I think the neck-biting is a glitch-- I noticed that just before you trigger the glowing one (only did one rivalmance and saved immediately after, not thinking to check the other), when Fenris is turning away, he seems to sink into the floor slightly. His head is then stuck to the side when he shoves Hawke into the wall.

Oh wait... I hope I didn't crush fangirl dreams...

Well... that's what FanFiction is for.

No, it's not a glitch I don't think because he turns his head at the end and they're looking into each other's eyes.  Also, it happens with both kisses.  It's not likely that two separate cutscenes are going to have the same glitch.  Also, his facial expression fits (what, I'm a modder -- I have to watch the cutscenes closely for when the toolset comes out!).

Plus, the neck biting happens after they kiss on the mouth.  He turns his head.

NECK BITING?!

I edited, but I'll put it here.  Looking at it more closely, his head may be stuck at the start (or he's deliberately not looking into her eyes -- hard to say the animater's intent).  But by the time the neck biting happens, his head is definitely not stuck.

Edit: And the neck biting also happens in the non-glowy kiss, and he is definitely not glitched there.  I have a video up, but it is  too dark to see.  I'll put up a lighter one one of these days.

Second edit: No, he definitely looks into her eyes at the end of the kiss, so his head does move.  So yes, I say neck biting is happening in both kisses ;)

Quick question: in certain angles it looks like those lines of lyrium going up Fenris's neck extend up the outer line of his ears.  Can anyone else see this?  And does anyone else find it as erotic as I do?  The pointed ears alone send me to my bunk more often than I thought possible.  Image IPB

Yes, they do. <3

No thats NOt Bela, it's my mage. If Anders and Aveline can paint each others toenails, Bela and Kathryn can have hair/piercing parties too.

Here is the rivalry version of the post-Hadriana talk.  I did pick the aggressive options, but it illustrates a good clash doing it that way.  No abuse there.  Just... two people who challenge each other and who want each other despite themselves.

Edit: But it will be a long time.  WHY is youtube so slow on uploads?

Do you compress them?

Oddly enough, I noticed the disconnected 'neck bite' sort of turn, but only on Youtube, and only with rivalmance (which I think is just a coincidence, though I've done friendmance twice and never had that turn away mid smooch)

Wow, I need to do an aggressive Fenris rivalmance.

I like it when he gets riled up, I think it makes sense considering what he's been through. Plus he's got a nice angry voice. ::clears throat::

It happens with both rivalmance sexytime kisses, which is why I think it's not a glitch.  Espcially the non-glowy one that definitely starts on the mouth, but ends up with the neck biting.  However, it really is not THAT big a deal.  I thought it was a nice touch that the rival kisses were slightly different (if we ever get a toolset, we'll know for sure if they're supposed to be different!).

Trust me, words can be violent. I was harassed all throughout middle and high school, in a way that was meant to be destructive and harmful. So, yes, even simple sniping at each other verbally can be violent.

I didn't say words couldn't be hurtful, I said I didn't think that was the case in the rivalmance.

EDIT: @ejoslin: Right, I assume it's a bit more volatile with the aggressive options, like I said, it depends on the case. I went rivalry but always chose diplomatic options, so there was a lot of calmer disagreement than anything hateful.

I sometimes went diplomatic, sometimes aggressive, but really, I think you can totally justify being aggressive with him at certain points.  Varric is right- he does brood, and he's a hypocrite and sometimes mean.  Soft words may soothe the savage beast, but what can I say, my Hawke gives as she gets.  lol

I really do love this scene when it goes this way.  The whole thing takes on a new dimension.

@addai With Fenris and the rivalmance, it does make sense to often be tough on him, to disagree with him (especially my mages), and to challenge him.  It is just a completely different feeling relationship.  Both romances are awesome, but if I'm going to be sweet and nice to him, it will end up a friendmance, and my Hawkes are not always sweet and nice people.

I made a "good" character but am having trouble playing her. I hate her. lol What a freaking doormat. If I ever get through her game, she's going to be a friendmance since she's a lawful mage and sending every other mage willy nilly back to the Circle. So I think the rivalmance will always be my favorite.

I like how my Mage is turning out. She is fearful of magic and is willing to aid the templars with apostates. Her sympathy for mages is as deep as a puddle. Because of this view, she finds herself utterly alone. People fear her for her magical abilities. Mages hate her for her "betrayal". Her only comfort is found in a small band of misfits. Even then, she feels smaller than a mouse.

Heh, that sounds close to what I'm playing currently. Pro-Chantry/Templar, almost 100% diplomatic responses (even my previous mage joked a little) except when she's up against blood mages and demons, then it's full aggressive.

She's spec'd to full healer/support, I thought it an interesting character quirk that she refuses to use any magic that is offensive. Maybe she accidentally set Carver on fire as a kid and can't get past it, and that's why he hates her so much. :P

I just finished playing my primal force mage I was mostly aggressive when it called for it. I went the friend path with Fenris I mostly agreed with his views on magic. I ended up sideing with the mages both sides went to far so I picked the lesser evil. My Hawke he really just wanted to smash both the templars and the mages then run off with Fenris

So I want to do a friendship Fenris romance....is there a way to not be a jerk to mages and still get his friendship up?

In my rival-mance with Anders I was such an ass and Fenris loved me. lol

So I'm trying to rivalmance Fenris, I get back from the finishing the Black Powder Rebellion in Act 2 and Isabella jumps me, quite literally. Does this mean Fenris will not be romancable?

Go anti-slaver and you'll get friendship points. Don't take him with you during any mage quests where you want to support the mages, just take him along on ones with abominations or other really evil mages that will get you friendship points, and be really supportive of him during his own quests. Should work out.

Thanks so much! That sounds like a good plan. I have only done his rival-mance and I love it. It's sexy and passionate. But maybe he'll take a more sweet approach with a friendship path?

*sigh* I love Fenris.

I struggled the most with Fenris in Act 1 because the quests were more of a case by case basis and the gains kept backsliding, but Act 2 was a lot easier in getting friendship approval with Fenris. I didn't really find myself trying to side with anyone for the sake of friendship points. Just being nice to him + the romance + gifts went a long way in boosting friendship points, too. If you're unsure, you can look up the name of the quest in the wikipedia and see if there are comments about companion approval points to know what to expect with Fenris.

Yeah I'm restarting my mage because of this. God I'm tired of being NICE. She's not supposed to be all lawful and stuff. I swear I have some serious Origins habits going through. She does not believe in the chantry control over mages, not one little bit. Which yeah, I suppose makes her perfect for Anders but Fenris has her from his very exciting hello. So I need to rewind, I guess to act one right when they meet, and start being a sarcastic/aggressive rebellious wild child. give Carver better reason to be all fussy.

I'm so going slightly off-topic but...

My rivalmance with Fenris I did was with a classic, sarcastic, charming rogue. And I think I just found the perfect gif to describe it:

Oooh, not as off-topic as I thought.

He keeps friend zoning my mage at the end of the Bitter Pill quest. >E Time to run around and up his friendship status. Does it have to be at least 50% before he shows interest? I've also had my mage flirting with him and generally being supportive, hm.

Yeah for Fenris to start a romance with you you have to be at minimum 50% Friendship or Rivalry and you have to have flirted with him at least once prior to the scene where he shows up at your house.

Are you supposed to flirt with him during Questioning Beliefs? Because that doesn't come up until after I complete Bitter Pill.

EDIT: Blagh, never mind. Can't up his friendship status enough without him getting pissed that I haven't taken him to the hide out yet. I should have been more nice in the first act. Welp, guess this is a rivalmance with Anders for me this round.
