So I did the quest where you go to talk to fenris right after act two begins, and where he talks about the fog warriors and his escape from denarius.

I will say only this: him saying "Care to hear the story?" always weirds me out.

Jovial/drunk Fenris scares me a bit.

"I totally killed a bunch of great people because Danarius told me to!  Great story, right?  Riiiight? 8D"

"Uh... I think I'm getting a padlock for your wine cellar."

Hey guys! Earlier I posted 2 prompts, and got this in my mailbox by Namuri who can't place their registration code to post properly, so I thought I'd share! (With persmission :) )

I can't post on the forums, because I can't find the stupid registration code on my X-box copy, but I read your post on the Fenris thread, with the prompts, and the dancing one sort of grabbed my attention, and I was inspired to fill it, it's pure fluff, forgive me. X3

Sorry if you think he's a bit OoC. I just think that--after getting together fo'realz, he would be more, I dunno, chatty, around her. He always seemed to take Sarcastic!Hawke's jibes in stride, anyway. Also, this is a Friendmance with SarcasticMage!Hawke--not as hard as it sounds--where he's gotten over his fear of being touched, with her, at least.

"You want me... to dance?" Fenris asked, staring at her.
"Learn to dance," Hawke corrected.
He just kept staring at her, she was smiling--her default expression--it was a mischievous smile, but it wasn't like that was unusual. She was also--seemingly--serious.
He closed his eyes tightly and pinched the bridge of his nose, "Is there any particular reason for this? Or is this just some sort of new prank you thought up?"
"What-no!" She said immediately, smile vanishing, "Fenris, this isn't how pranks work at all!"
He opened his eyes, letting his hand fall, "Of course not."
"If you must have a reason, it's because I've been invited to a party. Again." she rolled her eyes, "And I'm tired of going alone, all the noblewomen try to set me up with their sons--you'd think me being a mage would stop them, but no--it gets old."
He arched an eyebrow, "You could just not go."
"And have them whine about how I don't favor them, or--no, wait, that's the only thing they'd whine about." she put a hand on her hip, "I love how you didn't get jealous, at all, by the way, that was sweet of you."
He smiled, which is to say, the corners of his mouth lifted just a fraction, "I love how you played the 'I am a mage card', given how much you hate it."
"Weak," she said, pouting, "that was very weak, Fen," he winced at the nickname, "and it isn't going to get me off topic."
He sighed, but it was a sigh of defeat more than anything--they both knew she'd get her way.
"Come on," she said, clapping her hands together, "It will be fun! I promise."
"I never knew you to make promises you couldn't keep, and yet I am not the least bit surprised."
She looked at him, although it was more of a Look--head slightly tilted to the side and down, so she was looking at him beneath her brows, the corners of her mouth tightened the slightest bit.
"Don't be like that, it will be fun," she tossed her head, which lacked a lot of gravity, given that her hair was caught up in a short ponytail, "I'll get to show you off, those women will shut up, for once," she paused, and squinted, "at least about marrying me off to someone, and I won't have to go alone."
"So, what you are saying is, you wish to display me like a prized animal?"
"No-o!" she said, eyes wide, "We'll get to dance too, I really want to dance with you."
"I don't even know how to dance."
"I know!" she clapped her hands together again, "That's why I'll teach you. Here, come on, we'll start now. Lesson one: How to hold your dance partner." She stepped forward and grabbed his hand, placing it firmly right above her hip. Then, before he could pull away, she grabbed his right hand with her left and put her free hand on his shoulder. "See, simple."
"If we wish to stand awkwardly apart, then I suppose you're correct." he said, staring at the good two feet of space between them.
"Shush," she said, "I don't make the rules." She straightened, her grip on his shoulder tightening fractionally, "Lesson Two: How to Dance, and don't look at me like that," she added, "It's really just a two step process." She attempted to tug him into motion, but he didn't move.
"We've no music."
"We don't need music," she told him, rolling her eyes, "The music isn't important, come on, just follow my lead, mirror me, I'll count off the steps." she pulled at him again, and he obliged her with a small sigh.
They started to dance. It was a simple dance with only a few steps. There was no twirling, no dipping, no sliding. Just a 'one-two, one-two' step, slowly back and forth.
Fenris wasn't a clumsy person, and it didn't take him long before he didn't need to stare at his feet. It also didn't take long before Hawke didn't have to count allowed anymore; Then they danced in the quiet, their soft foot steps the only real sound.
"This seems more like shuffling than dancing to me." he said eventually, smiling slightly.
Hawke gave the smallest of sighs, "Yes, well, it looks fancier when the girl is wearing one of those big, poofy dresses, the ones that sweep and glide and what have you. Which I will not be wearing-- they make you look like a poof, which makes sense, I guess." she paused--breaking step for just a moment, but he didn't, and pulled her back into it.
"You'll just have to deal with the shuffling." she stepped forward--into him--and he stepped back, but not as far as he should have. His hand when father around the curve of her waist--pulling her closer--she grinned slightly and didn't step away.
They lapsed into silence again, dancing close together. It could have been eerie, dancing in the empty mansion, in fact, it probably was, to anyone watching, but they were too preoccupied to notice. Never looking away, they slowly drew closer in the quiet--dancing to their own private song. Her grip on his shoulder loosened and disappeared, her hand sliding over and past his shoulder until her arm merely rested on it.
His hand continued to follow the curve of her waist--pulling her ever closer as it did--until he reached the small of her back, where it rested for awhile--then started to move upward.
The hands they held together changed grip--fingers interlocking--before breaking apart, freeing him to put his hand on her waist; letting her put her hand on his shoulder, stepping into him again.
The dance came to an end when his grip tightened, they were so close, they barely had to move for their lips to meet.
It was a slow kiss, and it deepened as she leaned into him, one hand tangling in his hair, the other reaching down to dig her fingers into the fabric of his shirt.
It was a sweet kiss--even as it deepened--there was no raw need in it, no fiery passion. It was a simple kiss, and they savored it for a long time, before finally pulling apart, but only the slightest bit so that they could press their foreheads together, their eyes shut.
Eventually, lazily, Hawke opened hers, "See," she whispered, "fun."

Double post (maybe?)

Song suggestions:

Hallelujah ----covered by a few artists, but I like Kate Voegle's version
Howl----Florence and the Machine
Drumming Song----Florence and the Machine (really more from Hawke's POV, but I think it describes her feelings towards Fen)

and I sort of like E.T. by Katy Perry. For some reason, I like it for Fenris. Tho that could be me projecting.

That such a cool piece of art there! Even though I dislike letting him kill his sister.. and not sure I like the 'mood' in it. Too happy? :P Still. Amazing picture :)

I actually love that part, its one of my favourite dialouges in the game as a whole - on of many I might add. Still wondering what he says in Arcanum, just before that. I would write down what it is he says, but it seems my notes for that is on Yggdrasils external hardriver - which is down right now since we are instaling a new hardriver to that computer. So instead I shall list the battle cries I have heard so far from Fenris and written down....

"Again?"
"All done, alas"
"That one shall not rise again."
"Another has fallen before me."
"On to the next."
"Most unwise"
"One more is vanquished."
"Rest and be grateful."
"Now we shall see"
"We move again."
"You wish to fight?"
"Venhedis" (or something similar)
"Ishanta" (or something similar)
"benefaris" (or something similar)

It is amazing, if you have Fen and Merrill in your party after he kills her he isn't really bothered, I think his life has given him a certain level of pragmatism, an ability to let things go.
Anyway, it was just very eyecatching and even though the subject matter might be...... challenging.. by our standards, I try to judge characters in those settings by what is acceptable in their world (if that makes sense?) Like, you can't judge Henry VIII by today's standards you have to judge him by his time and reality and everyone telling him his whole life that he was basically above the law. Different times.......

I agree. Its a really nice piece and they really got Varenia right. Not sure I get the thing with the favour either, nor do I quite get the facial expression - or lack of it rather... Sadly I keep going back to that and have a hard time appriciating the quality of the work...

Wheeee, I can post, finally  : D
Anyway, hi everyone 83 I've been lurking for awhile, but I was having trouble registering my game, so I couldn't post :/

I've played through the game twice, both as a SarcasticFem!Hawke, once as a rogue and once as a mage, and both time I friendmanced Fenris X3
I was going to ramance Anders, I was seriously waiting until the moment I could glomp him, or something, and then this happened:
Hawke> I think you're cute ;)
Anders> No, don't go there. :crying:  I will BREAK YOU'RE HEART, FOR SRS!!!!
Hawke>  ...I... just... [backs away]

And then she met Fenris, and the rest is history XD
I think I'll only ever Friendmance him, he gets pretty adorable :>

Anyway, as I was lurking, I grabbed some quotes, which I felt like replying to in my own silly way.  So forgive me for how long this is going to be X3

I think the game tried to be grey, but in the end you made a black and white choice: Side with Orsino or side with Meredith. It's not even really about siding with mages or templars. There is no real diplomatic solution, or one where mages aren't presented as crazy lunatics (Orsino, Grace, Anders, DuPuis). I felt no real ambivalence for siding with the templars, even as a mage. Fenris is right. Mages are bad. I wish I could have made Orsino and Meredith fight each other while I drank a bottle of Danarius's wine.

Dude, I'm pretty sure Fenris drank it all.
Or used it to paint the walls of his mansion x3

He just has to be a martyr. It's sad that I can't just hand him over to Cullen or something. Frankly I think tranquilizing him (if it's even possible) would've been a far more fitting result of his actions than that lame stab in the back.

Especially given how narmy it was, for me, at least.  He almost looks like he's smiling, or something, and his eyes don't close all the way :/

I actually suspected Orisno's being not a good guy when I saw the 'Letter From the Circle' during "All that Remains". It was sighed 'Your friend, -O' or something to that effect. Then I met Orsino and it didn't click...until the second playthrough, when I sided with the templars and got the 'Hey, that ****** killed my mumsie' option.

I need to side with the templars, just so I can get that option.

WTF, Orsino. WTF. I still tend to side with the mages, because I DO think Meredith is TOO much. But I enjoy killing Orsino every time.

He was my favorite NPC, I was so depressed when I had to kill him.

Unless he messes up or learned the words wrong or somesuch, and winds up saying that he/she wants cheese, or something. It would result in The Eyebrow, and poor Hawke would feel terrible because Fenris has obviously rejected him/her

Fenris> [squints for a second] I'm... going to assume you meant something else?
Hawke> I-No!  No I didn't!
Fenris> Oh, forgive me then, I didn't know you had such a love affair with cheese.
Hawke> [eye twitch] I hate Arcanum

Well, I just got up and am eating breakfast. I haven't spent much time on the forum since i got the game. ( Fenris has me preoccupied....) Soon I will be in the Deep Roads again. I plan to kill off Bethany so I can rescue Fen from the kidnappers later....hehe.

Omg, same, 'cept with Carver... it makes me feel pretty terrible. Really, I think that the LI should be chosen over your sister/brother. I mean, Bethany's in the Circle (or the wardens) and Carver is a templar (or warden), they'd probably be surrounded by people... except I suppose the people surrounding them are the would be kidnappers... TT;
Does making your sibiling a Warden also mean your LI gets kidnapped, by the way?

Nice artwork indeed... but yeah, the favor is... what is he doing... o.o

And yay more combat banter. Even his comments when waking up after having landed unconscious is fun, though I don't remember them at the moment. Something with "So you won the day without me, that's what counts."

And I swear I've heard him spit "Shut up!" too.

Will check that LJ group out too!

Heya Namuri! Thanks again for wrting that prompt! :)

And if you do another playthrough, do try a rival path with Fenris! (Grabbing a few friendship points for slavers won't kill it ;) ) Subtle dialog changes and reactions changes from friend to a rival are very well done. Romance feels bit more angry and raw, but still passionate :).

I'm on a playthrough where I let Carver die... *sigh* I never felt so bad. Even doing same thing to Bethany. Caver's goodbye to mother prior to deep roads and his last goodbye are such tearjerkers.

And yes, if you make your sibling a warden they'll still get kidnapped :P

No need to thank me, it was fun!

I'm not sure I want to though. I mean, like, I'd have to deliberately be a dick to him, because (other than releasing a mage here and there so that they don't end up dying in the end) I am very anti-mages going around doing whatever they want. And I'm also always sarcastic, which he ends up reacting well too. It's just what I enjoy, nn;
I might though, one day.

Edit:
gah! Darnit, well, I'm sorry Carver :< I realllly want to have Hawke go crazy when they kidnap Fenris.
