Dr Doctor must be a secret writer for Bioware. Must be.

I thought becoming a Harvester gave Orsino character. Cause hell knows I honestly had no idea he existed until Act 3

Guys...I just thought of something, and I'm not sure if it's been discussed before in this thread:

do you think Fenris's silvery white hair is natural? or caused by lyrium?

traumatic events can turn your hair white.  the constant pain and torture he got while being Danarius' bodyguard was sufficient to be "traumatic".  it may also be the lyrium but i think its more the sheer stress.

judging by his eyebrows, i'd say he would naturally have been dark haired. brown, dark red, or maybe black. i suppose it could be white naturally, but i somehow doubt it.

I think the trauma from the branding turned it white, personally. And that it used to be black, as his eyebrows are black.

I liked Orsino, well until he became the giant monster thing. His voice was strangely relaxing too. Funny, because his VA was Captain Qwark in the Rachet and Clank games.

Also, here's a question. What do you suppose happened in the time between acts, things that wouldn't have been in the codex summaries?

Here's my guess:

Hightown Market, one month after the end of act 2

Fenris: Do you intend to walk around the whole of Kirkwall unarmed?

Hawke: The Arishok broke my staff with that huge sodding axe of his, remember?

Fenris: There's a supply closet in Danarius' mansion. Perhaps a broomhandle would be a suitable replacement.

Hawke: A staff is more than a stick Fenris. Maker, I loved that staff, it was a good staff, fried more thugs than half of the city guard. (sighs) Do you have any idea of how hard it is to find a staff that you really like?

Isabela: I know, I have the same problem. Wait, were we thinking about different things?

ROFLMAO!!  OMG, Isabella...

Hmmm, I hate posting things like this on people's pages, so I'll post it here.  Fenris actually does say he and Hawke broke up in a banter with Anders.  He says it's done, and that leaving was the hardest thing he's ever done.

But that has nothing to do wtih the story.  I really REALLY enjoyed it.  Thank you for sharing!

Edit: I dont' think that they stayed broken up for those three years either.  But that's my head canon since three years is just too long for the two of them to pine.  Plus...  you get some things in act 3 that can happen before Alone is completed that does make it sound like they're a couple again.

LOL  Glad you liked it.  I think that Varric heavily 'abridged' those six uneventful years to save time.  I couldn't imagine spending so long with an elephant that big sitting in the room...

Your eyebrows are the same color as your hair, right?

Fenris has black eyebrows but white hair. Clear indication that his hair was whitened during the process. I also want to point out the clearly different skin tone. Do we thank the marking process again or are they only half siblings?

as far as I know, unless you're hair is naturally black, chances are your eyebrows can be a shade lighter. but you're right though, on the hair color. His eyebrows are black so his hair must be dark. i failed.

Ah~! good point~! I didn't think of that. the lyrium tattoo is very traumatic after all.

I'm still curious about skin tones. The two have vastly different tones, to the point that I question his heritage. Genetics aside, it would be pretty damn weird that Bioware had intentionally made their skin tones vastly different. Why not the same if it wasn't a side effect of the branding?

I've never been a big fanfic person since for some reason, i tend to come across bad ones, horribly written ones and ones that takes all sorts of liberty with the story that tends to be a bit far fetched

but this one is not bad at all. I enjoyed it alot  bitterness inside Hawke, that's how I would've partially feel if I was Hawke

Nah, I think Varania was just another elf cookie cutter. compare her and the elf girl you encounter in the Holding Cave, the only difference was the hair/eye/make up/clothes color really. they took time out on the texture of Fenris's skin and skin tones (and perhaps to show that he hasn't had a good life?) but they didn't with Varania's since her character is so minor and the appearance is only a few mins (though I say her lines played a crucial part on Fenris's back story)

I thought her pale skin tone was because of makeup, actually.

Fenris seems like his skin where exposed tans easily.  Being the bamf warrior that he is, outside and on the run a lot, maybe that's why he's darker?(Plus art wise, if he was lighter in tone, it'd be harder to see the tattoos, right?)

His sister though, if she's trying to fit into Magister society, seems like she's wearing a bit to much white powder on her face.  I dunno.  Or they could be half siblings.  Different fathers?

I think one of two things happened. Either they didn't give enough thought to her design to purposely make her look similar to Fenris, or, her skin is corpse-pallid because she's been doing a ton of blood magic.

All logical reasons. Still though, I am a stubborn ****. You'd think if they were siblings, they would design her to be at least somewhat similar to Fenris. I hardly see a resemblance.

Their skin tones were kinda off. I tried to justify it in my head as Fenris is just tanned from being outside so often, whereas his sister could've just stayed indoors to try to get fashionable "fair" skin. Still, that's pushing it, passing off Fenris as white is really a stretch.

These are my kids.  My son has his father's coloring (more olive toned skin), my daughter has my fairer skin.  When he get's older (and more sun), he'll probably tan quite a bit like his daddy.  My daughter might tan a little, but she'll never get as dark as her brother.  Also, he's got the black hair his father has and she had my red hair.

I can still tell they are blood related. I never got that impression with Fenris.

But hey. This just furthers my glorious belief that Zevran and Fenris are half brothers.

I always thought they looked similar, with the facial structure and everything. Maybe it's the colors and how Fenris appears more weathered that throws the whole thing off?

LOL  Those two don't actually look that similar anymore.  This was taken two years ago.  His face is more similar in structure to my own, and my daughter's is very similar to my hubby's.  Kids are a composite, which is why they look similar.

Varania...I remember seeing her and going 'WTF?  THAT'S his sister?'  Then, after thinking about it, I could almost see it.  I know grown siblings who look NOTHING alike.  It's likely that they didn't want to create a new character model for a character who only get's five minutes of fame, so she got stuck with a 'default model', and they randomly picked her hair color and skin tone.  :P

DemonSaya, your kids are cute! BIG HUGE SMILES!!!

Ultipup, I think they just didn't bother with a proper design when it comes to Varania. They dont have to look alike, but Varania just looks like another cookie cutter elf in the Alienage.

Maybe its her pale "what is this thing called a sun?" skin that makes me want to throw her away.

Yes, their big huge smiles come with their big huge mouths...>.>  They are cute, tho...and they know it.  I just wish there was a volume knob for when mommy's feeling grumpy...
