if there's a mod to make alistair not ugly, i'd do it in a heart beat.

There are about five of those, obviously that's one of the first things people thought to mod. [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie]

.....
looks like I need to get the PC version PRONTO

Any of you Fengirls that are Alistair fans know that depending on your outcome was in DA:P (or the premade stuff) you can find Alistair in the Hanged Man drunk off his butt? Because I didn't, I just saw vids for that. made me sad

anyways. back to Fenris.

Alistair's appearance in DA2 isn't a problem for me. It surprised me, actually, to see that a lot of people were bothered by his looks.

Zevran, on the other hand....

Well, let's not get started on that. My poor, poor Warden. =(

I have problems with BOTH actually. very disappointed.

/quick aside

Whenever Fenris makes one of his random comments I feel like its the voice of the Maker. So deep and portentious. "This place is cursed" - well if it wasn't it should feel obliged to be now imho. If he told my Hawke it was her destiny to be a lute player, she'd probably start lessons. ;-)

It would probably give the Chantry a good scare if it turned out the Maker was an elf.

We're doomed if the Maker was a dwarf.

Did the "I am yours" from Fenris sound odd to anyone else?

I'm not talking about the fact that he says it, but the way he says it always struck me as odd.

He is saying factually. There is no question. He is your love slave.

Nothing struck me about I Am Yours. Aside from the massive desire to squee.

Another one of my late-night-inspired random questions, not sure if it's been brought up: Do we know how old Fenris is? Alternatively, does HE even know how old he is? If not, how old do y'all think he is?

No, no, and probably mid-upper 30s.  Because I like a Fenris that's older than Hawke  XD

Since we're discussing Fenris's old name, I have something interesting...

I was looking up more names from Greek mythology for my character and dog that I could pair off and...

Well...

I found this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leto

And I referenced a nice book I haven't touched in a while because it's about to fall apart because I used to read it so often... and that's accurate.

Leto was apparently the MOTHER of Apollo and Artemis.

*Dives under table before I get a shoe thrown at me*

When I first found out Fenris's old name was Leto I thought "Isn't that a woman's name?" My childhood was spent reading greek mythologies so I was very familiar with the name Leto lol. So when I read Dr. Doctor's post I thought it was referring to the fact that Leto is the mother of Artemis and Apollo, two very awesome archers. It fits! Sort of ...

Oh and ... hello :3 First post here (and on the forums at all, actually)

I finally got the Fenris kidnapping scene.  It was a lot different than playing it with Carver.  In that game I thought "well better go get him."  This time it was BASTARDS YOU DIE.  Heh.  Got a good video of my mage using blood magic to turn that harpy Grace into pulp.  Oh yes.

I was a little distracted by being met by Samson the former templar who has the same VA as Fenris.  I thought "okay honey, shoo and let me get to Gideon Emery's hot character plz."

I don't think there's any official word on his age. This thread has some speculation, but it seems all over the place.

I personally imagine him and Hawke to both be early-twenties at the start. I just assume since Carver and Bethany are (apparently) only 18, Hawke wouldn't be that much older than them, and I really do not see Fenris in his 30s at the beginning of the game and 40s later on. I imagine Anders to be the older of the two LIs just because he seemed older in Awakening, but that could have changed like everything else about him.

i have a train-of-thought about this actually.  my guesstimate is 27-32 at the time of Bait And Switch.

my reasoning?  when he competed for his tattoos, he must have been fit and very strong. like in the age group of 20-24.  old enough to win, strong enough to survive the ritual, young enough not to waste the investment.

thereafter he must have spent a FEW years as Danarius's bodyguard.  my guess is at least 4-5 years.  plenty of time to soak in the cruelty and learn lots of stuff from Danarius's bragging.  Then he escaped.  And as of Bait and Switch, it had been 3 years on the run.

thus, 27-32 as of Bait and Switch.  He certainly looks about that old.  but again, this is just a guesstimate.

My thought process would be that Danarius would want adolescents to compete, since they would grow into their abilities as opposed to someone in their prime who would only slip with age. Fenris is exceptionally skilled, I doubt even as a youth he would have had trouble impressing the magister.

It is harder to pinpoint an age range as elves and humans do age differently. Plus you tack on all the stress Fenris had to endure. So, you got the elven youth look but the stress age tack. I guess it evens itself out..

too young and you risk destroying further physical growth.  ideally you want someone in their peak so that you aren't hindering anything.  the ritual itself is very very damaging, so if done on someone too young it would kill them outright or prevent them from reaching full condition.

at least that's how i see it.

EDIT:  Elves and humans age the same in DA.  they used to be different but exposure to humans caused the elves to "quicken" and end up with the same lifespan as humans. thats why the Shemlen are "the quick children".

I don't think say, a 17 year old would be drastically more fragile than a 24 year old. That's just me, though. It just seems like Danarius is one of those evil genius types who would be thinking ahead, wanting the perfect clay for molding as opposed to something already crafted.

I'm all set up to do that this playthrough I'm going through now.  I'm a little eager to get to that point of the game simple so that I can crackheads.

I was a little distracted by being met by Samson the former templar who has the same VA as Fenris.  I thought "okay honey, shoo and let me get to Gideon Emery's hot character plz."

Oh I totally hear you there.  I was like that during the earlier part of the game when you first talk to Samson.  Reconciling that voice came from the same VA is really hard (but not hard like Justice hard).

17 is way too young for a male, if you ask me.  the ritual is a HUGE expense. you cannot risk it on a not-fully-developed individual who may not have the strength to survive. again, the ritual was extremely physically harmful and traumatising.  if fenris was that young it'd probably stunt any and all further growth he'd have, pretty much wasting the investment.

there's of course, something to support a younger variation.  the idea that a younger person would be able to cope better with foreign power.  but the mind wipe should have covered the whole "coping" thing as well.

but really does it matter if he's 30ish?  he's adorable either way.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. One good thing about not knowing his age is that every fan can have it however they like. :D

but yes.  open-endedness does leave things to the player's preference.  though i usually throw out my preferences and dig over every bit of lore i can find in the pursuit of the Truth.  because i... honestly have nothing better to do.

to me it just seems more logical to invest on someone stronger (older), rather than someone more flexible (younger).  But i am not Danarius.  and Danarius is crazy. and creepy. maybe he likes watching young boys fight while oiled up to glisten? i don't know.

Now now, Isabela could be fibbing. There is no evidence to suggest that Danarius slathered Fenris in sweet smelling oils.

Course, there is also no evidence against Hawke doing it.

I just checked the wikia for elves (Dragon Age elves) and it states that they 'quickened' from being exposed to humans and that they're 'mortal'. It never actually states that they age at the same rate as humans, and I think I recall hearing in Origins a mention that they age slightly slower. I could be wrong, however. It just states that whereas they used to be unaging and immortal, they now grow old and eventually die. Zathrien was such a big deal because he'd lived for 'several centuries', due to the curse he'd put on the werewolves, but for some reason I recall reading something about them still living slightly longer than humans.
