I think one of my favorite moments of the rivalry romance (actually I don't know if it's in both, but it's one of my favorites anyway) is when in act three he paces in front of his fireplace and curses in Tevinter "You will be the death of me!" The way he says it just seems so exasperated, but in a fond sort of way if you can understand what I'm trying to get across. Oh Fenris, how will I ever play the game without romancing you when you have moments like that?
I ask myself this question often. I've actually parked the PT where I intend to romance Anders just so I can romance Fenris again with a new Hawke <3

Fenris is just too fun to romance. Especially since, as someone said awhile ago, he's pretty much the only one who gets SarcastiHawke's sense of humor. Trying Anders' romance almost killed me.catgirl789 wrote...

Hawke: So he's like an unwilling member in our threesome?
Anders: Please don't call it that!
Fenris would've joked back, I bet.

I love that he curses in the language he probably is more used to. I wish I knew more about the language, would love to really understand him when he curses or says random words or scentances in it...
Yet another language for me to obsess about, this happens way to often when I really get into fantasy novels as well XD

Oh yes, definately one of the highlights of the rivalry romance
Hrm. Can I offer some prompts for those with writing ability around here?
-Aftermath/aftertalk of 'She is not a woman, she is Basalit-An' comment'
-Dancing or learning to dance in the mansion. (A nod to the Varrick 'what do you do there all day?' banter)

I love it when he gets the jokes, though Varric and Isabela do too. My favorite was right before the final battle when you side with the templars and Fenris warns that the mages will do drastic things to save their skins:
Sarcastic!Hawke: Abominations and blood mages? Sounds like Tuesday.
Fenris: *smiles and chuckles* Hmm it does doesn't it?
My heart: *melts*

That was awesome. We need to compile a list of his Tevinter/Arcanum phrases, seriously. He says one before he leaves the group if you tell him you don't need him after Bait and Switch, too. "Banavis fedari. May the ground rise to meet your feet."Reznore57 wrote...
There 's also a tevinter curse moment (and he spits ...) if you say you want orana as a slave .
There's video on utube , i don't know what he's saying but he doesn't look happy at all ...

Merrill's not a child, though. She's an adult blood mage. Fenris is purposely antagonistic with her because she's an unrepentant demon-dealer. She may try to be his friend, but he's never going to trust her, so he's going to shut down any small talk with her. He even tries to talk sense into her occasionally, but.. she's Merrill.yoshibb wrote...
I got the Fenris and Merrill chat again where she's being all nice and comparing tattoos and he answers 'Mine were carved into my flesh in a ritual I remember only for the agony it caused me' or something like that. My Hawke just wanted to smack him and tell him to stop scaring the little children. I love him, but man he's harsh.

That sentence is just GREAT!
Once more, Fenris shows how smart and cultivated he is.
What do you guys think about the conversations between Sebastian and Fenris?

I think Fenris doesn't like fish. A few comments here and there about it.
I noticed last night that he made a comment about the smell of a warehouse when you go in there to do Gamlen's jewel quest in act iii.

I think they are interesting though I have to admit I have not heard them all. It pains me to put Sebastian in my group, but I suppose I should just buck up like a little fangirl camper and put him in the group to trigger the banters with Fenris.

Commotion is heard from across the street as nobles and their servants rush to see what has happened.
Fenris: (groggily) I believe that was our wake up call. (sighs) It would be nice to have a normal morning for once.
Hawke: Fen, in our line of work this is a normal morning.
Fenris: (chuckles) You raise a valid point.
Bodan: (poking his head through the door) I beg your pardon Messere, but breakfast will be slightly delayed this morning.
Sandal: (downstairs) Enchantment!

@Tasmen: Go in Merrill's house, then to Lowtown and back and forth to hear all the convos. There's a convo spot right outside her door so it doesn't take any walking, you just pop in, change your party, pop out, back in, back out, until they stop talking.

Bless you for telling my lazy arse how to get it done. I shall endeavor to do as much this evening!

I'm new to the DA forums, as you can tell from my avi pic I usually stick to ME, but Fenris is sooo....
So I've been inspired to post. I started the Fenris romance purely because it was different from my last DA choice, Alistair. I didn't think I would love it as much as I do now. My first playthrough was pro-mage so naturally my Lady Hawke and Fenris had a rivalry romance. I'm currently on my second playthrough and after being burned by so many mages *cough*Orsino*cough*Anders*cough* I've decided I'd hate mages this time around, which helps when pursuing a friendship romance. I'm still in act 2, but so far I like friendship romance much more. It's nice to have Fenris accept my gifts gratefully and without scorn.
Welcome! I'm new myself.
I've only had one playthrough, and I friendmanced Fenris. From what I've seen of both paths (rivalmance videos on YT), I like the friendship one better. Fenris is so much sweeter.

You know... do it
Slightly on topic,
One of the things that I found kinda interesting is that no matter how much I loved Isabella as a friend, I always got jelous vibes for her and Fenris, even when unspoiled and in sole romance with Fenris.
After the bitter pill though... her flirty lines, combined with some of Sebastian's banters really made my poor mage feel the heartbreak. Sebastian invites Fenris to go with him to Starkheaven, and I honestly for a moment was dreading the elf would say 'why not', since honestly, there is very little (apparent) reason for him to stick around Hawke, especially on a rivalry path.
Maybe it's just me

I liked the conversations. It instantly raised Sebastian from "Random DLC character I got for free" to "Instant cool person" for trying to help Fenris. I actually ended up walking around all of Kirkwall to here those two talk.

"I... have pretty eyes."
and
"Would you like to guess what color my underclothes are again?"
Whenever the banter that ends in that one^ comes up... my immediate guess is "he doesn't wear underclothes, I bet..."
I have no idea why.

Yeah. That one comment he makes, perhaps when you're in Viscount's Keep about power structures (can't quite remember what he said?) made me do one of these when I randomly clicked on him.

I will always bring Fenris to talk to the Arishok, every time he laid down some Qun knowledge I swooned. I love that when you bring Fenris it's Fenris that impresses the Arishok, and Hawke earns his respect by extension, as opposed to just another 'Hawke is so awesome everyone loves and respects him/her' moment.Village Idiot wrote...

I know everyone has talked about this already but the first time you go to the Arishok during Blackpowder Courtesy and he recites the Qun, that was the moment when my character knew she was in trouble. Vivanne Hawke totally got her heart kali-ma'ed (metaphorically of course). And I was in front of the television doing one of these
! I also LOVE Arishok's face when Fenris starts reciting the Qun, lol! That needs to be an icon! *giggle*
