Okay...Fenris returns (finally...*swoons*) and I'm just wondering...did anyone ELSE notice all of his tiger references? I've noticed two in act 1 so far. >.> Where are all these tigers he keeps talking about? (Okay, granted, both times the word is used in a more figurative way rather than literal, but still).

First time: Act 1-Asking why Fenris didn't run if he couldn't fight the slavers (before recruiting him), he says that one must eventually 'turn and face the tiger'.
Second time: Act 1-Merrill's mission after Hawke comments on the demon (the aggressive response) he says something like 'that's like staring at a tiger and thinking it wont bite you'.

These aren't direct quotes, but I found it entertaining, regardless.

Grace also drops a staff called The Tiger's Tail

SYMBOLISM!!!!

Suppose so  :P

Still, tho, if there are all these tigers running around Tevinter, sounds like a pretty dangerous place to live.  And I thought the bears in Ferelden were bad  :D  Now that I think about it, I've got bears where I live.  We get a few maulings in the city every year

So Fenris had to wrestle a few tigers now and then. No big deal...

If there are no tigers in Tevinter, it could be that they're in Seheron and he's just subconsciously remembering old sayings from when he (supposedly) grew up there?

Poor kicked puppy look.  Probably because he had to work up the courage to come to hawke only to be told it was a bad time, and so he never got the courage (or rather, confidence) up again~.

Fenris may be an ass, but I loved his character! Very Cool! Hope to see some DLC with more to do with him.

VERY similar smiles and jawlines, there.  Fenris's eyes and nose (duh) are a different, but I can totally see the smirk, there.

Hmm. Which do you guys think would be better, a DLC set during Fenris' escape (perhaps with the Fog Warriors), or one set before he gets the tattoos showing the person he used to be (maybe having the whole 'competition' he was apparently in, and then ending with the process)?

WOULD NOT CARE.  As long as Fenris was in the DLC, I would be a happy camper.  :innocent:

My wife was playing today and she hit upon something while we were talking about movies.   Specifically Ladyhawke.  Now in this movie for those of you who haven't seen it there are wolf and hawke who are in love.  Fenris means wolf or close enough and Hawke is actually named Hawke.  Eh? Eh?  Also the man who is the wolf (Naivar) is an utter badass character.  Matthew Broderick is also in the film.

The visual comparison between Fenris and Mr. Emery is quite striking.  I know that Disney animators often design characters after the voice actor, so I wonder if a little of that was done here.  I like Fenris's look, and to be honest I like the DA2 elf design.  They're unique, they have a racial look to them just as the dwarves and humans and others do.

I would prefer DLC of Fenris's escape and the fog warriors.  People showing him kindness and freedom for probably the first time he's ever known.  It would be very emotional to see how his stay with them ends, sadly, but I think designers and writers are great at that given the emotional impact of what's already in the game.

I agree.

I think Bioware models the characters after their VA's to a degree. I've seen alot of Bioware characters that had traits that resembled the VA's who voiced them.

I have seen the movie a long time ago and have heard people referencing it on the forums, but I never remembered enough about the plot to make this connection. But that is quite awesome.

I think I would prefer a DLC of his time before he left just because A, I'd like to see Tevinter, and B, I think we know a lot more about Fenris than we do about Leto, if he continues to have flashes of that life then I'd like to know more about that side of him.

I'd probably buy any Fenris DLC though. Just to hear his voice if nothing else. <3

I'd buy any Fenris DLC - or Sebastian for that matter - just for the voices!

As always, I'm late to the discussion. BUt hey, I was asleep when you guys talked about it.

I went into DA2 expecting to side with the mages pretty much in every playthrough, and in the first one I did. But I must say that siding with the templars is much easier than I thought I would be and I love BioWare for not making it the "bad" or "evil" choice. That you can side with either side without being a evil character.

It was also very interesting to see that Fenris stayed with Hawke, even though they were fighting for the mages. It just shows how strong love can be.

I need to do a playthrough siding with templars, I can see there is no good and bad, might be wierd to romance Fenris without tricking his friendship *evil cackle*

i don't think he does it purely out of love.  he tends to be submissive and prefers to be led.  at least, to those he feels he can trust. in this case, hawke.  for a full rival/full friend Fenris, Hawke is a good leader.  it is likely a leftover of his low self-confidence/slave mentality.

still, even if we ignore that he's still much more flexible about the mage issue than people give him credit for.  he only really gets "RAWR SMASH ALL MAGES THEY EVIL" when his temper flares.  but we all say things we don't fully mean in temper tantrums.  he's willing to give mages a chance, if there's good enough reason. he never goes out of his way to kick dirt in a mage's face (even if he would enjoy doing so).

but when every damn mage in the game ends up turning to blood magic or demonology, all you ever see is Fenris having reason to complain. i see a lot of people equating Fenris to being an Anders counterpoint.  But he really isnt.  sure, their opinions are on opposite sides of the scales, but Fenris isnt an extremist about his point as Anders is.

'sup rant. i was bored.
