He's in Darktown in the abandoned mining tunnels when you start looking for your mother.  I didn't get a quest marker for him, had to search a bit.  But I also didn't get the glowy Fenris option.    Maybe because I was diplomatic with DuPuis earlier.  Oh, you should take Varric if you go to DuPuis to find your mother.

Curses!  Either my game bugged or I made the wrong dialog choices when DuPuis turned on me. <_<  I scowered Darktown afterwards and he's not there at all.

Is it possible for Fenris to not turn on your if your rivalry/friendship score is high enough in the Fade, or does it happen anyways?

In order for romancing both Anders and Fenris but turn down Anders at the mansion, will someone please confirm if the following is correct:

-flirt them both in act 1
-make sure their friendship is at 50%
-Do Fenris's questioning belief quest, then a bitter pill
-when Fenris comes over, dont pick 'Don't Go'
-do Justice quest, talk to Anders to get the kiss and the 'I'm coming over tonight' thing
-at this point I should get Anders asking me about Fenris and call him a beast, turn him down and
leave the mansion
-come back to mansion at night, Fenris will be there saying give him a reason to leave
-sexytime with Fenris

Is that correct?

No. The only ones who won't turn on you is Anders and whoever thats there that can be tempted by the same demon (I think there's another companion that won't turn on you, can't remember). So basically let's say if Varric and Fenris can be both tempted by the Pride Demon, only one of them will be tempted, so...take your pick. 50/50 chance

My quest with him went down that I believed him, let him go without templars following and talked him down once he met the actual killer mage. Then he was hanging around in darktown still.

It's possible to be a mage who thinks other mages should be in the circle, isn't it? And to be nice to Fenris in general. I haven't tried, but feels like it should work.

Yes. If you hate slavers, demons and blood magic. Not sure if you can reach 100 that way though. My first mage went to 100 easily because she was a hypocrite and hated other mages.

Soon done with act 2 on the second mage and Im only at 70 friendship or so, cause I'm nice to "normal" mages.

Also, in my experience if you take Merril her Pride demon scene will override others.

I think the person who doesn't turn on you is the one with the highest rating in your party.  First time with high friendship he was the only one who didn't turn on me.  2nd time someone else was higher-rated so he succumbed to the Pride demon.  I was prepared for it and had disarmed him in advance so the fight was easy.

You can increase the friendship or rivalry when you talk afterwards so it's worth doing.

I think it can be done quite easily. I played a mage, who was nice to other mages, even if she killed every blood mage she found. I almost managed to maximize the friendship, just be sure not to bring along him on mage-quests where you plan to let mages escape.

Yes! I've successfully romanced Fenris (finally) as a mage who mostly is on the side of letting mages escape (not blood mages though), but it took alot of trial and error on exactly which quests to have Fenris come along. I used Aveline alot more in this playthrough and the only time I advised a mage to return to the circle was during the Dissent quest. Fenris is at 100 Friendly   I'm in Act 3 now heading towards the end It took more effort on my part but it's been worth it

ETA: Just LOL'd at the number of smiley faces but can you tell I'm happy about achieving a 100 Friendly romance as a mage?

No, no.  I talked to him about Hawke's mother and he accompanied me to face wots-'is-name.  I couldn't find him afterward.  Unless the option is supposed to be there when I find him while searching for her, but it sounds like you can find him afterward and exact a little revenge for his involvement in Hawke's mother's death.  In which case, he was not back in Darktown afterwards on my playthrough.

Wayward Son, if you attack the slavers on sight  (or esp. use the "Fenris" option when you meet Danzig) and send Feynriel back the Circle, esp. if you call the boy a menace (Fen, you be off your rocker sometimes.  Good lord haha).  That's +20 Friendship right there, I'm pretty sure. 

Also Night Terrors (esp. if going for Max friendship), attack demons on sight, and be relatively understanding when Fenris falls prey to the (Pride?) demon (not sure about this, though, I played as sarcastic Hawke so different dialogue options may get you different results.)  The Dragon Age wiki is a good place to look for more.   

Also, ridiculously easy Friendship points involve doing any of Merrill's companion quests, and being as much of a ***** to her as possible.  Refuse to help her, tell her you won't visit her, especially denounce blood magic...and you and Fenris will be painting each other's toenails by mid-Act 2.
