@Helen0rz...boyfriend not liking it much might be better than my husband's behavour. After enough eyerolling about Alistair to permanently affect his vision; he then had to subject me to 'I am yours' in an Elmer Fudd voice. Lol, that got stopped in its tracks very quickly! *shakes head*

Just to help whoever might have had my doubts regarding the slave Orana in A Bitter Pill.
After a few reloads, I noticed that what decides if you get friendly point or not, its the dialogue wheel before the one where you choose to give her money, leave her go, or take her as a slave/domestic.
Whenever I choose "I'm sorry" I had friendly points.
If I picked the middle option instead, something like "You are just a slave, they don't care about you", I didn't get any friendly points letting her go (with money or not).

I didn't know about some dialogue options for him, and I didn't know about his gift book. So his approval was not maxed. I was soooo heart broken to have to kill him . I cried seeing his body on the ground with my shield and wristband on him. :crying:

Problem is, I've romanced him in every playthrough before this.

Actually, it wasn't! Granted, I made one mistake during my first romance-attempt, but the second one was a breeze. I got him to full Friendship while being a pro-magi mage, without being a giant hypocrite and picking pro-templar options to score points. It's not that difficult, really.

@ the above: It's not hard. Most of his friendship/rivalry points seem to be from the Hawke/Fenris conversations.

Just be anti-blood magic/demons. You also could try and send every mage back to the circle, but I didn't and you make up any rivalry points pretty quick.(unless you're trying for a rivalmance. Then set every mage free. )
And the book is in act 2, in the alienage at night. Cute scene follows. Poor Fenris.

Fenris has a second sexytime I think -- his second kiss pans to the fire, which generally means more is going to happen.  And he has THE best kiss while saying goodbye before the final battle.

Be sympathetic towards him during conversations (again, this can be done without bashing mages), bring him with you to anything involving slavers (assuming you're anti-slaver), give him his gifts, flirt with him, anything.

And of course, playing a Hawke who has common sense helps;

I'm kind of glad we didn't get makeout sounds with Fenris.  It fit with Anders just to show his desperation and pent up emotions regarding Hawke.  However, I felt awkward.

Like ejosline said, that last kiss was pretty damn hot.

You'd get to hear what he has to say to a friend instead of a lover. His end speech is different. You'd be able to see what non-romancers see with Fenris and be able to determine how much their complaints about him is hyberbole. I had intended on maybe rivalmancing Fenris on my second game because I still had the euphoria from my first game lingering, but waited to make a move on anyone until Act 2. By then, I had experienced different scenes with Isabela and was completely charmed by her with her Fade apology. She's not intense or passionate like Fenris is and she's infuriating in her own way that you want to strangle her at times, but she's so d'awww with her wit and her vulnerability. I absolutely loved her and Aveline in my group and would rotate Merrill in for an all-girl group dynamic, listening to Merrill basically idolize Isabela from afar. While I think Fenris is the more exciting romance, the playthrough with Isabela is my absolute favorite so far because it was just a fun ride from start to end. It was neat to fight for my girl by not letting the Arishok have her.

I see a lot of debate about the awkwardness of Fenris leaving Hawke for three years, but Isabela does the same thing as well for different emotional reasons. I asked a friend if Anders did the same thing and she said he withdrew in his own way. No idea about Merrill, but it's definitely not unique to Fenris.

Er... no, that's really okay by me.  I'm fine with leaving moaning and makeout sounds to the imagination rather than awkward pixelation and having to picture the VA making love to a microphone.  Understated is better.

But no "makeout sounds" means the microphone is denied the attention. Think of the poor microphone.
