But, IMO it seems kinda far fetched that Fenris (or any companion really) would let himself get kidnapped.
I know! He totally has heart-ripping abilities but gets picked up by some templars? Doesn't add up. But I'm like you and think it's totally worth letting your sibling die to see a reunited scene. XD

Okay, could I chime in with a gentle request that people not engage in Anders bashing in this thread? I happen to love both characters and both romances and I'm not down with this 'my character is awesome and yours sucks' line that is being drawn. It's completely unnecessary and uncomfortable.
I was going to leave a comment regarding this. I decided to be polite instead.
Until a Moderator says to stop, I will garuntee you that people will continue. Also, I've never heard anyone say that "my character is awesome and yours sucks". Just that Fenris is a better character than Anders and since they technically belong to both no one and everyone, I fail to see how that should make you uncomfortable.
To quote Varric: "Opinions are like testicles. Kick them hard enough and it doesn't matter how many you have."
EDIT: And before this gets all heavy, etc, I'm dropping this line of conversation. On to more pleasant thoughts, like where all those nice lyrium tattoos lead...

Blood magic was involved, but Fenris does take down four of his would-be kidnappers while they're trying to take him. Fenris FTW XD One bad-ass glow-elf.

I requested that 5 pages ago.
I happened to like Anders a lot as well. And for that I can never killed him.

It was 4 men leveled to the point of a high dragon --- 3 of them got ko'd and the 4th got really lucky.

Err if my last post was taken as Anders Bashing (and since it's the only post calling him an idiot in the last several...let me point out he's only an idiot for THAT character's RP purposes,)it is most definitely not. I've said numerous times I love both of them, and I'm romancing both of them as both friends and rivals. I was actually going to switch to Anders on this playthrough but can't do it.

After what he did, there are going to be very strong feelings about him. I've not seen anyone really bashing him beyond ardently disagreeing with what he did, and frankly, that kind of reaction is perfectly normal. I liked him...before he became increasingly unhinged. I don't hate Anders. I hate what he let his hatred mold him into. I wish nothing more than that I could somehow 'save' him, stop what he did, free him from Vengeance. But, he was consumed by it, and as much as anyone tries to say that the Chantry is bad or wasn't working, what he did was an act of terrorism. That tends to make people start to look negatively at a character.
I haven't really seen any active bashing, but then again I've only been kind of skimming pages between waiting on a boss I need to pop up on Rift. But you cannot sensibly expect people to not view him negatively and express that opinion. Just like I don't act surprised that people react negatively to Fenris for how he views mages, or how mean he is to Merril after her quest.

Is Gideon Emery in that? I keep hearing about that show, but I think we tried to watch it and kicked it to the curb. But if Fenris is in it...!Dunhart wrote...

I'm replaying my blood mage (am I ever going to be able to play anything but a mage?? doubtful) and she had Fenris at 100 rivalry just after the Deep Roads. Those two must be so horny by now. I can imagine the backtalk as they're sniping at each other throughout all the missions. "Will you two just shag for Andraste's sake." Probably Isabela.

to TS2Aggie: Well...I know where you're coming from, I really do, however this is a thread about Fenris, so unfortunately there's going to be some 'comparisons'. I haven't looked at Anders's thread comment to comment, but I'm sure there are comparisons there.
And so far, as far as I can tell, most people that are disappointed Anders have romanced him, I for one have. It is because I have, the way his part of the story ended with sucha strong emotion, it'd be hard to refrain people from diss him to a certain exptent. Anders has left a bad taste in my mouth, and unfortunately, one unreasonable action can change another person's perspective completely.
To Tealsie: I don't think it's bashing. Bashing would be stuff like "he's ugly, he's stupid, he's unreasonable and whiny and etc etc", right? At least that's what I think. I may have done that here and there and...he stabbed me hardcore in the back, it's an open wound, and it's the only way I can heal LOL~!

Off topic: It bothered me when I played as a mage (second playthough) but after thinking about it for a while I'm happy about it, in a way. In Origins I only finished one playthough as a mage becasue human mage would be related to Hawke. I got bored after just a few hours because mages were so overpowered it stopped being fun for me. If people would have a reaction to the player being a mage (templars and such) I feel like mages would once again be overpowered but on a story level now, which in my eyes would be worse.
My twisted view on the matter.

I think it's covered under what he says when you come back from the Fade, if he betrays you there- "you are strong, but not everyone is." That interaction after Hadriana, where he says "magic spoils everything it touches" is pretty powerful. Hawke gives him this look which to me looks like hurt, and he seems to realize what he's saying then, as though he was spouting a platitude but has to come to terms with Hawke upsetting his worldview.Nerana wrote...
Pfft, strange. Or well, I guess the developers can't expect everything.
I can't see Fenris approve much of Hawke being a blood mage.

Actually I think we hide that. I just got to Vincento, and where he tries to bluff that he has no idea about Feynriel, if you choose the "star" option (special) you get a glowy hand and show you are a mage and he opens up.

@Yellow Words, I almost always playing as a mage. In all my Origin/Awakening playthroughs, I only played as rogue twice, once as Couland and once as Dalish.
Hehe, I'm the other way around. I have to force myself to play as anything else but a rogue.
