Danarius says "so this is your new master/mistress."
I can't watch at work, but I remember Danarius saying that but I certainly don't remember Fenris implying that was true. If I recall (again I can't watch the video right now) after he says that you can tell him to p*ss off and that Fenris is no slave.

He doesn't. Actually, he seems to ignore that part completely. Only Hawke can say that Fenris belongs to no one, or the heartbreaking "take him" option.Badpie wrote...

I agree with you. It is very often for us to say 'you're mine', 'i belong to you' and things as such to our significant other, why should Fenris be excluded of that because it related to his past? He's saying it freely and willing with affection, no one forced him to say it.
Unfortunately he does have that 'I'm still a slave' mentality, and thats from years of abuse. It is the only thing he can remember other than the stuff that happened while he was with Hawke, how can anyone to expect him think anything else other than the only thing he knows? He's more free than we expected and yet even more tied down by his past than we know.
I higly doubt that He said he's Danrius's with such affection. A sentence with 2 sided meanings, but consider the only time I've gotten that line is after the reconciliation in Act 3, that's definitely him showing his affection and love to Hawke

Yeah, Hawke says 'He's not a slave' or 'He doesn't belong to anyone!' or something... pretty close to what you say in DAO in Zev/Taliesin meeting

Nah, he never says that. Hawke can reply "Fenris doesn't belong to anyone!" to which Danarius says "Do I detect a note of jealousy? I'm not surprised. The boy is rather skilled, isn't he?" and Fenris says "shut your mouth, Danarius!"Upsettingshorts wrote...

When does he do that?
I've only been told that he does. I believe that it is during the trap at the Hanged Man. Regardless whether or not he does, it isn't part of my argument anyway.
The options other than handing him over all go straight to combat.

Danarius was insulting Fenris the best way he knows how, and he hits the target with every word. By 'implying' Fenris is not a free man is like reminding him how worthless him is, which is why Hawke has the opportunity to stand up for him. I think Fenris knows he is a free man but he needs affirmation and the death of Danarius to prove that...kinda like confidence thing. Reassurance

Ha! I can't imagine Fenris would find that amusing in the least. I probably couldn't bring myself to take that option just like I don't even want to know what happens when you say "take him" to Danarius.

I started my third playthrough and just got to the part where Fenris rips out the slaver's heart in Bait and Switch, and I was just wondering -- what d'you guys think he was expecting to find in Anso's chest? He avoids the question when Hawke asks him if he was expecting something else. "I was, but I shouldn't have. It was bait, and nothing more." He never elaborates, does he?

Everything I've heard Fenris say is all about how he is no longer a slave. Whenever someone calls him a slave, he will reply, "I am NOT a slave." Often just before he crushes their heart. To what extent he believes this is up in the air, but there are even banters dealing with this (Sebastion comes to mind, crediting the maker for Fenris being a free man).
I think this is a case of what he says and what he truly believes and how they differ.

I've been wondering that too. Not a clue, though.
...Danarius, perhaps?
