THE LOOK. Gah, so good. One of the top three moments in the game, IMO. The other two being the reconciliation talk and when Carver said he was proud of me.Miserysky wrote...
I feel like I'm confessing in a Fenris anonymous, but I've been around since this damn thread was born. I can't romance anyone else, even though I've gone in with all intention to do so. Every playthrough I have to romance Fenris and murder knife Anders. *sigh* It's starting to become an unhealthy obsession, I'm afraid! And by far, the best look in the whole game is in the Alone quest when you tell him "But I'm here for you" and he has that smoldering look. Kudos to Mr. Gaider and the art team! Or the rivalmance when he's like "you're going to be the death of me!!" Gah! Gotta go finish my second damn rogue playthrough.

It's all about quest order. If you do ''A Bitter Pill" before you do "Questioning Beliefs", you get two scenes with the last happening after you finally do 'Questioning Beliefs".
So angry wall omg you touch me! vs. Angry pace omg you I wants to touch you!
If you've done Questioning Beliefs then you can get both versions in the one game via a reload.
Flirt - Glowy Wall Shove + sex
Don't Flirt - Fenris leaves, comes back to Hawke Estate later, passionate kiss + non-glowy wall shove + sex
If you haven't done Questioning Beliefs, you don't get the flirt icon and never gte to see the glowy wall shove. Fenris will leave, and you get the 'Don't Flirt' scenario after QB has been done.

Oh wow.
Um... Ok... I think... I think I like that second one just a bit more now.
The pacing... the *stomp stomp stomp* right up to you? *meeeeeeeeeeeelt*
I mean, the other scene is good, but... I like this one more. The implications behind it are less reactionary and more... planned.
Eeeeeeeeee! *is so glad to have checked the thread*
Thank you thread!

On another note... Is it just me, or was the Fenris romance the only thing that made Act 3 bearable? I don't want to say it was bad per se, but it was just so darned depressing. Alone and the gooey Fenris reconciliation that followed kept me from just crying at what a Crap Sack World Kirkwall had become.

I like the whole idea of him making the conscious decision that he was gonna make a move and then coming over to her place.
I agree.
But I also think that it's cool to think of his thought process where he's did the wall push out of reflex and as soon as he did that, he realize what he had done and at that moment, whatever he was holding back could not be contained anymore. All was out at that every moment, it's very raw. i like it also

As much as I like the idea of Fenris being the one to pursue Hawke, I think it was easier on my Hawke that she made the move, considering how the night ended. She could feel a little guilt about pushing him when he wasn't ready.

I think that's what they renamed Kirkwall actually.
And yes. Knowing Fenris is there for Hawke really made it much more bearable. I make sure to do his stuff first. a) to make sure we're reconciled for the whole thing and

Ok sorry for the caps. But I had to say it. *fidget*
And I hear ya Aris. My first PT was an Andersmance and I seriously was DREADING the entire Act 3... with cause, it seems.
My second PT was the Fenrismance... and just... arg. It was so much easier to get through knowing that you and Fen will make up, he just needs time.

ngl, I like the glowy one more. I totally love the sentiment behind him coming to Hawke like that, do not get me wrong. But the glowy feels more genuine to me considering what happens after with Fenris leaving. Otherwise you are dealing with him showing up and then suddenly having a change of heart and running away after the bouncy fun times.
That said, I totally watch both scenes

I think act 3 has a lot of drama- the "impending doom" is thick- but it goes by so fast. I'm guessing they cut a lot of side quest type stuff. You just get the champion armor and then it's the final battle already.
I do wonder what things got cut we are going to end up seeing in DLC. Like the Celene stuff from RTO was originally supposed to be in DAO I thought?
Really, I'm just chomping at the bit for some DLC.

Both have their appeal. I wish I had gotten the glowy one as a surprise in game rather than hearing about it on the forum first- I'm sure I would have been shouting at the screen. It's so dramatic and... hot. But I do still like the other better. Like Badpie (lol at your name) said, it's Fenris coming to Hawke, and not Hawke mauling him after what was a very trying experience for him. The glowy scene does make his running out more understandable.Helen0rz wrote...

I would call Act 3 many things, but not black and white. That might have made it easy. It's more dark gray and... slightly darker gray.Miserysky wrote...
Yeah I agree, Aris. I always start act 3 by doing all the companion quests and saving Alone for last because it's just so amazing. Then I force myself to finish the act instead of just keep reloading. The All That Remains and Arishok fight in act 2 were just so well done that act 3 seemed so 2 dimensional in it's black and white nature. I wish we could have had a third choice, like mount an internal insurrection of Meridith through Cullen prior to the final fight.
My Anders romancing character was a chore to get through in Act 3. Such a downer.silentstephi wrote...

With Fenris it seemed like as dark and depressing as things got, at least she still had someone to support her. Even if she was doing something he thought was crazy like supporting the mages. :innocent:

I totally was just watching my screen openmouthed when it happened, I can admit that. I then immediately uploaded the fraps for my Andersmancing friends to watch.

I was *this* close to get it when Isabella ruined it all!
I must replay it being chast and pure but...
Gee, but I told her there were no feelings, why did she have to go telling about it all around?
¬¬
If only I wasn't busy with ME2 before I'd replay Act 2 again.
That said, this thread makes me want to play DA2 so bad!!
But from what you've guys said here and there, I think I'd still prefer the wall-pushing one, because it seems to have that "He's been thinking about Hawke and he hasn't been able to resist" feeling to it, and the thought of that just makes me squee!

It shows NPC initiative. I mean sure, you have been flirty, but I've had a PT where I've flirted with Isa (because she was a smarmy girl and was baiting the boys) and had no romance flag trigger and that just feels... awesome. Because your PC says things, the NPCs react, but they don't have react in predictable ways.
The appeal of the first scene was yea, I was thinking along a similar vein of "Oh hey, Fenris is here, why is he OH GOD KISSY TIMES YAY!" But that was because for the most part I kept myself spoiler free.
I miss when, in the BW games, you could just be the PC and the NPCs fell for you just by being that way and not because of 'do x thing to get y reaction.'
It feels a bit more organic to me. It's also why the face nomming Anders did was such a pleasant (and ngl, hot) way to go about their tragicmance.
But I'm glad they have the variety for different flavors of Hawke. Now if only they'd transcribe it to ME... and I'd be in heaven.
Edit:
What I guess this boils down to is yea, I'm a fan of ninja'mance.
Liara may have been all pouty that I'd go Kaidan or celebate (for Gar in game 2), but ninja mance... all the way.

I think the game tried to be grey, but in the end you made a black and white choice: Side with Orsino or side with Meredith. It's not even really about siding with mages or templars. There is no real diplomatic solution, or one where mages aren't presented as crazy lunatics (Orsino, Grace, Anders, DuPuis). I felt no real ambivalence for siding with the templars, even as a mage. Fenris is right. Mages are bad. I wish I could have made Orsino and Meredith fight each other while I drank a bottle of Danarius's wine.
I agree. I am awful when it comes to making choices... Both in-game and in real life. -___- In DA:O I was actually a mage sympathizer, but the events of DA2 are actually leading me to side more with the Templars, which I never would have guessed I would do when I began the game.
