Alas.

As for talking about it. Hawke can try to do it right before he leaves. That doesn't mean Hawke tried again ( doesn't mean Hawke didn't either).

Still 3 years at a stalement? It just strikes me as off.

Then again it's not as strange as Anders holding a torch for Hawke for six years.

So for those of you who played as a mage - and I am getting the impression there are a lot of you - is it difficult to find armor upgrades and stuff, or do you pick a lot of it up? I don't know if your loot depends on your class or not. I played as a rogue - and loved it - but it seemed like there was almost no mage stuff anywhere! I am thinking of stating a new game as a mage, but I want to make sure I will be able to keep my weapons and armor up...

I didn´t find any mage upgrades on Fenris, if that´s what you mean. I searched thoroughly. :P

No I mean for Hawke. Regular armor and weapons. You know? Am I not making sense? Sorry.

I know what you meant, i was just making fun of you, because this is the Fenris thread... ;)

Oh sorry. It was just a side question.

Well, here are mage armor sets... As for staves... just keep checking the shops, do side quests(like if you do Forbidden Knowledge, you get a pretty good staff, if you can defeat the demon and its hordes).

I have to admit the "ooh I gained my memories back only for a sec!" thing made me ugh. Felt cheesy to me. I was hoping for something like Zev's relationship where it is casual at first.

Alas.

I don't think it is at all.  Sense memory is powerful.  A smell, a touch, can bring on strong reactions.

Which is why it's personal preference.

As for touch and smell he apparently doesn't have that issue with Isabela. Maybe Hawke's extra bad or something.

Well casual relationships are a turn off to me, and I never would've managed to finish the thing. I don't 'do' casual. Didn't really even start looking for boyfriends until I'd hit the point in my life that I was ready and prepared for marriage. I see no point going into something knowing from the outset that you don't care if it goes anywhere longterm. It feels too much like making some poor man into a disposable commodity.

I'd rather have my Hawke getting involved with someone she was serious about from the outset, and find it nice that he felt equally moved by it, because to be quite frank, I expected a casual-pull that would've sent me to reload-early-enough-to-romance-Seb land. (Since any flirting breaks his, or something?) The fact that he took it so seriously was a pleasant surprise for me. Game has enough casual in Isabella. I'd never be able to romance her with my maleHawke because of how she views that sort of thing.

Except nothing about Fen's relationship up till that point struck me as anything more than casual. You flirt with him sure but hawke makes no mention of love and neither does Fen from what I can recall. I didn't really feel like I was in a relationship. I felt like we were two people who found each other attractive (and insufferable due to rivalrymance) Even the love scene seemed more spur of the moment.

That's fine. Personal preferences and all. I could've gone for a little more casual though. Izzy was a litle too casual. I don't mind hooking up but no thanks. And Anders wants to move in 3 secs later. Not that I can resist.

Scene cuts to Varric and Cassandra:

Varric: What?

Cassandra: Really?

Varric: What? Can't a man take a little artistic license?

Cassandra: It sounds like a poorly wrought cliche.

Varric: Madame, your words cut me to my core! I am simply relaying the Champion's story as it actually happened. Just as you asked.

Cassandra: (rolls eyes) Of course you are.

Well, we first have to remember Fenris isn't exactly normal in the emotion department. He has been a slave for nearly all his life. With sides of torment and life endangerment, he cannot cope with the unfamiliar well. So, all this memory flooding freaks him out and partially puts the blame on the relationship. He honestly is afraid. He wants Hawke and yet he is skittish of their first real encounter. Feelings confusing the **** out of him. I cannot find blame in him. He hardly understands how to interact with people let alone with a lover.

3 years seems like a long time. But, plot before minor character development. I am sure Hawke tried to bring it up times before, with Fenris not wanting to discuss it further. If Hawke truly loved Fenris, he/she would have dropped it. Would you nag your dear one to death?

I understand this. I'm not finding fault with his actions. But with Hawke's in particular with my Hawkes. My Hawke's wouldn't have sat on their hands for three years no matter how ugly or nasty it got. They would've wanted to know one way or the other.

Uh...if Hawke truly loved Fenris he/she could've still wanted an answer. Loving someone doesn't mean cowtoing to them or never questioning them.

As for "nagging" wanting to know where one stands is nagging?

Granted most of this is in fact personal preference, and alternate roleplaying so arguing it will get us nowhere but what the hell I'm bored. ^_^

Three years is a long time especially for a male. Because you know it can get a bit uncomfortable at times:whistle: My male Hawke has new found respect for Sebastian and probably asked him for some advice on how to keep those urges at bay. My Hawke mastered the art of handmancing in those three years. And just think about it. Both Fenris and Hawke are holding out for three years. Can you imagine what it was like when they finally did the deed. The Hawke Estate probably shook the whole city of Kirkwall. :wub:Someone needs to draw this.

I know it seemed casual at the start, that's why I told myself to keep on it until the love scene. I would decide at that point, from his reaction, what I wanted to do about it. My Hawke was serious, but Fenris was harder to read. Once it became clear he was quite serious as well, I was fine with it. If he'd not been, I would've backtracked the saves, or whatever. Call it metagaming if you like (which I suppose it is) but I just wouldn't be interested anymore. And to be honest, might have given up on any romances, since Seb's lacks any real finality and Anders is off his chain.

He says he's never let anyone get close to him, and has never met a woman like Hawke.  That's pretty intense, especially for the fact that he's not all flirty chatty.

Fenris is a tortured soul, he was abused in so many ways (sexual abuse was implied) that it´s very believable that it´s hard to get to him. But i think he developes wondefully in freedom, he learns to read and forms friendships, like playing cards with Avelines husband. And i think he even says "i love you" at the end of the game when you talk to your companions for the last time.

He is definately the better male romance option when compared to Anders, if you like a remote chance of ongoing happiness.

He flirts just fine with Izzy.

As for never met someone similar I give it that. That doesn't make them in an exclusive reationship seeing as I'm pretty certain he says it to a friend as well.

Metagamer :P

I kid I do it to.

But RP wise my Hawke wasn't overly serious. So when he kind of backtracked I was a bit confused myself.

Personal preference strikes once again.

Defintely shouldn't be used when it comes to personal taste.

I believe she mentions something catching what she wants and he replies "I might try to get caught" or something similar.

Bah. I need to now recruit her again.

They flirt quite a bit.

As much as I am curious of what happened during the time skips, I do not think everyone would want to do something so minor. My Hawke and your Hawke will take the matter differently, but its a game. We cannot do everything we want. Sometimes we gotta give way for a more convenient method.

Loving someone also means giving space. Clearly, Fenris was distraught about this. He is not someone you can prod. It isn't like with the other companions, who could discuss their feelings with the Champion. Fenris was always different. You cannot really speak to him in such a deep amtter unless you were REALLY close. At that point, Fenris is confused so he is unsure.

As long as we both can oogle at Fenris at the end of the day, we are friends by interest.

you can't rely on drops like rogues and warriors. if you really want good stuff, you have to buy them, money is not an issue in this game so I didn't hesitate with buying anything if I find them useful

in BE, there's a staff there called The Final Thought, best staff I've come across. Cost me 159 soverigns and some change though I believe,

Please don't try to tell me what love is. I find myself feeling like I'm being patronized. There are many different kinds of love. One shouldn't try to pigeonhole them.

As for prodding. That's all well and good except for the fact that Hawke can prod him many other times.
