Earlier today, a fellow group member (thanks, inclemency!) pointed out that she took too long to get around to "A Bitter Pill" and ended up triggering an encounter called "Wrong Way." Basically Hadrianna tracks Fenris down instead and after wiping them out, Fenris turns in anger to Hawke and issues a "help me NOW or I'm leaving" ultimanium.  I checked it out and uploaded a video for this thread with all three possible responses. Rivalry gains range from +5 to +20.



(I had looked on youtube and couldn't find a video to watch, hence the upload here.)

Just curious, does he leave the party permanently if you choose not to help him here?  Not sure if anyone of us would know, this, though.  I dunno if I'd ever pick it.  Maybe on my 20th playthrough or something.  But probably not. 

That "May our paths not cross again, Hawke."  Was hard to listen to.

He's gone for good. He no longer appears in the companion selection screen after this. He's not grayed out like he's dead. He's just completely gone.



The codex didn't say anything to reflect his departure, but I imagine I'd actually have to keep playing through the Qunari conflict and get into Act 3 to see if it ever updates at all. =p

Edit: I went ahead and finished the Qunari conflict (mainly wanted to see what happened if I gave Isabela up to the Arishok). Neither Fenris or Isabela's codex updated after the Deep Roads entry.

Wow, I never knew there was an extra scene with A Bitter Pill. I guess I was just too excited at the prospect of a Fenris quest that it never occurred to me to not do it absolutely right away first thing.

If I had the ability to draw quickly(and actually have things turn out somewhat decent), I'd draw Fenris and Hawke sitting cross-legged on the floor in front of Hawke's fireplace, looking very proper as they sip tea and eat toast, with a glorious feather boa about Fen's neck.
And he will look completely serious.
