Guys, did you see that thread in one of the forums about how Bioware has neglected the straight male demographics in DA2? The whole ordeal is on Joystiq (big gaming blog) now. I reply to the thread a while back, that thread kinda urked me with his straight male oriented mindset and how uncomfortable he is when his mhawke gets hit on by Anders. Ugh

ugh god, or if your driving and there's a nice breeze so you have your window down and they holler at you from the side of the road or another car at a red light. i keep my window up all the time now <_<

As a woman, if I get an unwanted come-on, I put the nix-hammer on it right away. Problem solved. I guess many men can't handle it well if they are the object of unwanted attention. That seems especially true for straight males.

I'm as straight as they come, but that's not tattooed on my forehead. So yes, I've been on the receiving end of advances from other women a few times, but all it needed was a "no, thank you, I'm not interested." and all was well. I've never even gave it a second thought, led alone brood about it, or let it bother me in any way, shape, or form.

What I really can't understand about this is...

How can it be that:
"Having to click an option with a HEART on it" = "being hit"?

Their mHawke isn't being hit if they don't click the heart. There's nothing homosexual if they don't select that option. They're not special for getting that option nor are doing anything special to get the heart there.

I think I came across one or two of those threads the other day. It annoyed the heck out of me, especially since it seemed there was a bit to much being said without any real backing up.

That threads being going on for a while, a few peoples comments disgusted me, one went along the line of.

"Bioware should have said that they made all LI's bisexual, I wouldnt have paid $40 if I knew that" saying how people shouldnt play for having bisexual tendencies in a medium.

another was like how he couldnt play due to him knowing that someone else would be romancing the male LI's as a male hawke,

Why would you even think about that?! A lot of them have some issues.

Well actually, Anders will hit on Hawke if you don't choose any of those options.  I can understand why some guys might feel a bit uncomfortable, but it's still not worth making a big issue out of it.  You tell him you're not interested, get a few rivalry points, and move on.  I've heard some saying they feel "forced" and that's absolutely bull****.  They're no more forced than they would be in the real world if a gay man took a fancy to them and decided to test the waters. <_<

Well apparently DG had to step in and I may have left the thread by then. The OP's argument made me mad, and bow he stereotype female gamers. I'm an RPG girl but I play shooters. I do halo, I do CoD, but you don't see me dissing other players with different taste in games with this 'holier than thou' attitude.

The gaming industry is already testosterone focused that it really annoys me when one little thing does not go with their straight male mentality. Seriously, it's not like the companions are gay, they're only that way if you play it that way. You can turn them down, you don't have to flirt.

And I didnt complain when ME2 gave the manly men Miranda, the perfect woman with that hot sex scene inthe engine room. Hell, there's even Jack. We girls got aliens. Aliens. I mean I like Thane and Garrus just fine, but you see my point. I think in the thread they even said something about te whole metro elf thing, which again, I thought why would it matter? Romance is such a mini plot and it's missable if that's what you want.

Those straight males with homophobic tendencies needs to just get over it.

Yes, exactly. I'm straight, but I've also been hit on by bi women. If I actually notice(I can be kinda dense when it comes to that), I usually thank them for the compliment, but inform them I am straight. I usually get pouts at that.

I say Fenris but only because he's the most human looking.  I romanced Thane in an ME2 playthrough and he's great and all but the fact remains that he looks like a frog.    Great character, oddly sexy, but I'll have to go with Fenris.
