in da2 have the potential to turn out really tragically?

Isobela can be turned over to the Qunari.

Anders can be killed after he explodes the chantry.

Fenris can be given to Danerius.

Merrils whole clan can be killed.

When you think about it, this game is kind of depressing.

well...they're ALL messed up compare to the options we get in DA:O. It's better this way, more attached and emotionally invested in this. Like...I think I'm more OHMYGODFENRIS that I was with Alistair

Strange, he didn't get fussy with me when I asked him a million questions as friend or romance.

Also my first mage wasn't "bonkers" at all. And really neither is Anders, he's posessed. But my first mage Hawke was so fed up with everything in Kirkwall, the anti mage sentiment, the things those templars got away with ("they lock us in our rooms and ask things of us"...UYGH!) like Alrik making them tranquil after harrowings.  The Grand Cleric that as awesome as she was just couldn't help (I think she knew what was coming and was at peace with it myself). She believed that they mages turned to blood magic out of desperation. Not sure how this mage is going to work. But Anders lives, because I won't let him be a martyr. He needs to live to see what he's done. And as a romance, she just wants to get him somewhere safe and try like heck to get rid of that Justice dude.

Of course being my first playthrough Fenris turned on her and wouldn't return >.< So I'm going to have to replay that one I guess.

I heard he doesn't, but vice versa, not so much. So possibly during the year pause if you flirt with anyone else Fenris won't like it...anyone can confirm that for me?

Also, what is it like rival-romancing him Anders and Fenris? can anyone tell me? I went straight the friendmancing thing so that all I would get would be lovy dovy sweet stuff<3

No, nothing changes what he did at the end. The story would pretty much suck if it did. My next playthrough, probably  a warrior with templar sensibilities will likely rivamance Anders. Then I guess I'm done since apparently the game only has one epilogue. Kinda bummed about that.

That's really lame. that's when I think Warden is much cooler than the Champion, but romance-wise Champion's is much more heartwreching. As much as I like Alistair, give me Fenris all the way~

Yeah, at least with Alistair the romance itself had several different endings. O course there does seem to be a 3 year gap in the story. Templars vs Mage is 7 years, the game is supposed to be 10. So maybe we get DLC to find out what happened those last 3 years.

I think the gap is a bit...ridiculous. The curiousity in me is screaming "WHAT HAPPENED DURING THOSE GAPS??" Varric's "here's what happened between the circle and the templers and the arishok" is not enough, I want to know what exactly went on with my companions, and ME during those gaps.

Plus, with Fenris, those 3 years gaps are pretty much awkward I'm sure and I want to see that. Slept with a guy that you know has feelings for you but left you hanging, and no one brings it up during the 3 years...I don't know, I just want to see how that interaction went, since I'm sure having left things out ambiguously is something I wanna sit down and watch
