I'm so going to let my mage fall in battle after the romance to hear what Fenris says. It's a tad hard to hear with all the battle going around... I might leave Anders and Merrill out of it because their spells are LOUD. *crunchcruchBOOM*

I romanced Anders my second playthrough after she got dumped by Fenris (I wanted to see it) and spent all of act 3 wishing I could dump him for Fenris. Seriously, act three sucked with the banters (I got all the stomach-punch ones). Merrill giving him a hard time because he still loved Hawke, Fenris telling Anders to treat Hawke right or he'd kill him, listening to him and Isabela make plans for sex... God, that sucked. Good thing act 3 is short.

Edit: You know, I'm glad I did the first two playthroughs pretty much unspoiled.  But that Anders one really did hurt because of the banters.  I'm not sure if it's awful or good that a game can bring out those feelings.

I hated Anders' romance -- it is well written, and I see the appeal, but it struck a nerve with me and I was feeling suffocated and helpless.  Interesting how it made me feel.

I saw the banter and stuff on youtube.  I cannot do it.  I pretty much do separate playthroughs for Fenris and Anders.  Never to mix.  
I also never plan to put Isabela and Fenris in the same party when not romancing Fenris.  I cannot take that he has sex with her and yet always spazzes out when he sleeps with Hawke.  ARG.  I prefer to be blissfully unawares, LOL.

I will never have Bela in my party when not romancing either, since that particular banter only comes up if neither are romanced.

At least, that's what I've heard.

Hahahaha, my husband does NOT get dragon age at all. I tried to get him to play Origins (I figured he'd fall in love with Morrigan and quit teasing me about Zevran) but he couldn't get through the origins. He has no interest in DA2 either -- he's a FPS type person. He'll play games like FO3/NV and Bioshock, but nope, no BW games.

His reaction to Fenris was, "Oh god, another elf." He's hilarious. At least he hasn't started impersonating him like he did with Zevran for months (actually, he does a GREAT Zevran so I didn't mind too much).

Edit: I don't know if that banter comes up if neither is romanced, or if Fenris and Hawke had sexytime and then Hawke moved on and Bela isn't romanced.  I've never played a game where he just wasn't romanced at all.

It was unexpected, that banter, to say the least.  I seriously felt jealous!  I had been thinking after Merrill's banter that there was a chance of them getting back together and then heard that and was just, UUUUUUUGGGGGH!

If you have Fenris in your party, but not Aveline, and talked Gascard out of siding with his former master, then you can bump into him in Darktown again after dear old Hawkemum is dead and have Fenris hurt him lots.

Though, if you decide to kill him, it's Hawke and the murder knife...

ah poop, my hawke stabbed him...fen just tortured him...how do i get fen to do it completely?

Oh yes. Steve Valentine's voice makes Alistair, even if it is Gaider Awesomeness that wrote the character.

It's the same no matter what.  The biggest disappointment to me is it's the same even if Fenris and Hawke have everything resolved.

God, BW had to have women pick out their male VAs....or bi/gay guys....I don't think straight guys would pick out those voices....

Yeah...god, Iooking at videos and those banters happen in act 3, so lame I can't romance Anders now, still hurts from my first one. But you know, interesting that you brought up the Fenris protects you more after the smexy scene, last night I was...in sundermount I think and I had Femris with me. We were just killing and really, he came flying out of nowhere and did the finishing move on them. I'm on the xbox so I don't bother with tactics, never messed with that so I was surprised

That's actually exactly how my husband is . Only instead of Zev, its Alistair (I never COULD manage to romance Zev. Alistair is just to cute.) But, after doing almost nothing other then DA2 for the last three weeks he's seen the error of his ways, and picked up DA:O just for me.

I romanced Anders first, and I think I had a week straight of "Goddamnit anders, stop trying to dps and heal me!" out of him every single time I started talking . Then, I tried Fenris THX TO THIS THREAD, and now there's no going back for me.. and my husband has been having more fun waking me up in the middle of the night JUST to say "OH FENRIS".


He's a brat like that some times.

I just wish the smexy scenes were a bit more...elaborate you know - kinda expected them to move on from DAO ones, which - let's be honest - were a bit awkward.

I was never a Zevran person, I romanced him to get achievements and broke up with him. I felt bad about it because he took it so well :-/ im not an elf fangirl and Alistair's silly comments got me and my heart. Funny how that works, I'm a Fengirl now lol

I totally changed his tactics to attack anyone attacking my mage.  I didn't know it actually just happens.  That's kind of cool.  I mostly did it because my mage is well...a mage and mighty squishy.  But I have to admit I liked the protective aspect of it.

I admit I didn't think I would like Fenris at first, but he turned out to be a really interesting character.  And his romance is a gigantic win.

I'm pretty sure Fenris always ran to your side, even in Act 1.  He does it to any Hawke, romanced or not.  But I'll admit, I did the "Oh!  He's protecting me! <3"

I've taking a ton of battle screenshots, and he's always RIGHT THERE, and his sword is inevitably placed so it looks like he's about to slice me in half.
